Father's Day Memories

So this past week was just great.  On Tuesday I dropped Kolby off at the airport for a business trip and I headed to Coalville for a few days.  That night my mom, sister, brother, and I went to City Creek.  It was my first time and it was a pretty fun place.  We ate at Cheesecake Factory and just had a good time being together.  I also bought Hudson a swimming pool at Target.  I had been wanting to for awhile and was excited to get it home and try it out!
At City Creek

On Wednesday we put up the new pool (I was the most excited out of anybody) and Hudson played in it for hours.  I just love that little boy!

That night we went boating at Echo and bbq'd hamburgers (two must have summer activities).  Hudson loved boating and feeling the air on his face.  I have to admit it was relaxing for me too.
We love Aunt Cara

Thursday came and Hudson and I joined Kolby's mom, brother, and sister at Park City Mountain Resort to have some fun on the alpine slide.  And it was so fun!  We also took Hudson on the carousel before I had to leave to pick up Kolby.

Since I had to grab the dog and swimming pool at my parent's house, we drove back and stopped at the outlets on our way.  We got a few great deals at Children's Place and Carters, took a break to eat a cookie at Mrs. Field's, and just enjoyed each other's company after spending time apart for a few days.  After picking up our belongings in Coalville, we headed home, but not before stopping at the Burger Bar in Roy for dinner.  We love that place and it always reminds me even more that it's summer when we are there.  Love it!  We finally made it back to Logan with full bellies and lots of laundry!  Friday was just a day of doing that laundry but Saturday brought back more summer fun.  I drug out the pool and Hudson, along with some neighbor kids, played in it for hours.  I'd say it was a pretty great buy if it will keep kids occupied for that long!  That night we went and hit a few balls at the driving range and then grilled some hot dogs for dinner.  More summer activities!  I love summer!

Sunday, father's day, was fabulous.  It helps that I have a fabulous father and a fabulous husband to honor on that day!  Hudson and I gave Kolby a golf bag and golf glove followed by a pancake breakfast.  A good start to the day!  After church, where Kolby was spoiled with a donut bar in priesthood, we came home to relax.  We called our dads, napped, and went for a ride.  All relaxing activities for a Sunday afternoon!  As I relaxed, I thought about all of the things I love about my father and my husband.  I thought I would share some of them:

My dad:

-the best dad in the world!
-the best grandpa to Hudson!
-always takes time for me
-taught me the gospel and was a good example of it in our home
-taught me to work
-loves to have fun and surprised us lots as I grew up
-always made sure we never went without even if it meant sacrificing himself
-supported us in everything and still does

*this list could go on and on for days but these are a few things I love about my dad!

My husband:

-the best husband in the world!
-the best daddy to Hudson!
-compliments me even when I don't deserve it
-loves me for me
-uses a coaster without being asked (very important in my house)
-works hard
-is a good example in our home
-surprises me with flowers or just a thoughtful text when I need it most
-makes me laugh

*this list could also go on and on

I just had to insert these lists to remind myself how lucky I am to have my wonderful father and my fantastic husband in my life!  I am richly blessed!

We ended our father's day with steaks on the grill and watching "We Bought A Zoo", a great ending to a great day!

Boys Will Be Boys

Playing in the Dirt

I love having a little boy!  He is such a mama's boy and I love it.  I was one that always thought I would have 5 little girls and was so excited to pretty them all up.  But I got a boy and I'm in love with him.  Wouldn't change it for anything.  Don't get me wrong, I really want a girl someday.  But if I have all boys I will be fine with that too.  A bunch of little mommy's boys.  Just don't tell their dad I said that :)

Boys do some interesting things that I would never think of doing.  Dirty things.  But hey I've decided that I'm up for just about anything these days.  And I guess I have to be.  Especially since almost every kid in our neighborhood is a boy.  The neighbor across the sidewalk has two.  My other neighbor diagonal to me has three.  The neighbor behind me has two.  And just a few houses down is a household with four.   These boys, they love to play. My little guy loves watching them play and trying to get in on the action.  Yesterday four of the boys were out, along with Hudson, and I was also babysitting another friend's two boys.  Yes everyone there were seven boys outside my door.  We had lots of fun though.  Every toy I own (almost) was out in the yard.  Here are a few pictures of these cute little guys and one random one of Hudson looking at things upside down.  He thought it was hilarious.

So I guess boys will be boys!  I might as well get used to it.

New

Ok so this post is for all of the new things I have acquired lately.  Fun new things that I love.

*Hudson's adorable new outfit from H&M (love it)
This is a bad picture but he wouldn't look at me

*Hudson's new beach ball from Potter Barn Kids (love this too)
It has a blow up fish inside.  How cute is that?!

*my new (well new to me) BOB jogging stroller (love this the MOST)

So here's to out with the old and in with the new!  Sometimes new stuff is just more fun!

Just Another Tuesday

So yesterday was just another Tuesday.  Nothing extremely exciting happened but sometimes that's how I like it.  Actually most of the time I'm perfectly content with everyday life.  Hudson has been off on his sleeping schedule since we went on vacation so he woke us up bright and early at 6 AM.  Yep that's right, 6 AM.  To me getting up that early is unheard of and throws off my whole day.  But when you have a kid they make the schedule!  So we got up and ate breakfast, exercised, and got ready for the day.

We played outside for a bit and then at 11 we went to the splash pad with some friends.  Hudson ran right in and joined the action.  He loved it!  And I loved watching him!

We ate lunch, played, and chatted until nap time was just around the corner.  Oh how I love nap time!  I always feel guilty saying it cause I feel like it makes me a bad mom but that time alone is just the best. It's needed. for. my. sanity!  If you have kids you know what I'm talking about.  If you don't have them yet, you will know exactly what I mean some day.  Anyway, I got the bathrooms cleaned, paid bills, and just relaxed.  Once Hudson was awake and had his snack we headed off to get the tires changed.  Hudson loves that place because he gets to sit and eat popcorn.  Popcorn is a favorite.

We had chimichangas, rice, and corn for dinner and then my awesome hubby let me get some errands done.  He is just fabulous!  Anyway, there it is.  Our Tuesday.  Not too exciting but perfectly content!

Some Canada and Catching Up

Ok so I really need to be better about keeping up my blog.  It's just terrible.  But to make myself feel better about not keeping up my blog the best I tell myself that I'm spending that time playing with my little bug.  And we have done lots of playing!  I'll work backward and start with our fun vacation to Canada!  Kolby went for business so Hudson and I tagged along.  I had never been to Canada before so it was exciting!  I worried for weeks after we booked the tickets about that plane ride.  I dreaded it.  Not because I hate flying.  No no I love flying.  This dread was because I would be flying with a 15 month old monster.  He hadn't flown for a year and a year makes lots of difference.  However, he did fabulous!  I was so surprised and happy.  He watched Mickey Mouse on the Ipad, did some snoozing, played with toys and fuzzy pipe cleaners (if you have not brought out the pipe cleaners for your little ones you should.  lots of fun!), read books, and ate snacks.  Once we got to Canada we checked into our hotel and then ate some dinner.
Hudson's fav place: the hotel closet

Finally at the hotel

I couldn't get one with his eyes open

We were exhausted so after we all bathed we headed off to bed.  The next morning we went to the sale where we market our product.  The sale was not Hudson's favorite place.  It was so funny though because there were people from all over Europe, Canada, America, and Asia there and even though I didn't socialize with most of them they all stopped to say hi to the cute baby.  One man from Asia even put his face time up to Hudson so that whoever was on the other end could see the sweet little guy.  Whoever was on the other end put their baby on and there Hudson sat face timing a baby in Asia somewhere.  It was great fun!  Hudson ended up being the hit of the auction!

After lunch we went to the Toronto Zoo.  Ok my friends, this zoo was ginormous (sp?)!  It had so many different kinds of animals and we had a blast!

After walking around for hours and taking Hudson on the merry-go-round we left and went to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.  I love that place and it kept Hudson occupied too.
The next day we went to the sale for a bit and then Kolby had meetings so I headed out with the baby to a shopping mall nearby.  This was one of the best malls that I've been to and I had so much fun checking out the stores.  I didn't buy much but had fun looking!  Pottery Barn and William Sonoma were my faves!  When we got back we ate some dinner, went swimming, and got some ice cream.  On our last full day there we went to the sale and then ventured off looking for the Toronto Temple.  It was about 20 minutes away from our hotel but the drive was worth it.  What a beautiful temple!
That evening we went to dinner with some friends and then got ready for our long trek home the next day.  Once again, Hudson was fabulous and we made it home safe and sound.
At the airport
I'm so grateful for the time I got to spend with my boys this past week!

Also here are a few pictures from this past monthish that I have not posted yet.  Enjoy!
