These beautiful specimens were picked from our nectarine and peach trees right here in the backyard. In fact, Bro Corbridge claims Peggy canned numerous quarts of peaches from our tree last summer whilst we were gone. And. . . .I didn't even know we had a peach tree.
We enjoyed a "cookout" in John and Kim's backyard on Friday evening. Things went smoothly once we got "the law" satisfied that we were within regulation.
If there are frogs or other wildlife in the neighborhood, Grandpa T. will find them. These two lovelies came home for a brief visit with the family; then John, Elias, Madilyn and Gpa returned them to their natural habitat.
The grasshoppers no longer hop away to a safe distance when approached by humans. Instead they just looked up at me with my camera and continued with their meal. In fact, some of them seemed to flock to the selected plant in order to get into the picture. Sigh. I have whispered in Absalom's ear that he should "CATCH AND KILL THE GRASSHOPPERS; CATCH AND KILL THE GRASSHOPPERS. . . ." and he seems to realize his duty; yesterday he was in the garden attempting to pounce on the critters.
