MJ and my Birthday!

Friday night, we had a Michael Jackson Theme party to celebrate lots of birthdays. We co-hosted the party with our friends, Brandie & Trey and Lori & Bryan. Lori was in charge of the cake and I think it couldn't have turned out any better! It looked like something off of television and tasted amazing!

The drink of the evening was called Propofol Punch! (hopefully that's not too offensive to those reading this!) The little cups had little Diprivan labels on each one.
I set up a Neverland Ranch with my old "Little People" toys. I'm sure the Fisher Price people never intended for their toys to be used this way, but it made for a cute display!

Here are the "girl" hosts: Brandie, me, and Lori....
The food table complete with a cheesy disco ball...and as goofy as that sounds, it made for a great party decoration in person.
I wasn't sure how a Michael Jackson party would be, but it turns out, it makes for a very fun theme! ...and what would any blog post be without a mention of our diddle dumpling...here's a little video from our not-so-eventful day:

ILS/Workforce Dance

The dance was a huge success! We expected around 100 guests and 120 showed up to the dance. I was so worried we weren't going to have enough food, but we wound up with several left over pizzas, lots of cookies, and chips that we donated to a local homeless shelter. All in all, it was a wonderful night and everyone seemed to have a great time!

Too pooped to play!

I went to lunch with Jeni, Tonya, Bella, and Cade and somebody was very facinated by Bella. He would try to grap her face and give her slobbery kisses! He's such a sweet little buddy!!!

I stepped out of the room for a second to grab the phone and when I came back, this is what I found...

Here are a few pictures of Jeni's house. I love how she has things decorated! There are several ideas I plan on using at some point.....

A bunch of nothing!

I love to watch the Today Show, and I have loved this bracelet of Meredith's since she joined the show. It was given by her family as a good luck charm and she wore it every single day. I lost a diamond ring a couple of years ago and was SICK about it. I read that she lost her bracelet...I'm a little sad about this too b/c it means I won't be seeing it anymore. I know there are bigger problems in life than losing a piece of jewelry, but it was an awesome piece of jewelry!!!
I am the chair for the Independent Living Services/Workforce dance and it will be tomorrow night. I am so excited for this event! These people look forward to this evening all year long, and it makes me happy to get to be a part of it! Hopefully, everything will go smoothly! Here are a few pictures from the dance a year ago...

Sweet baby feet!
John Hall has his 4 month check-up this afternoon. We won't be doing any shots today because he has a runny nose for the first time in his life. I just don't want to put additional stress on his little body that is already trying to fight off a cold....

Sign Language!

Somebody has learned a little sign language!!! I took these pictures and failed to see the position his hand was in...guess that will teach me! Even with the vulgar gesture, I think they're still pretty cute!
How you doin'?.....

Pictures & Potatoes

John Hall and I met Osie in HS to have his photo taken. While we were there, Kim brought James to hopefully get a cute shot of the boys together. And let me tell you, that was NOT about to happen! Those boys cried and cried! It was actually pretty funny; I think the photographer got a cute picture of them sobbing in a basket. I can't wait to see how all the photos turned out. After that, we went to lunch and the boys wore their matching turtle outfits. They looked awfully handsome!!!

Look at this big boy holding his bottle. He's just too big for his britches!

Don't you just love my sous chef! He's so helpful!

After watching this last season of the next food network star, I was inspired by Melissa to make this side item: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/5-minute-individual-potato-gratins-recipe/index.html

....Ingredients

  • Vegetable spray
  • 2 large russet potatoes, roughly peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Spray 8 muffin tins with vegetable spray. Layer potato slices, cheese, and onions into each muffin cup. Season with salt and pepper and top each gratin with 1 or 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Cover with foil and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, removing the foil halfway through cooking time. Invert gratins onto plate and serve.

(I used a different potato variety, fresh chives, and yellow onion)

Let me tell you, these potatoes are FABULOUS!!! They are so easy and were sooooo good!

I thought we would each eat maybe two servings and then I could save the rest for another meal this week...but boy was I wrong. We almost ate the entire pan! Jason had six and I obviously had five. These were seriously so yummy, I can't believe I made them! Ha! If you're looking for something good to make as a side, here you go!

Where's Waldo?!?!

Here are all of our newly acquired Elmo's. I mentioned that he was really interested in this little red monster and we got our fair share of Elmo's delivered to us! I think he has enjoyed the invasion of this little red guy! He has one Elmo that is really long winded and tells lots of stories and jokes which allows time to do things like run to the laundry room and change out a load of clothes. Elmo sure is entertaining...although I don't think John Hall understands his humor quite yet!

How does cereal taste?
Pretty good.....

We now have a big four month old, so we decided to let him see what he thought about a little cereal. He seemed to enjoy the eating process although most of it ended up down his chin and on his outfit. (We had a bib on him at first, but took it off because he was eating it in between bites) What a big boy!!!
