Mark Learns Some New Tricks

Here's Mark sucking on his hand,

and here he is sitting up by himself and playing with dirt.

Sunday's Hike

Today, like most Sundays (or Saturdays) we went for a hike. It is great to be in Colorado where the temperature in mid-November is 75 degrees and still almost everyday is sunny. At this rate I don't know if we will have to take a break from outdoor exercise for the winter. The mom group I hike with just changes to snowshoes when the trails change to snow. Part of this hike is the first hike we did after Mark was born. I was 6 weeks postpartum then and we made it about 20 minutes up, and I was wiped out. Today we went up for about 2 hours. Even though I am still dragging compared to how we used to hike, I am pretty happy with the increase in my stamina. Here are the views from our highest point.

dinner and new mark photos

Well, here are a few photos from today- isn't he just so cute!!

Also, since he has been sleeping a little bit longer and playing a little by himself I am finding a little time to get things done. This week I made a quiche, two pies, cornbread and stuffed pepers all from scratch. For me this is a lot of cooking- I had to put up the photos of tonights dinner- it looked so pretty.

Days since a new post

We have had a long week here.
Monday was great, we took a hike then our friend Brian came to visit us.
Tuesday Mark was tired and fussy all day.
Wednesday Mark woke up with a goupy eye- we went to the Dr- he had the beginings of an infection. He was tired and fussy
Thrusday- tired and fussy
Friday- great until about 2:30 then fussy until Tim got home. In fact so great that I made a couple of pies and a quiche from scratch. What are you supposed to do when stuck at home (didn't want to expose him to other children in case he was still contagious) and the baby is calm? He used to need me every second, but now he is happy to play with his toys for 20-40 minutes by himself. The bills are paid, the laundry is done, the house is a mess but I don't care. I kind of want to break out my sewing stuff, but we don't have the room to keep it set up and it is a hassle to have to pack and unpack it. Anyway, we made it out to happy hour with Tim's work. It was nice for me to get out of the house- of course I spent the whole time talking with another new mom.
Now- it is way to early in the morning to be up- but I can't sleep, Mark ate at 4 (until almost 5, you would think it have been longer than 3 hours since his last feeding, but you would be wrong) and now he is happily back to sleep and here I am wordily writting a post because I have checked all the other things I do on the internet and I don't want to toss and turn in bed- no need to keep Tim up.

Mom and Dad are stopping by today, so I will take some new pictures and put them up later.

diapers on sale!

If you are using or thinking of using cloth diapers there is a sale on bumGenius right now. This is the first time I have seen them go on sale in the year I have been looking at cloth diapers. It is just for the pockets (I like the AIOs better but the pockets to dry faster).

Mom and dad were driving through so we took a trip up to Cheyenne to see them for a few hours.
