The Painting is Done!

We have decided that we will not be painting another room for a long time...especially not while pregnant. Here are pictures of the nursery all painted!

Below is a picture from this past weekend at a wedding we went to in the botanical gardens. I am 25 weeks along now!

The Painting Continues

We have been painting for the past two evenings after work. After two coats her room looks great! I plan on taking the tape off the walls tonight and seeing how it all looks, hopefully there won't be too many touch-up spots. Here are a few pictures of the painting, the crib, and gifts that JT got from work! They threw him a small shower at lunch that was FULL of pink stuff. :) I told him, ready or not, here comes the pink.

The picture explains it all. We were pretty tired of painting, and it's not that big of a room! JT was painting right above the base boards and I told him we were done. Well, he immediately stopped and took a little cat nap. Professional painter will not be the next career for either of us.

The Start of the Nursery

My husband is really the greatest. Much to my surprise he cleared out the guest room that was full of stuff that we just didn't know what to do with while I was working late on Monday. And it was a lot of stuff! What a sweetie. Then he came home early yesterday and had put together the changing table! I walked into the nursery (since it's no longer a guest room, we are calling it the nursery now!) and saw the empty box the changing table was in on the floor in the corner. Then I turned to my right and there it was all put together! What an awesome surprise.

We then cleared out all the stuff that he couldn't lift by himself so I could tape off the doors and windows to get ready to paint tonight. We felt bad taking away the bed as that has been the cat's sanctuary, but we didn't feel too bad. :) I then spent some time getting all the tape up around the doors and windows so we can get to painting tonight. I picked a very pale green that's called Palm Breeze, sounds soothing, right? Hopefully it is when we are dealing with a screaming baby at 3 am. Here are some before shots of the nursery.

We will see how far we get on the painting tonight. I plan to keep posting pictures as we get things done. Stay tuned.

The Three Little Mamas

I guess I missed the memo where people called pregnant women "little mama". I have had so many people call me that, including my mom. I decided to call my two pregnant friends and I "The Three Little Mamas", kinda like The Three Amigos. Here is an updated picture of the three little mamas from last weekend. We are at 19, 23, and 27 weeks respectively. I think it's so cool to see the progression just in this picture! Not to mention how cute we look :) Kara had found out earlier that day that she will be having a little girl! Mari has known since she was 13 weeks that she is having a boy... very jealous that she found out so early when I had to wait until 21 weeks. :) 2 girls and boy, couldn't have thought of a better scenario for us. It's so awesome to go on this journey with each other and get excited for one another. Just can't wait for our little ones to play together!

Good Little Husbands and Cadillac Gliders

Whew! We registered at Babies R Us on Saturday and I am still recovering. We were there for over 3 hours, and for someone who is not a shopper that is an eternity. But, I feel good about the selections we... err, I made. JT was a good little husband and just followed along behind me doing things I asked. He got different strollers down so I could test drive them and this was not a small task considering it was a Saturday afternoon with lots of pregnant or newly unpregnant women. He figured out how to work them (even getting out the manual in the store) and gave his two cents when asked :) He also went to Sonic to hit up their happy hour that was across the street...mostly to give him somthing else to do and I was thirsty. Thank goodness for half price Cherry Limeades. We picked out everything from a stroller (thanks to JT's stroller figuring out abilities) to wash cloths to lotion to chaning pads. LOTS to choose from. LOTS. We even decided to go ahead and buy a glider (rocker) that we both really like. Apparently it's the "Cadillac" of gliders and the price reflects that, and takes 10-12 weeks to get here! Now, my only question is why would they have something on the sales floor to test drive that takes 3 months to get? The salesperson wasn't the most helpful either when I told him I wanted to put it on my registry. His response was "I don't usually like doing that." Because it takes so long to get it delivered and because it would requrire him to look up the model number...not impressed. Does he know that he is talking to a cranky, tired pregnant women? I said "Well nevermind then". Then he said "Sorry to rain on your parade". Well, you did! After registering some more, we decided that we did still want that particular glider and to go ahead and buy it ourselves now to ensure that we would in fact even get it, and get it before December. Stupid Cadillac glider. All in all it was a good trip to Babies R Us with only minor meltdowns on my part.

Your crib or mine?

Here is the crib that I ordered last night online (not the whole furniture set, I just like the set-up in the picture). I decided awhile back that I like the all white furniture look. I have looked at what seems like every crib out there and finally decided to go with this one. It's a pretty simple design, something I know I will like in the years to come. It converts to a toddler, day and full size bed if we opt to go that way later down the road. It also has to coveted drop down side that all mom's swear by (to lower a sleeping baby with relative ease). I found this at Walmart for a pretty good price AND with free shipping to the store of my choice! Otherwise, it would've cost $96 to ship to the house, YIKES. All we have to do is pick it up at the store (in 7-10 days according to Walmart.com) and not have to hassle with shopping AT the store...we all know how Walmart can be. So, hopefully it all goes smoothly and they will let me know once the crib arrives.

This weekend I plan on picking out a paint color for the nursery and we plan on going to the dreaded Babies R Us to finish up registering...which I am guessing will take quite awhile. Hopefully I won't go into shock with all the decision and choices we are faced with. I am not good with decisions. At all. But, I have done a lot of reading on what products are good and feel pretty good going into it...but we will just have to see. Another busy weekend ahead! Can't wait to get everything all set up for her, it's going to be great.
