Spring Break… Easter… Mud Season?

Nicer weather means we get outdoors!  Going to the park is going to be a little different with Gracie! I forgot what it’s like to have a little one who doesn’t just run off to climb and swing all by themselves.  But it seems like I have some helpers!

Has anyone seen Gracie?  Where’s Gracie?  Oh… there she is!!!
Speaking of Gracie… I get that painful delight whenever I look at her.  I love how sweet and cute she is!  How squishy and lovable she is!   How happy and playful she is!  But I don’t want it to end!  I love the cuteness so much that I want it to last forever!

We didn’t make any big plans for spring break this year.  Lily and Annie took an art camp which they both loved!  And then we decided to pack everyone up and just drive south until it was a little warmer.  We had intentions of making it all the way to Albuquerque but because of the snow storm, it took us 2 hours just to get to Colorado Springs.  So we parked the car, got an ice cream and decided on Cheyenne Mountain Ranch in Colorado Springs.  I think that’s what God had intended for us, because we have been wanting to connect with our friends at the Realm of Caring for several years now.  The RoC is who we go through to get Lily’s medication.  Their hard work helped save Lily’s life.  Part of my own healing was being able to give Heather a hug! Heather is a mother to a boy with Doose Syndrome and she helped start the RoC.  Lily was on the wait list for her medicine when we got a text from Heather that said “She’s off the list.  Let’s get our girl better!”  With tears in our eyes, Jason texted her back “That makes me so happy I’m crying” in which Heather said “man up”.  Hahaha… you got to have a sense of humor or you’ll cry your eyes out! It just so worked out that they were in the office and able to see us while we were in Colorado Springs.  We got to share some tears and some hugs with people who “get it”.  We appreciate everything they do and have a very special place in our hearts for them!

So then we tootled around Colorado Springs!

And Gracie took her first dip in a pool!  A very cold pool!  We’ll have to try again sometime when it’s not so cold!

The older girls seem so much older now.  They get along better than most sisters.  This trip was our first time getting adjoining rooms.  They slept in their own hotel room and loved it! I’m just thinking through what it means to have a family of 5… 5 seats at a restaurant table, 5 plane tickets, 2 hotel rooms, only 4 on a ski lift… hmmm… I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Easter! In Christmas jammies!  Love it!  Lily and Annie “performed” on stage at Church for Easter.  Lily didn’t want us to clap for her, but it was ok for us to clap our finger only.  We looked silly I’m sure but as parents, you do what you can to make sure they’re not afraid of going on a stage!

So, we’re not adverse to change in our house!  At the end of March, Jason started a new job!  With this new job he’ll be traveling less and have more time at home!  It’s a change of pace for him because he’s use to a fast-paced company and working in the evenings.  His new boss told him to be patient and slow down!  We could use some slowing down around here!  He had to go to South Caroline for two weeks for training.  But grandparents came into town to lend me a hand.  Lucky little girls!  Or should I say lucky grandparents?

Jason got to pick out a new company car.  Gracie took it for a test drive.  She approves!
Which brings us to “mud season”.  That’s the season not many people want to rent a condo in Winter Park which means our condo is open for us to use.  And sometimes you get some really good snow in mud season which was the case this last weekend.  So much snow that the closed the pass for an hour giving us enough time to build a snowman on highway 40!
