Almost 2 months!!!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in almost 2 months...it has been VERY hectic!
Needless to say, I don't have much time to write now, but I thought I would post an update.
Scarlett Ruth was born at 9:04 am on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010. I was given the epidural and they were ready to do my c-section...but...the epidural worked everywhere but my abdomen. Instead, I was sedated and my baby girl was brought out of me while I slept peacefully. She was 6 lbs 4 oz, but dropped to 5 lbs 9oz while I was in the hospital. Not to worry, she's doing great! I think I needed her to be so tiny so I could get used to carrying her around and build up my strength again.
I spent the first 6 weeks of Scarlett's life living with my parents. They were terrific - running up and down the stairs bringing me my meals so that I only had to do the stairs once per day - to join them for dinner and to watch some TV with them at night. I started to get cabin fever, so my dad would "babysit" some days while my mom and I would run errands for an hour. I wasn't pumping yet, so I couldn't be gone long, and I was recovering from the c-section, so I couldn't drive or lift anything heavier than the baby.
Just before Scarlett turned 6 weeks, I decided it was time to return home....lol, around the corner from my parents' place. My dad helped me move 6 weeks worth of mine and Scarlett's stuff home and then he left....and I cried and cried...it was emotional to finally be in my own home with my baby, starting our own lives together - not that I haven't seen my parents every single day since then :)
And it's been quite an adventure so far...and I'm loving it...although, it's impossible to get anything done these days. One thing to be said for breastfeeding though - it certainly makes me sit down and relax.
Tonight there was a poopy explosion!!! Literally! Don't buy the Fisher Price diapers - they are cheap for a reason! I got Scarlett home from my parents' place and let her sleep in the stroller/car seat while I got some things done...when I went to go get her, the stench was awful - and breastmilk fed babies don't generally have stinky poo....well, they do when the poo is EVERYWHERE!!!
I usually wait to do baths when my mom comes over - I always feel better with someone else around - but Scarlett was way too smelly to not put her in the tub...and she had a great time! And I got the poopy out of her clothes - I hope - and if I didn't, well, the sleeper was getting too small anyway (although it was one of my favourites). But it's amazing that two months ago, I wasn't cleaning poo out of clothing, and making someone else my number one priority. And it's amazing to feel so much love for another being. And it's amazing to look at this little baby and know that she grew in me.
And now, I need to try to get just a little bit of sleep (and finish my book cuz it's due at the library tomorrow and I only have 25 pages to go - The forgotten garden - I totally recommend it) - before Scarlett wakes up for a feeding.
I'm back...hopefully I'll be able to blog a little bit every so often...I really want to have a record of our life together. I'm almost sorry that I didn't blog the first two months, but I didn't have time.
I also can't wait to catch up on all of your posts!
