Prayer Over Cancer Meeting

A very dear friend of mine Jessica sent this to me and I wanted to share it with everyone....

We have a date time and place for our Prayer Over Cancer Meeting. Thursday, May 20, 7:00 pm. Letson Farms Clubhouse in McCalla. Love for as many people who can to come join us!

Dear friends,
Its seems that lately most everyone has been affected in some way by cancer. Whether it be yourself, a friend or family member, or even just an aquaintance, we all know someone who suffers from this terrible disease. Yesterday at my morning small group when we giving our prayer request we were talking about the large # of people just lately that have been diagnosed with cancer.
We would like to plan a prayer time for all those who want to participate in praying against this terrible thing called cancer. This past January I experienced 21 days of fasting and corporate prayer. To see so many gathered together to humbly seek Jesus is a beautiful and amazing thing.
This will be a very non-intimidating prayer meeting, just a bunch of humble imperfect people who want to seek God for healing, peace, strength, faith, comfort, and hope during their battle, or the battle that we are witnessing a loved one going through. We will all pray together in whatever prayer style you are comfortable with. Silent, out loud....God hears them ALL.
Please let me know if you are interested in being a part of this, and please FORWARD this e-mail onto anyone you wish.
"I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them." Matthew 18:19-20

May All Glory Be to HIM,

Where to begin???

You may or may not know that my mom lost her job of 17 years at the first of the year so she had NO insurance until the 1st week of April which she has to pay out of her pocket..  April 20th was the day her/our lives changed forever..  When she got out of the hospital on Friday 4/23 she had a appointment with her oncologist that Monday morning to get the results from the biopsy and to start radiation.  When we got to the office her oncologists office manager wanted to talk to her about her insurance coverage.  Well she was told that her ins. co. said her condition was pre-existing!!!!  What the heck are they crazy?? Like she knew she had cancer or something!  She was told that she could keep seeing Dr. Holloday (radiologist) at Princeton for radiation but that they would not cover chemo w/ Dr. Lasker at Princeton that she would be responsible for paying for it ALL OUT OF POCKET!!!  Ok that is going to be a lot of money like $20k plus some and she still has no job and she cant get unemployment b/c she cant work..  So she was told she could go to Cooper Green and not have to pay as much as she would at Princeton.  Of course Mom, Chris & I looked at each other like UGH  Cooper Green but Dr. Lasker has his own clinic with 2 of his associates at Cooper Green so she would be seeing him not some stranger..  Anyway so she had 7 radiation treatments at Princeton and on 5/11 she had a chemo treatment and saw Dr. Lasker at Cooper Green.  It actually was not bad the staff there are GREAT so far..  Dr. Lasker and Dr. Holloday had a talk about what they should do as far as her treatments and they decided to change it.. At first she was going to get radiation on Mon., Wed., Thur., & Fri. and chemo (carboplatin & taxotere) on Tues..  Now she will get a stronger chemo meds (carboplatin & VP-16)and some radiation ..  She starts next week on she will have to be at C.G. on Mon., Tues., & Wed., Thur. to get a shot and then she is off for 3 weeks.  This will go on for 6 treatments and then they will give her more radiation and the lower dose of chemo then.  Her Dr. told her she would loose her hair and that is something I had just talked to her about.  I told her if she was that we needed to go and get her a wig now so the lady can match her hair color and style just like she has now and her exact words were " Well what if I want to be a red head one day and a blond the next"?  I about wrecked the car...  She also said that when she starts to loose it she was going to Larry's shop and she was going to have a Britney Spears head shaving party!!!  She is a mess!!!  Sorry that this post is a mile long.  Just continue to pray for her and our family as we go on this journey.
Before I forget to mention it there is going to be a benefit for her on June 19th @ River Cafe.  Larry Cantrell and 2 other people are putting this on for her.  They have had a gun from Simmons donated to auction off and a diamond pendant!!!  There is an account at America's First Credit Union set up
(act# 6048215-01 Debi Bynum Benefit) for her already.. There are going to be several things going on that day like a poker run, catfish fry, bake sale & all sorts of stuff.. I should have a flyer at the 1st of the week so I will post it if anyone is interested..  Thanks to all of you who have called, came by e-mailed, sent cards and dinner we really appreciate everything you have done for her..  WE love all of you!

Our little soccer player....

Most of you know that Colby has played soccer since he was in 2nd grade and he plays in the Spring and in the Fall.. When he started this year he was a little disappointed b/c he was playing on the U-11 team which is his age group but he usually plays up a league. Anyway before they even had their 1st game he got asked to play on the U-14 team and of course he was THRILLED!!! He is one of the smallest kids on the team but he is pretty dang good and can keep up with the oldest and the best players... :) So far they have won 6 out 6 games that they have played.... They are doing great!! Here are a few pictures from last nights game...

Chemo delayed until Tuesday...

So yesterday we saw Dr. Lasker (oncologist) and he scheduled for my mom to have chemo today after her Dr.'s apt. with Dr. Beardan to check her port and her scar from removing her lymph node.  The head nurse wanted us to call her if we thought we couldn't make it until after 12 b/c the  pharmacist leaves at 12 and they needed to make sure that her chemo was mixed up to get it.  Well today while we were waiting on Dr. Beardan to come in the room I called at 11:15 to let them know he would be in the room in a minute and we would be there before 12 and they said well we need to reschedule her chemo treatment for Friday or she can just start Tuesday when she is scheduled for her actual 2nd round! I thought UGH what in the world  r u crazy she needs to start TODAY!!!!! But u know things happen for a reason and we just said we would wait until Tuesday when she sees Dr. Lasker so now we are scheduled for her 1st round Tuesday...  When we saw Dr. Lasker yesterday he told us that she would have a small dose of chemo to start off and when she finishes her radiation he will start her on a stronger dose.  Just continue to keep us in your prayers!
