All Aboard!

The Polar Express is in Lubbock and we got to take a ride to the North Pole! Everyone had a great time. You should have seen everyone's face when the train started moving. Kelton was so funny because he was worried about the train going backwards on the way to the North Pole. He informed us that the engine is supposed to pull not push! He was so happy on the way back that we were moving the right way. On the way to the North Pole the conductor walked around the train and punched all of the tickets. Then they gave us cookies and hot chocolate (or bottled water). Jace and Gage both thought that they just had to have the hot chocolate, but I don't think either one had more than that first drink. I think that they were playing the story of the Polar Express on the way to the North Pole. There was so much going on that I did not pay attention to it though. When we pulled up to the North Pole there were elves dancing and Santa was waiting for us. Santa and his elves joined us on the train! All of the kids told Sanata what they want for Christmas this year and Santa gave them all a bell! On the way back Santa walked around talking to the kids and the elves sang Christmas carols with us.

Thank you Grammy for taking us on a great adventure!

I took lots of pictures so if you are interested go here.

Ready to Potty Train?

As of today, Jace is 21 months old. Is he too young to be ready for potty training? For awhile now he has been telling us when he is poopy or asking us to change his diaper when he is wet. We just thought that maybe he would be easy to train when the time came. We did not imagine that time would come before he turned 2.

After lunch today Jace walked into the bathroom and tried to pull his pants down. I asked if he needed to go potty and he said yes. He has had Brent put him on the potty a couple times over the past couplle of weeks, but he never went potty. So I put him on the potty and after sitting on there for a long time he went poopy! Everyone was so excited!

He wanted to flush over and over again!

Jace could have sat on the potty all afternoon if we would have let him, but it was nap time. He cried and cried and did not want to put a diaper back on. Even though we were so proud of Jace, Brent and I did not think that this would go much further. However, before dinner Jace was ready to try again. He was back in the bathroom asking to go potty. He sat on the potty for awhile but did not go. I think he had just wet his diaper and really did not need to go at the time. We tried again after dinner and nothing. He was more interested in taking a bath. After the bath he tried again and that time he went tee tee and poopy in the potty!
We will see how tomorrow goes. Maybe this potty thing will still be as exciting for him then as it was today. Man, this changes alot. We may need to be looking at big boy beds!

Parent Teacher Conference

I love to hear that Caden is a good girl even when Brent and I are not around! Last week I sat down with Caden's teacher to hear about how well she is doing at school. Mrs. Rankin had lots of great things to say. Caden is able to recognize all of her shapes, knows all of the days of the week and can write her own name. She can recognize all of the letters of the alphabet except Q, L and V. When asked if she can say all of the months in a year she said, "January, February, March, April, June 11th." Too cute. She even skipped the month that she was born. We will have to work on those. We also need to work on yesterday and tomorrow. Caden can easily say the days of the week in order but if you say today is Monday so what day is tomorrow (or yesterday), she usually doesn't know the right answer. Mrs. Rankin says she is really good at cutting for her age. She can cut along a straight line, curved line, zig zag line and a wavy line. Even though Caden can easily write her name, she still needs to learn how to write in upper and lower case letters and how to write the letters correctly in the lines. Caden also got an A+ on her social skills!
I am so proud and just wanted to share!

Gage, You are in BIG Trouble Mister

Ashley just posted last week about her new interior decorator - her youngest son, Gage. Well, last weekend Ashley and the boys came to Lubbock to see Caden's last soccer game (I plan to steal pics from Ash and post about that later). During the visit, Gage must have given Jace some decorating tips. Jace decided to test them out on the pinball machine....

himself....

the spongebob rug....

and Caden's vanity.

I know what you are thinking. How did he get ahold of the markers? Well, they were put up where a little boy could not reach them UNLESS he found a chair to stand on! Luckily, the marker came off of everything except the rug and the rug didn't have that much damage.

Soccer Weekend

We had a great soccer filled weekend last weekend. Grandma, Shandra, Airiana and Shayne came from San Angelo to see Caden play soccer on Saturday and Airiana had 2 games on Sunday.
Here is everyone (except Shayne and Jace because they were kicking the soccer ball around) on the side lines.
Grandma, Brent, Airiana, Shandra, Grammy, Papaw and Caden in front

Caden is holding up 2 fingers for the two goals that she made that game. I was so excited about the first goal that I was jumping up and down and screaming! I was a little less crazy after the second one.

Some action shots

Shayne and Caden after the game. Caden got the VIP ribbon this time! Coach Dawn gives the ribbon to a different player each game. This was another one of Caden's best games and we definitely think she earned the ribbon!

The next morning Shayne and Caden had a tea party - notice the pinkies!

Jace wishing he was old enough to play too (the tea set is breakable)

Ready to go watch RaRa (Airiana) play soccer!

The kids playing soccer - for about one minute

There were a ton of stickers in the grass around these fields and it wasn't long before Caden had one stuck in her finger. Poor thing. Brent had to go all the way back to the car (for some reason Airiana's games were on the fields that were the farthest from the parking lot) to get tweezers and still couldn't get it out. Caden spent the rest of the game sitting with Grandma. In between the 2 games we went to get some lunch and the kids changed their flip flops for tennis shoes. Caden was still very cautious about the stickers during the second game, but she did play with the other kids for a little while.

Airiana was so sweet and bought the girls matcing shirts. They looked so cute!
Another pose!

Glad It's Over

Halloween is probably my least favorite holiday. Mostly because I am a big weenie. I do NOT like all of the scary movies and other scary Halloween stuff AT ALL. It seems like every channel has something Halloween related the whole month of October. Even the kids channels had shows that I thought were a little scary. Caden tried to be brave and watch some of the shows, but being brave led to nightmares a couple of times. The night before Halloween Caden woke up 3 or 4 times because she was having bad dreams. At one point that night I stood outside of her room waiting to see if she would be able to go back to sleep. She sat up straight in her bed and said think about puppy dogs and kitty cats over and over again (One time Grammy told her that when Grammy has a bad dream she tries to think about puppy dogs and kitty cats instead). It made me so sad to hear how scared she was. After I laid down with her she settled down enough to go back to sleep.
Even though I do not like the scary stuff, I do enjoy getting the kids dressed up and taking them Trick or Treating. We always go to my parents house and trick or treat in their neighborhood. This year the kids decorated cupcakes first. Jace was more intested in eating than decorating, but Caden did a good job with the decorating.
After decorating the cupcakes we got the kids ready to go. Jace was not very excited about his costume and fought me at first. We eventually convinced him to wear it though after explaining that he was going to get some candy.

Tinkerbell and the Brave Knight heading out the door.
We could not get Jace to wear his crown. Brent knew that he loves to wear his hat so he suggested that we put the crown on his hat and it worked like a charm!

We didn't get very far before Jace tripped and dumped his candy.

My beautiful Tinkerbell
My brave knight with his sucker. At first he tried to give his sucker away instead of holding up his basket for more candy, but he quickly figured out how trick or treating works.

I had to get a picture of Caden and Grammy walking together since I have one for every other year.
Waiting to see if anybody was home.
Caden found a friend, Ellie, and she went door to door with us. She was such a sweet girl.
At the last house Jace decided he was done so he just sat down. Grandma always talks about how Brent did stuff like that when he was little!
Showing how much candy she got.

Trying to hold up his basket full of candy. Sticking your tongue out must help.

Back at my parent's house enjoying the candy.
