Small Town Rodeo

Happy Monday everyone!  This past weekend was eventful for our little family!  On Thursday Hudson and I started our day with a walk down the Logan River Park Trail.  Bee-utiful!  I loved every minute of it and cannot wait to get my 2 miles in there again!  Friday, after exercising and cleaning up, we did some sidewalk chalk drawing.  I tell ya, my son is quite the artist with that chalk.  He loved it!

Friday night we put on our cowboy boots (ok really just Hudson's cute baby ones) and headed to the Preston Idaho rodeo and festivities. I know, I missed the Olympic opening ceremonies.  Don't remind me.  I had them recorded and for some reason it did not work.  Sad day.  Anyway...  We started out at the parade (where Hudson was more interested in eating the candy than catching it), followed by dinner at Arctic Circle (where Hudson played more than ate), and then the rodeo.  I was nervous that Hudson would act up but he was so good.  He loved watching the horses come in and then after that he was toast.  Slept almost the whole time, waking up just in time for the bull riding!  What a trooper he was and we had so much fun just hanging out as a little family.

Now we are looking forward to this weekend when my aunt and cousins are coming from back east.  So darn excited to pack up and go to Star Valley WY for a nice family getaway!  Meanwhile, I'll be soaking up every last bit of Olympic events that I can.   Go USA!

Pioneer Day

Yesterday was Pioneer Day here in Utah.  Parades. Fun runs. Fireworks. No work.  Just a day to relax with our families and reflect on the pioneer heritage we are so proud of.  Um...my day went a little differently.  My husband had to work (darn it!).  Here is how my day went:

-wake up and get Hudson's oatmeal
-went out to breakfast (I did con my hubby into this before he went to work)
-back home to exercise (2 miles with a belly full of french toast is no bueno)
-bath time for me and Hudson
-build some stuff with legos
-lunchtime
-naptime (for Hudson)
-bathroom cleaning and tidying up (for me)
-a quick trip to Walgreens
-hubby finally home and off to wander around the mall
-dinner at The Borderline
-home to relax and enjoy the fireworks in North Logan and Willow Park (we could see both from our house)

So, even though our day wasn't full of celebrations and festivities, it was still a good day for us.  I am so thankful to my pioneer ancestors that made the trek across the plains so that I can practice my religion freely.  I'm glad there is a day set aside to honor them.

Happy Pioneer Day!

Sidenote:  My baby is 17 months old today.  Crazy.
