Dayley Christmas party 2011

The Shumways had our Dayley family Christmas party at their home this year.  Mom, Dad, Lee, Tate and Gage drove to Lovell, Wyoming for Grandma Powells funeral. We went ahead and had the party even though we missed some of our family.
Jenny served Mexican food.  It was all delicious.  After dinner we had a gift exchange.  I forgot to bring gifts so she found some gifts around her house so my kids could play.
Jacob and James, the two oldest grandsons.
Hannah was number 8 in the game.
Porter, Lila and Annie.
Carson, Colton, Porter
Grant and I
Katie got a box of vitamins, and a cup filled with some powder juice.
Hannah got a petshop!  She looks thrilled.
Dawson, Braden and Sam.
It was a great night.  Thanks for hosting the party Jen!

Now and Then 2011

Katie has come home for Christmas.  She had a great idea to reinact some old pictures.  So we did a few!
This is James in August 2002 starting kindergarden! He was 5 yrs and now he is 15yrs. James has been doing his own hair since kindergarden, it has changed much.  Just gotten darker.  I loved that white blonde hair around his face.
James and Annie Christmas morning 2004. James was  8 and Annie was 2 1/2 yrs.
Now James is 15 and Annie is 9.
Katie was 8 years old and she got Kit Kittridge American Girl doll for Christmas.  She is now 18!
Katie was in 2nd grade. James was in preschool. Now we have 2 freshman: one in college and one in high school.  I am thankful they were such great friends when they were little.  I am thankful they are still great friends as teenagers!
Whenever Katie and James watch arthur on PBS kids they would sit in this chair next to each other.  I still have the chair.  I don't think they fit anymore!
Annie is 1 yr old.  She is now 9yrs.  She is a happy, fun girl! Stay tuned for some more pictures!  We will be taking them all week!

My Son is 15 years

This morning at 6:30 the little girls were fast asleep. James waited for them to wake but neither stirred.  So I opened their door and turned the hall light on.  I went around the house singing Happy Birthday dear James.  The next thing both girls came running fast out of their room ready to wish James a happy birthday.
James is such a fun, loving, happy, hands on brother.  He plays with his sisters like they are his best friends.  Running around the house playing tag, hide and go seek and dodge ball.  He doesn't have a brother but he doesn't seem to mind.  His three sister will do just fine.   I love how he is 15 and puts his arms around both sisters.  They love him and really look up to him.
Hannah and I went to James high school to take him to lunch at Joes Farm House.  They give everyone on their birthday $10 towards their meal. James had a cesear salad and a pulled pork sandwich.  It was quite fun watching him eat with vigor.  He was enjoying his free birthday lunch!
Katie wrote a birthday post for James on her blog.  It was so tender and sweet.  She and James have been close from the moment he was born.  We had Katie and James alone for a long time.  Katie was 9 and James was 6 before Annie was born.  So they played and did everything together.  It warms my heart and makes me so happy to see that my children love each other and have a personal and close relationship.

James has always been a whole lot of fun.  His laugh is contagious! He makes everything fun. That is one of his talents. People just like to be around him. I admire his desire to be valiant.  His is an example to me. Every night I will peek into his room to say good night and he is reading his scriptures.  He doesn't miss a night.  He is striving to be obedient in all he does.  I know Heavenly Father will bless him in his life.  I look forward to seeing what great things James will do in his life.  Great blessings are coming his way.

(Notice Katie is away at BYU-I but her picture is on the computer screen.  So we see her beautiful face daily. Miss her so much)
