Easter Sunday

Happy Easter!  I love getting my kids all dressed up for Easter!  They had such a fun morning, finding easter baskets and eggs.  I don't know about the easter Bunny but I am exhausted after the days events. It's amazing how much they love to find eggs. Since Friday my kids have been involved in 4 Easter egg hunts.  Addie would get so excited finding them and had to yell out "egg" when she would put it in her basket.  When the hunt was over she was still looking under things to make sure they had all been found.  Carter was very fast this year.  He was all over getting as many as he could.  Shay was very steady and slow due to her arm.  It would hurt if she moved to fast.
Easter Morning

Easter Egg Hunts

As my kids older I notice that they are ready to understand the true meaning of Easter. This year Shayla has asked lots of questions about the easter story. This year Easter has brought sadness and joy as she understands what our savior did.  She realizes that she will see her grandma Cathy again one day.  She is very excited to talk and play with her.  She misses her often as we all do. Easter is a reminder to all of us what our Savior did so that we may see loved ones again.

Broken Arm

Tonight around 4:30 we heard crying in the backyard.  I thought it was Addie but soon realized it was Shayla.  She was getting off the tramp when she lost her balance and landed with elbows first to the ground. She was crying hysterically.  I got her inside and couldn't see any apparent damage but she was screaming her left arm hurt.  I laid her downstairs to watch a show and calm down.  She had a very difficult time settling down. I got her some medicine but the tears went on for about 2 hours stopping briefly here and there.  Anytime she would get bumped or the chair would move we had more tears. She can be a little dramatic at times so we weren't sure if we should rush her up.  We had a Easter party with my family that night and we thought we would watch her and see if she got any better. I put her in my baby sling to help stabilize her arm and that seemed to help. The tears finally stopped but she was still in pain.  We took her up to the clinic and she was doing much better. She was very scared the doctor would hurt her by moving her arm but when that time came she was very calm and said it only hurt a little bit.  Dale and I exchanged glances because at home she was screaming and now it only hurts a little bit.  The x-ray tech was her primary teachers wife so she felt very comfortable with her.  She really showed signs of pain when they bent her arm for the x-ray. My heart hurt to see her in such pain.  From what me and Dale could tell the x-rays looked fine.  We didn't see any breaks.  About 20 minutes later the doctor came in announcing "It's  broke".  I guess it's hard to see because her arm was swollen and that is common.  They put her in a temp cast and wrap and then a cool sling to go with it.  We go back in for the cast in a couple of days.  Her break is at the elbow so it very painful for her when it's gets moved.  She was so super brave at the doctors that we thought she might have been faking.  Her biggest concern was that she would get made fun of. Everyone reassured her that having a cast is the cool thing! Oh, what am I going to do with my child who has been independent since day 1 and now I have to help her get dressed.  P.j.'s were not the funnest thing to change into when we got home.

On the drive home Shayla let me know that today was "Good Friday".  She then said "mom I don't think it has been a very good Friday for me.

date nights

Date nights are the best! We went to the temple and then to dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  I love the rolls!  It was a great night until I realized it was a school night and the kids were still at my sisters house.  They were half sleeping when we picked them up and I felt guilty.  Poor Shayla was very concerned about getting enough sleep for school.  Addie was rubbing her eyes and Carter was at the door as soon as we walked in begging for his bed. Wendy said they were really good and she didn't mind but I felt horrible.  Next time it's going to be fast food on the way home.

St.Patricks Day

St.Patricks Day fun!  We woke up to our pictures turned upside down, toys brought upstairs and gold coins lining our front room.  Those silly leprechauns!  We decided to make some fun treats, the kids loved making these rainbow cupcakes.  We had chicken Alfredo for dinner and we colored the noodles.  The kids really loved this.  What a fun day!

Shays bday

Ballet invitations are sent out.  All 14 are planning on coming.
This invite idea came from alittleloveliness.blogspot
I used my silhouette, some sequins, a hole puncher and tulle.

Waiting for friends to come...

I think someone is finally here...

We are ready to get the Party started!

Yummy treats were placed all around the table!

They each filled a little bag with yummy treats and decorated ballet cookies

I made each little girl a personalized cup.  It's nice because then they always know what cup is theirs.

They each picked a tutu to wear.

A Ballerina came to teach them some dance.  They were are all so cute as they shared ideas and danced.  Megan was an amazing dance teacher!  She kept the girls so engaged and they had a great time!

They love that she wore real Ballet shoes!

Happy Birthday to my sweet little Ballerina! I can't believe she is seven.  I love the little lady she is growing into. I gave her a Taylor Swift card and I have to share what it said because I love it so much...Here's to magic.  Here's to fairy tales. Here's to perfect moments and unforgettable memories and always here's to you. Happy Birthday to an incredible daughter.
(ok so I guess this wall gets really good lighting)

I hope you dance your way through life

 We love you Shayla!

Taking Addie to the store has become all about Addie.  She has to have or touch anything that has a character she likes.  She started to squeal out  "Mouse, Elmo, mine". She is wearing an elmo backpack while carrying a Minnie Mouse backpack and trying on Mouse glasses.  She does not like to sit in the cart because then she can't touch all of the stuff she needs too.  She is such a character herself!
We didn't even make it very far when she saw these bunny chairs and had to try them out.  She loves animals!  Her favorites right now are ducks and mouses.  She gets so excited!  I will try harder to keep her in the cart in the future but it is becoming a chore to do so.

four wheeler

It doesn't take much to make this little boy happy!  He was super excited to finally ride his four wheeler outside. Santa brought it what seems like months ago but it was finally nice enough outside to take it for a spin.  He can maneuver it around pretty well.  When he got himself in a tight spot he would throw it in reverse and try again.  However when it was time to go in he was reluctant to get off.

Saturday, March 2, 2013

I love March!  The sun was shining today.  I need the sun.  This has been a really cold and dark winter.  Tonz of snow and ice.  Dale suggested we go on a walk today and I was reluctant because it is still cold.  We compromised on  a short one. Carter rode his car, Addie found a new place to sit in the stroller, and Shayla rode her bike but fell and landed in the snow. We had some tears and cold hands but she survived.  Even though we may have only made it around the block it was still lovely to be outside and feel the warmth of the sun.

I was trying to get a picture of Addie's cute little St.Patrick leggings so I told her to smile.  She ran over and stood against my wall ready for her picture.  I don't feel like I take a lot of pictures against the wall but I must because she knew right where to go.

Shay's Birthday table

At Mountain View they have a Birthday table at the beginning of each month.  Shayla was really excited for us to come and eat lunch with her.  We were running behind a few minutes so when we got there she was panicked that she wouldn't be able to eat her lunch before she had to line up.  Shayla is a time nazi.  She worries about being on time and following the rules.  We ate on the stage and she even got a prize for her birthday.  Carter loved it because Shayla went and bought him a chocolate milk.  They were also celebrating Dr. Suess day with cake at lunch time.

Happy Birthday Dr.Suess

Meet Yurdle!  Shayla's Dr.Suess animal she had to create for school.  This Yurdle loves to eat cotton candy, and chocolate candy bars.  She has 8 legs.  Her teacher had all the parents come to the Suess Zoo so we could see all the creatures made.  Shayla loved telling her Yurdle story. Happy Birthday Dr.Suess!
