September Misc

Natalya all dressed up and ready for Church.

Talya has discovered where I keep my deodorant (among lots of other things she has also recently discovered which make me have to keep a much closer eye on her). Weird part is... she must really be paying attention to everything we do because this is how I caught her going around the house. I had no idea she even knew what to do with deodorant.

She has also been quite interested in books and movies. We recorded Pocahontas on the Disney Channel a while back and have let her watch it several times. She now LOVES anything Pocahontas and she begs to watch "Mocahontas... Mocahontas" as she tilts her head to the side and sticks out her bottom lip while saying it. Almost irresistible. Okay, it is irresistible. She will be sporting a cute little Pocahantas costume for Halloween this year.

Lately we have been going to the library to check out a few books each week. Her latest interests and favorite books from the library are: Pocahontas, Squirrels, and a Halloween book with Pumpkins.

We decided to go to the homecoming football game at Century High School. Colten has been doing a Sports Medicine shadowing thing in which he gets to stand on the sideline at the game with the docs and trainer so Talya and I sat up in the stands. It was packed seating on the home side so we actually went to the visitor side and I was able to watch some of the game while Talya ran all up and down the bleachers.

She spent 20 minutes fascinated by this little ladybug. I tried to get a picture with her and I looking at the camera but as you can see. Her eyes were glued to the lady bug crawling all over her.

There's Colten on the sideline, acting important.

Twins Game

Last Saturday, we drove up together with our friends to Minneapolis. Our first stop was IKEA. I have only been there one time many years ago and I seem to have a lot of friends here in Rochester that just adore this store. With that being said, I have been wanting to go again to see what is so special. We got to IKEA and headed straight to the restaurant for a yummy bite to eat. Very good and quite cheap as well! Then we walked through the entire store and surprisingly Talya was a sweetheart. There were many small and inexpensive gadgets that I just couldn't resist. Especially the baggie clips.

Our next stop, to kill a couple of hours before the Twins game, was Mall of America! We walked around one level and then let each of the kids ride a ride. Talya rode the carousal and loved it! She didn't want to get off and kept saying, "Again! Again!"

After a quick stop at Sonic to get a drink we headed downtown for the game. The game got a little bit of a late start and it was very windy and cold so we didn't make it the whole game. We headed out after the 5th inning, leaving the Twins beating the Indians 3-0. The final score ended up being 3-0 Twins, so we didn't miss a thing!

Harvest Classic

Today Colten and I ran the 5K Harvest Classic. This is a 5k/10k run in downtown Rochester. We started at Silver Lake and ran along the river and finished back at the lake. We pushed Talya in the stroller and thankfully she didn't make a peep the entire race. Colten was so kind to run with me, while pushing the stroller the entire time. I had two goals... 1. to finish under 30 minutes :)  2. to pass someone and I did both! The best is when we passed a couple of ladies and they were quite disappointed that the stroller was passing them. :) hehe!

9 new posts!

Just got around to posting everything that has happened since July. Check them out.

Labor Day

For Labor Day, we took a little road trip with the Nikolaus Family to La Crosse, WI. We drove over and had a picnic on the Mississippi River. Then just toured around the downtown part of La Crosse. We finished our day with a stop at an old fashioned and heavenly smelling, Pearl Ice Parlor. Best ice cream! Yum. :)

Maybe we made them pose like this, maybe not!

Ahhhhh... sleeping babies!

Tin Foil Dinners

A big group of us got together and cooked tin-foil dinners out at Oxbow Park. We had a great time letting the kids play and enjoying a night outside with yummy food.

Talya and her buddy, Brant, roasting marshmallows.

Notice the picture above and the picture below. Above: Talya sitting with the Nikalous Family with huge smile on her face while holding Gavin's hand. Below: Talya sitting with her family and thinking, "Yeah, mom is holding me down here for a family picture that I don't want to be in."

Thanks Katie and Brant for letting Talya be a part of your fun family every once in a while.

Swim Party

We have been enjoying some pretty hot days here at the end of August. So today we went to our friend's, the Gardner's, house and had a little swim party. Kids played... Mommies chatted! That's how it always goes.

Mmmmm.... Popsicles!
