Mariner of the Seas

Last week, Jason and I went with a group of people from Arkansas on a seven day cruise to Labadee, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel where we relaxed on the beach, did a jungle canopy tour (The ride getting there was actually more terrifying than being harnessed to a cable and flying over the treetops of the jungle. I saw my life flash before my eyes more than I care to remember!), parasailed, swam with dolphins (I wasn’t so sure about that, but Jamie said I would like it…and turned out she was right!). Jason and Donnie decided that renting I was also chosen to participate in a “reality show/program” on the ship called “project co-cruise director.” It started with ten contestants and we had to do all sorts of things such as give a speech, line dance, and obstacle course, and then finally karaoke (between me and another guy) throughout the week to narrow down to the final two. The winner was to be announced at the two farewell shows on Saturday night and they got to be part of the show (plus prizes to take home). All the voting was done by my fellow passengers, and I got the call that I had won!!! If you know me, you know I was on cloud nine. I had so much fun participating in that and being part of the show was such fun. I even had to chance to wear my ball gown again which made me happy. I had the opportunity to meet the captain of the ship, the WHOLE entertainment crew, and the production teams just like the actual cruise director. You would have thought last week I was in a musical because I sang so much. I don’t like the casino, so I made my way to sing with the “piano man,” the “Irish Pub Man” (whose name is Jimmy and is actually from Hawaii…he was very sweet to our group and we all sang with him pretty much every night), and the karaoke stage. It was tough to go back to work yesterday…especially with these “sea legs” I can’t seem to get rid of…

Inaugural Ball

Tuesday night, Jason and I dressed up and joined my parents to attend the Beebe Inaugural ball. We had a wonderful time and got lots of pictures. I met Jimmie Lou, Ginger Beebe (I had already met our new governor), and “The Platters.” I can’t remember the last time I put on a formal dress and Jason wore a tux. It was truly a night to remember!

Holidays cont...

Over Christmas, my camera was dropped and stopped taking pictures which is why I haven't been posting blogs. I did replace it, but I haven't been able to retrieve the pictures I have when Jason's family came to visit over New Years. We did have a wonderful time and enjoyed having them here. I apologize to them for the lack of a post from their trip!
