I am finally getting around to posting the awesome time we had over Easter weekend. We went with Colten's family canoeing on the Colorado River. We went to Boulder City, NV on Thursday and then left down the river the next morning. We spent all day Friday and most of Saturday on the river.

Our trip was full of canoeing...

How to start your day off on the right track.

Yesterday afternoon I was waiting for Colten to get home from school in Cedar so we could go to St. George. While I was waiting, I decided to go watch the high school softball game. When Colten arrived in Hurricane, he came straight to the High School to pick me up and we left for St. George. We went to Del Taco for dinner and then to our softball game. After the game we had a list of things to get at Wal-mart for our up coming canoeing trip, needless to say we didn’t leave Wal-mart until after 10. We got home at 10:40 and unloaded all of our groceries and put things away then went to bed around 11:30. This morning I got up and did the normal daily routine: shower, make-up, kiss Colten good-bye at 7:00, do my hair, eat breakfast…. I usually leave my house at 7:35 to go to work and this morning at 7:38 I went to grab my keys from the shelf and they weren’t there. I thought to myself, “That’s weird. I always put my keys there. They must be in my bag.” At that point, when I unzipped my bag I realized my car is still at the high school from yesterday! We forgot to get it last night. OHHHH Crap! Well, I didn’t really want to run 6 miles this morning and I could ride my bike but… Oh great, the feel of panic and what to do. The only person I know and dared call was the primary president in the ward. Plus she has a son in 8th grade that goes to the middle school. So I called her cell phone and her son answered and I asked him, “How are you getting to school today?” He said his Dad is taking him. So I asked if I could bum a ride and they were very gracious to take me. Come to find out his mom was still asleep so I am very glad the son answered and I didn’t have to bother her. I was 25 minutes late but I still made it before school started and I can only feel grateful for having nice people in the world that are willing to help others out. And this family is above nice, they are so awesome. They have had us over for dinner on Sundays and are just great people. So thanks again for the ride and I hope everyone has a great day and don’t forget to park your car in the garage tonight!

Good times at the MGM Grand.

Last night we went to Las Vegas for the ACM (Academy of Country Music) Artist of the Decade concert at the MGM Grand. I got tickets from Colten for Christmas this past year. It was so much fun. George Strait was the artist of the decade and he just sat there with his family on this nice little couch and watched as many country music singers performed his songs. At the end, he pleased us all with performing a few or his greatest that weren’t already performed. It was really cool to see so many artists performing in one night. Here are a few of the ones that I can remember: Tim McGraw and Faith, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Jon Rich, Toby Keith, LeAnn Womack, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, Jamie Johnson, Jack Ingram, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Taylor Swift, and Jamie Fox. (Did any of you know that Jamie Fox can sing? His performance was so awesome. Besides him being hilarious, he just belted out a tune and sang, “You Look So Good in Love”. He put a little soul into it and it was Great!)

We weren’t allowed to have cameras or video so I wasn’t able to get any pictures of anyone but this picture is as close to the stars as we have for ya. That’s probably about as close as we were too, since we were nearly on the top row! :)

I have secretly always wanted…

to be a beautician!
It’s such a girlie thing to do and it seems like only the skinny, pretty, blondes (no offense Diana and Angie because wouldn’t it be great to be skinny, pretty and blonde like you two? :) But I guess it’s not really a secret because I usually cut, color, and perm all of my family’s hair. Growing up my mom always had a separate room in the house to do hair because she is a beautician. As a kid whenever anyone came to get their hair done, I would just sit there and watch the whole time. (How boring, I know. But I loved it!)
I have cut Colten’s hair since we started dating in high school and I even have regular appointments with my uncle and cousins. Whenever I went to girl’s camp or team camps or games, I would always be the hair braider. Every year at girl’s camp, I think I won the “Camp Hair-do Award”. I would always beg my little sister to let me braid her hair. This past year my freshman basketball team found out that I can do the little braids so it never failed on an away game I usually did 3-4 of their hair.
When my niece mentioned a while ago that she wanted a perm, I was seriously excited to do it. She has never had one before and didn’t want it to be too curly so we did really big rods hoping it wouldn’t make her have a mushroom top or be a ‘pyramid head’. It turned out really cute and not very curly at all. In fact it might could be a little bit more curly but it was a good trial run.
So the low-maintenance PE Teacher that I am, I do have a little of a girlie side to me.
