I know I'm supposed to complain and whine about how I've been in Brazil for two weeks, and I'm stuck in my apartment with no internet. But.... I kind of love it. I actually get stuff done during the day. I read to my kids and clean up after meals. I study Portuguese and read my scriptures. I finished my cross-stitch project that I started two years ago. I'm reading The Scarlet Letter, which is actually a good book-- something you couldn't have convinced me when my sophomore class read it in high school. I remember specifically the three chapters I read and the rest of the quizzes that I just winged it on. This is actually a memory that recurs for most of the books I "read" in high school. I'm glad, though, that life doesn't end after high school. I accomplished a lot then, but it's nice to have time to do more.
So, Brazil. Yesterday we moved into our permanent apartment, after living in a temporary one for almost two weeks. We kind of loved our temporary place. There was a tree-covered play area right outside our apartment, and behind that was a small cafe that played samba and jazz several evenings a week. We would sit in our internet-free apartment, doing puzzles or reading books in the evening, listening to the jazz wafting in through the open windows. Brazil is pretty much heavenly.
