Rangers Lead the Way!

After 100 days apart, I was too excited to see Chet again to take many pictures. Here he is, first time I saw him, coming out of Camp Rogers.
 Reuniting with his baby boy.

On the morning of Ranger graduation, the instructors put on a demonstration that was really fun to watch. They showed some of the more interesting skills that the ranger regiment guys have, like:
super fast repelling
 super fast cliff climbing
and repelling face down to stop midway and shoot bad guys.
They can repel out of helicopters,
then get picked up by the chopper by their packs.
They also jumped out of choppers into the water.

This is one of the graded tasks that the ranger school guys had to pass-
comando/monkey crawl out to the tab,
ask for permission to drop,
have to do a pull-up,
then drop into the water when permission is granted.

At the end of the demonstration, they buzzed past in the chopper and the boat,
then there was this huge explosion under water that rattled your insides, and left a gorgeous rainbow. It was all very exciting!
All the graduates were lined up. Chet is in the second row on the end.
This was the best part: pinning the tab on my ranger's shoulder! Yay!

A few of the guys and families got together for a dinner party that night. Congratulations guys!

On our way back home we stopped by our friends' house. The Payne's were so generous, and we love them. This is the only pic I got there though (I'm terrible at remembering to pull out the camera when we're having fun). Lyndsey and Silas were quick friends. We can't wait to meet her little one coming this spring!

What a fun/stressful/rewarding adventure we have been on. Now we're ready for the next big thing coming our way!

Four Months

Silas is getting so big. He is four months old already (where has the time gone?), weighs 16 pounds, is 25 inches long, and has the cutest giggle I've ever heard. He has been so busy...

Hanging out
Sleeping
Napping
Making friends

 Tummy-timeing

 Drooling
 Showing off his leg rolls
Eating as many fingers as possible

Growing the most adorable feet
Playing with Mommy
Giggling
And being super cute some more.

That about sums it up. Silas is undeniably cute.

Downtown - Uptown - All-overtown

Here is the rest of my time with the Thalman family in Charlotte. One of our big event days included heading uptown (which I think should be called downtown....). We stopped for storytime at the library.
Benji played with legos...
and on the computer.
Which is what Gid also found most entertaining!
We walked a few blocks to The Green and the kiddos played in the fountain.

We picnicked there, then on our way back we stopped in the Wells Fargo Museum and we got to ride a "rubber-wheeled trolley".

Other happenings (not in chronological order, but all happening sometime in October) include:
Eating all the honey crisp apples we could stomach
Dressing up like blue and black ninjas
The swords were most definitely outside toys.
Wearing Grown-up's shoes (featured are Mally's sandals. Honorable mentions are my boots- worn up to Benji's thighs.)
 Back massages.
Playing hard at several local playgrounds.

Wearing sunday shirts and burp cloths tied around the waist. (Why, you ask? We asked Gid the same thing, and never got an answer.)

Monkey Joe's! The boys were playing so fast, that I could only really get pictures of the backs of their heads. Too fun.

Not all fun and games though. We put those boys to work making dinner. (Then convincing Benji to eat four big bites before getting candy.)

Apparently he wants a puppy. Black. Small. Named Fred.
Thalman men ("I'm a growing man!")

Thank you guys so much for letting me stay with you for four weeks. It was such a blast!!!
