Happy 46th birthday sweetheart!

It was not much of a birthday! He spent the day working, came home at dinner for 15minutes before brothers and their families came over for cake and ice cream.  One hour later he was at the church for interviews and meetings.
The girls had a 1/2 day on Friday, so we took Grant to Gecko Grille for a birthday lunch.

Ron made Grant the famous "german chocolate" cake.  We came over to have a piece on the mouth watering, moist, buttery cake. Ron loves to bake this cake for almost any occasion!

Roosevelt Lake

Well, we did it!  We went camping.  Which is not an activity we are very talented in.  Last year we went camping with our friends Anne and Tyler Hillstead.  This year we went with our new friends Matt and Jill Wellock. It was quite an adventure.  Jill made dutch oven tilapia for dinner.  We had black lights looking for scorpions.  We found scorpions but also found a rattle snake just a few feet from our camp. About 4 am the coyote pack was out in full force.  It was quite freaky!  James and Truman slept outside the family tent.  They are real men! James hung a hammock and Truman was brace to sleep on a cot.  We thought for sure the coyotes were going to visit them.
We ate breakfast and packed up camp quickly! Because the best water is in the early morning.  This lake was beautiful.  There were only a few fisherman on the lake that early.
James was the first in the water.  He has learned to clear the wake when jumping.  So there are lots of pictures of him clearing the wake.

Next was Annie, this is her 3rd summer wake boarding. She is getting really good.  She pops out of the water with ease.  She is practicing "S" curves and going over the wake.  I am impressed with how well she is doing.  She is a natural! Much better than me! Because I stink at wake boarding.  My job is to take pictures, bring food, and swim in the lake.  Everyone knows my job!

 I love this picture!

I love this picture too.  James sat on the  back of the boat and helped Hannah.  She did so great!

This time we let the rope out and pulled her up out of the water.  On her first try she popped right out of the water.  We were all yelling and cheering from the boat.  Hannah is 6 and has never wanted to wake board, until today. She decided she has watched everyone long enough.  It was time for her to wake board.  Amazingly she did so good!  She stayed up for a long time.

I love this smile on her face.  She is so proud of herself.
Grant is fun for me to watch.  He is turning 46 years old next week and still does all the things the kids do.  Way to go Dad!
Catching some air and waving "HI"
James' swim suite matches our tube!
Tubing time!  We whipped these kids around the lake for 3 hours.  They are all going to be so sore tomorrow.

Cool to catch the water drops in mid air.

 The Dam at Roosevelt lake.

Hannah was so brave with all the big kids.  Usually she like to go semi slow.  But today she rode the tube like a professional.  VERY FAST!  On our last run of the day, Hannah and James hit a big wave and went flying into the water.  I knew Hannah would be hurt. She came up crying and James swam her to the boat.  Her foot must have slapped the water, she was now to tired and done with the tube.  It was time to go home.
Our friends are from Washington State.  They were marveling over our gorgeous AZ sunsets.  In Washington you never see a sunset because of the mountains and trees.  I do believe we have beautiful sunsets here in AZ.  Another fun sumer of boating is coming to an end.  We will try to hit the lakes hopefully one more time.

Laurie Tietjen is 50

Laurie, Marty and Sara Tietjen moved from Kansas to Sacramento, CA this summer.  Laurie turned 50 on July 29, so those family members who could come to Flag staff on August 3 were here to party.  Ron let Hannah help make the family German Chocolate Cake. She loves to help in the kitchen.
Gloria and Hannah are now 6 years old.
Grant, Rob, Kelli, Laurie, Brenda and Ron Coon.  We were missing Matt, Paul and Dad Coon.
Some of the fun cousins enjoying the rain and cooler weather.
 Niki, Laurie, Debbie and Jill
After dinner we played games.  This family are game people.  The silly games are the best because everyone likes to laugh!

Abby was playing airplane with the little cousins. She flipped Hannah.
 She flipped Annie.

Laurie thought she would try it out.  She is so thin she weighs as much as the kids.  Abby put her in the air and flipped her.  AMAZING!

We have changed schools.  The girls are now wearing uniforms!  The girls were so excited to start school again.  I think this is going to be what we were needing and wanting.
Annie is 10 yrs and in 6th grade.  She turns 11 in one month
Hannah is 6 1/2 and starting 1st grade!
I hope they love the first day of school!
