Girl's Night Out

Last Tuesday us girls got together for Heather's B-day and just to catch up. We went to BJ's (Heather's pick haha) and it was very yummy!
I'm halfway cut out of this pic but I thought it was super cute of the other girls!

Me and Kylie with her cute hair!!!

Allison and Heather

All the girls!
We always have so much fun together! We were at BJ's for 3 hours talking! Pretty sure we were done eating within an hour, but stayed and talked for another 2! We always have so much to say, and our conversations could continue on for hours. But sadly, we always have to call it a night and get back to reality ;) Love you girls!!!

The New and Improved Bathroom

So, when we first moved in, I had this "idea" of a cute little bathroom with burnt orange walls.... So I attempted, and it just didn't work. I couldn't find shower curtains that matched well, or anything else for that matter. I would try different things, tryin to make it work and it just wasn't happening. SO, I decided that I would try faux painting over the orange and just give it a totally different look. I went to Home Depot that night, by myself thank you very much :) and picked out the metallic bronze and the glaze and did it that night. Here are the before pics......

And here are the after...................

Found a new shower curtain. Thank you Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I was nervous it wouldn't match but it actually goes really well. It looks way different in person. way better than it does in this pic.

Justin picked out the new light fixture and hardware... I can trust him with that stuff cuz we totally have the same taste. He did a great job!

It definitely looks way better in person, but hopefully you get the idea. I spent ALL Saturday night painting it. Started at 9 pm didn't finish until 7 am. Yes, Justin was sleeping.... He woke up as I was getting in bed. haha. He loves it and is very proud of me! Probably cuz all he had to do was take the tape off! But anyways, now I love my bathroom and I am happy that I never have to go shower curtain shopping again! (at least for a while!) I absolutely hate it!

Justin's Early B-day Present

So basically, Justin is the hardest person I have ever had to get gifts for. He doesn't care for small, dumb little things like clothes, giftcards, etc. And everything he wants like guns, fishing/camping stuff I know nothing about so it makes it very hard to buy him something that is the right type/style/brand/color etc. I had heard him say a few times how he wants a gun safe so bad. And his dad just recently got one and Justin loved it. So I decided that I would try to get him one for his birthday. I emailed his dad asking him for help on what kind/size/brand of safes Justin would like. After a couple weeks of searching, we found one that was exactly what we wanted at the right price. We found it at a place in UT and Justin's dad offered to bring it down for me which saved a few hundred bucks in delivery costs! So, his dad arrived on Friday night and Justin opened the door (after I had sneaked out and ran down the street to meet up with his dad and throw a bow on it lol) and was like "why did you bring your trailor, what's on it? Is that a safe???!!" Hahaha he knew exactly what it was as soon as he saw it. So he went out there and about died. The look on his face was awesome!!!

He is the most amazing husband in the world and definitely deserves a good birthday gift. Afterall, he's letting me leave to Disneyland the night of his birthday! haha. Anyways, thought I would update since it's been forever!

I love this woman

I already loved Beyonce, but this makes me love her even more. Beyonce, while in Sydney, Australia, brought this little 11 yr. old girl who is fighting cancer up on stage. You will probably cry. What an amazing video this is.

Banana's ROCK!!!!

My mom emailed this to me and i thought it was pretty awesome so thought i would share!

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas. He said the expression "going bananas" is from the effects of bananas on the brain.. Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!
This is interesting.
After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance.. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills.. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

This makes you wanna go eat a banana huh! Definitely at the top of my shopping list for Monday! Oh, and Justin totally puts his bananas in the fridge...weirdo. But he also likes them extremely green so whatever!

The "Before" and "After" pics of our new house!

Yes, I FINALLY have pictures. I found the charger to our camera so maybe i will start blogging again??! So, when we bought our house, it was nasty carpet, all white walls, gross gold light fixtures, gold door knobs(still are :/), gold everything! Take a looksy..............

That ugly bush is actually a tree.... it could be a really awesome tree too if they had taken care of it...

nasty, dirty carpet.

Ugly gold light fixtures...

So, we spent 25+ hours painting our entire house(except the future baby room haha), justin and my bro-in-law spent 25 hours (and 8 more to go) on putting our wood flooring in, we put in a few new light fixtures, seeded the lawn, I TRIED to decorate lol, and this is what our home currently looks like......

grass is KINDA coming in lol and we are gonna see what we can do with that tree before we rip it out....haha

The front entrance

Living Room

The Kitchen- we still need new appliances....one thing at a time right?!

My new chandelier that I am in love with.

My "attempt" at decorating, don't worry it's not done yet...

The Hallway

The messy office

but...I have my new computer :) which i am also in love with

Our new hall light. You should have seen the one that was there! It was RIDICULOUS!

The spare bedroom

The future baby room- for now, it's our storage unit

The bathroom- the orange walls are awesome. All I have been able to do is paint it, Now it's time to decorate it and strip the gold from it!

No this shower curtain is not staying there...I have just had the hardest time findinga cute shower curtain that compliments my orange walls. If anyone knows where I can find some funky/unique shower curtains- please let me know!

The master bathroom. We painted it a pale lime green, but we think we are gonna repaint it...... We're just not feelin' it. Think we might do a darker earthy color.

The master closet.

Our big backyard!

I want those dead trees gone! haha. Justin needs to get on it!

So, that's our house! Still a work in progress, but we love it! It definitely feels like home, and we know it's where we are supposed to be! We are so grateful for being so blessed in finding this home and being able to even get a home. We are so happy!
