Baby Evlyn: 38 Weeks

Blood pressure: 116/56
Weight: +1 since my last appt
Cravings: the Moolinium Crunch Blue Bell ice cream that's staring at me from our freezer

The handout they give me at each OB appointment explains what will happen at my next check-up. The one they they gave me yesterday said, "next appointment - delivery". Holy smokes. Things just got really REAL.

This last 2 weeks my nesting hormones went into overdrive. We got Jonah's old crib re-assembled, picked up some bedding we found on Craigslist, and loaded up an antique dresser with freshly laundered baby clothes. I packed my hospital bags (Nannie Blanket included), and now that the Ford Edge is repaired and back in our garage, the carseat is installed.

Gracie has been testing out all the baby stuff with her Cabbage Patch doll named...Baby Evlyn. Last night she tucked the doll into the crib, prayed and sang "Jesus Loves the Baby Evlyns", then turned out the light. Michael and I listened around the corner and tried not to boohoo (audibly).

May Status Updates

May 4th AM - feeling so blessed by my six year old's teacher and the special's staff at his school. They obviously care about him and bend over backwards to set him up for success. So glad he goes to this school. SO. GLAD.

May 4th PM - seriously. the wilsfords have had enough. Michael got rear-ended yesterday by a distracted driver, and the kids and I plowed into a lady who decided to turn left without yielding to our green light. We're all okay - shaken up and sore, but this is ridiculous. I'm going to wrap us all in bubble wrap tomorrow.

May 10th - the countdown is on! 20 days to baby Evlyn!
...and now I will take a brief moment to freak out.

May 11th - starting to get a little giddy about holding a baby again. I blame it on the teeny tiny, palm-sized diapers I just stacked in a basket. Completely forgot how small newborns are!

May 12th - My boys :)

May 18th AM - Happy 10th anniversary to my love, Michael Wilsford. I'm giving you a 3rd baby in lieu of the traditional tin or aluminum ;)
May 18th PM - Jonah asked me this morning what Mama Oil Day was for. Think he meant Memorial Day.
May 20th - Oh, neighborhood swimming pool, how I missed you. So fabulous to sit and chill while the kids swim happily for HOURS, then when we come home they'll eat anything I put in front of them and happily go to bed.
May 21st - enjoying the backseat choreography by my three year old. There's a lot of hair flipping to Adele going on in the rear view mirror.
May 22nd - With Michael and Jonah at Chipotle's :P

Evie's Nursery Nook

The house we're renting right now has a sitting area off the master bedroom. It's perfect for a little nursery nook, and since there's not a bedroom to spare at this moment - a sweet little nook is what Evlyn gets!

We found bedding on Craigslist that will "go" with the rest of our master bedroom decor. We're using Jonah's old crib, and a dresser that used to be Papaw's when he was a kiddo.

I painted some canvases and we propped up our nursery bunny. The same bunny that has watched over Jonah and Gracie in their cribs...

Baby Evlyn: 36 Weeks

Blood pressure: 120/49
Weight: +1 lb since my last appointment 2 weeks ago
Cravings: water - cannot get enough

It's been an interesting journey since the last baby update. The migraines, as I suspected, got me referred to a neurologist. He says they are textbook complex migraines. I guess a lot has changed since the last time I went to the doctor for migraines 7 years ago. They know so much more about them and the numbness I get as a result is not near as alarming as it was back then. He gave me a nose spray to use if I have anymore episodes. It's called "Sorin's Sauce" (ha!), and is gentle enough to use while I'm pregnant/nursing. Haven't had to use it yet :)

Besides that, last Friday, the kids and I were headed home from a trip to Sonic when a lady failed to yield her left turn to our green light. We didn't see her until she was probably 10 feet in front of us (the traffic was really congested) - and ended up t-boning her in the middle of the intersection. Giving thanks to God that our airbags did not deploy - protecting Baby Evlyn (although the other driver's bags did deploy). Jonah had some bruising on his shoulder from the seatbelt, and both kids had short spurts of panic, but besides that we are okay.

Within 5 minutes the fire department was on the scene checking us over. Jonah told them his shoulder hurt, so a fireman casually asked Jonah to hold his helmet and lift it up. Jonah was trying not to smile when he agreed to the task. He was then asked to hang on to the helmet for a few minutes while the fireman checked on the passengers in the other car. So thankful for that distraction. Gracie was totally fine until she saw a stretcher coming out of an ambulance. She started wailing and crying because she thought they were going to take Jonah away. Sweet girl :( I quickly explained that everyone in our car was okay, and no one needed to go to the hospital.

After my doctor's appointment yesterday, I was scolded for not going to the hospital myself. Apparently, in situations like that, the main concern for a pregnancy is the placenta detaching - which I was clueless about. He says, I would have known if that happened within 24 hours - so we seem to be in the clear. Continuing on with the third trimester, there are slightly more contractions (especially toward the end of the day), baby is head down but not dropping, swelling is spotty and minimal, Mama is cranky, and that is all.

Actually, that is not all. I want to take a second to say: I totally remember MY mom being pregnant with the fourth of our sisters. I remember telling my 2nd grade teacher that, "Mom was cranky because she was pregnant". Ha! So, just for the record, Mom, I get it. I really, really get it.
