Preschool Graduation

Shayla graduated from Kiddie Kollege.  She had a cute little graduation program last night.  Her part in the program was to spell her name and the nursery rhyme "Mary had a little lamb".  She was a little nervous when we first got there because there was a lot of people.  She did such a great job though.  She sang all of the songs and did the actions and did her part just great.  I don't know why but I get nervous for my kids before they have to perform.  I had just as many butterflies in my stomach as she did.  She had such a fun year in preschool and met lots of friends.  Her first friend other than Parker who is her cousin was Quintin.  Then she branched out a little more and started to play with a group of girls Zoee, Chloe and Hanna.  She loved her teacher, Mrs. Cambria.  She has grown up so much over the past year.  I love being her mom and I am so greatful for the time I have to teach her and just be with her.

Carter loved watching the preschool program and joined in with singing and actions.  He was so excited for Shayla and kept yelling her name and waving at her throughout the program.  At the end of the program there teacher called there names to give them there little diplomas and when Shay's name was called Parker says "That's my Shayla".  It was very cute.

After the graduation we took Shayla to "Build a Bear" where she got to make any stuffed animal she wanted.  She has been earning money to go there and we decided to put up the rest of the money and let her do that for preschool graduation.  She had the best time of her life.  She picked a unicorn and named it Sara.  She also picked a balerina outfit for her unicorn to wear.  Carter really wanted a pig but Daddy said "no".  She got to put a heart on the unicorn. Then she picked a star and had to close her eyes and make a wish.  She put the star inside the unicorn before closing it up.  It was a fun night and I am sad her preschool class is over.

Spring is here

We had such a fun weekend with the kids and we got so much done around the yard. I think it was the first time that I was able to put the kids in shorts. Shayla had a great time riding her bike and Carter is starting to pedal. He can go once or twice around and then looses his concentration and starts to use his feet. While Dale sprayed the weeds me and the kids enjoyed a treat. I love that my fall work payed off and my tulips are starting to bloom.

A little story about each of the kids:

Carter made us all laugh the other night. He put on one of Shayla's dress up hats and came out laughing at his head and pointing and saying "shayla's hat" and then laughing some more. He wore the hat while he was playing all the while laughing at himself. We kept laughing because he was being so silly. I think he is going to be our little clown in the family.

Shayla keeps coming up with these words that blow us away like this week her word is metamorphosis. She will say it means a big change like when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. She is our little sponge and soaks in anything that she hears.

I love all the family time that we were able to have this weekend. I was even able to have a girls night out and went to the temple with some of my friends. We celebrated Amy's birthday and went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was a lot of fun to catch up and be together.

New!

It feels so good to get new things.  We got new couches, Yea!  I even like them better in my house then I did when we picked them out in the store.  We decided on leather because with kids and especially with Carter it is just easier.  All we have to do is wipe off the stuff he leaves behind with his sticky fingers.  For some reason he always has sticky fingers no matter how many times I wash his hands.  Thank You Dale for letting me have new couches I love them.

Easter Sunday

Easter in the words of Shayla:

The Easter bunny came he brought us eggs and treats and toys.  He um he hopped around our house.  When I woke up I thought he was still there. Early in the morning I thought he was still there.  He brought me a chick, he brought Carter a dog um he just looked at our eggs.  He brought me a Dora tent and a spinner.  Easter is really about Jesus because he died for us and he will live again. Mom do you know what live again means..it means to come back.  At church me and Cambrie colored a picture of Jesus coming alive again out of the tomb.  He came alive after 3 days.  When I see him again I will be able to see the stuff on his hands that they put in him on the cross.

We had a great Easter.  We celebrated with Dales family.  We cooked the ham and it turned out delicious along with all the other yummy things everybody brought.  We went to a park and took pictures and played.  Then that night we decided to take a trip with the Beulo's over to Wendover for the night.  Shayla loved staying in the hotel and going swimming.  Carter loved opening all the drawers in the hotel and sleeping in a great big bed.  We had a great time together and it was a nice little get away.

Easter Lilies

Today was filled with lots of adventure.  We started the morning out with an Easter Egg hunt in Clearfield.  I teamed up with Carter in the 0-2 and Shay was with Dale in the 3-4 age group.  While we were waiting Carter was picking up eggs and putting them in his basket.  I kept taking them out and putting them back on the grass.  My kids both ended up with 2 eggs.  I didn't realize that I coud help Carter  and Shayla was being to polite and asking Dale "can I pick up this one?" and then some other kid would grab it.  Carter and Shayla were very satisfied with there two eggs.  We saw Rusty there and he was so generous to share some of his eggs with Carter and Shayla.  Thanks, Rusty.
After the egg hunt we came home to catch some of conference and the Bodily's joined us for some egg dying.  The kids loved it. Carter loved dropping the egg in the dye and coloring them with markers.  Shayla was also very excited and wrote her name on one of her eggs.  They each got to color four eggs.
Later that afternoon me and the kids went to Amy's house for dinner and a movie while Dale went to the priesthood session with Trevor and Jason.  They went to Lone Star for dinner and we ate from Noodles and Company.  After dinner we watched the Chipmunk movie and Shayla laughed through the whole thing with her cousins. She even got to go outside and jump on the tramp which she loves to do.  It was fun to spend time with my sisters and laugh about all the sily things that happen in our lives.  I am so lucky to have such great sisters as my friends.
Earlier in the day we stopped off at Cathy's grave and put some Easter lilies on it.  Shayla loves visiting grandma's grave and often calls the cemetery "heaven".  I am so grateful for Easter and what it means to us.  We talked to Shayla about why we celebrate Easter. That it means because of what Jesus Christ did for us we will be able to see grandma again. Her answer was "I know".  I love the faith that little children have and hope to have that same kind of faith.

The Mayan

We decided to treat ourselves to a night out with the kids.  We haven't been to the Mayan forever and thought the kids would love the atmosphere.  We invited all of my sisters to come along but Amy's family were the only ones able to come along.  We switched kids on the way down and Shay rode with them and Garrett came with Carter.  The boys fell asleep on the way and Shayla talked their ear off the whole way down.
Carter was a little scared because it was so dark inside. Shayla thrived off all that was going.  She loved watching the show and thought "it was magic".  We had a great time.  Carter even warmed up to the show although he still wanted to be held.  We even got to take pictures with one of the divers.

On a side note I have to post a little about what I discovered in the bathroom.  Carter was standing on his stool combing his hair and singing a song.  It was so cute I couldn't help but smile.
