finally some outside fun

We finally had a little warm weather last Wed and I let the kids play outside. I got their clothes on and told them to "go outside" and pointed to the back door, but since we've been stuck inside b/c it's either raining or cold, they didn't know what I was talking about. They finally got it when I opened the door and stepped outside.

Tobin

what we've been up to...

let's see where to begin...lots of updates:

meals- Skyler started bopping for her food, like bopping for apples...then of course the boys joined her. So that's how they've been eating! I try to keep a straight face as much as possible, but it's quite difficult especially when all three are doing it. We've also started them on using spoons and forks. Tobin especially loves it, he'll whine til he gets one of those in his hands, but he still needs a lot of work. Hudson and Skyler can do it pretty well. We're starting slow w/them using it for breakfast and sometimes lunch. They can get the utensils to their mouths well, more work on scouping it up and using the fork to pierce the food, but they'll get it. Another thing they like to do is feed each other, especially when someone's been crying and haven't eaten much.

Crayons/play doh- I brought out the crayons again last week, this time, they didn't show much interest like last month. In fact all they wanted to do was eat it. Since the crayons didn't work too well, I took out playdoh, nope...not ready for it, Skyler wanted to eat it and the boys could care less. Try again another time.

Clothes- they are still in 12 months clothing, they are wearing a few 18 months clothes, just depends on the brand. They've actually outgrown their Robeez shoes (size 12-18 months) and I went shopping for the next size but I didn't know what they wear so I bought size 5 and 6 shoes...I'll be returning the size 6 ones. BTW, there are so many cute girl shoes, of course! Skyler loves to try on her shoes, we are in big trouble!!!

Verbally- they are talking a lot more words, you have to listen to them but they repeat what we say. Sometimes they just say one part of the word. They definitely know dog and cat, they point to them and say "daw" when they see them on our walks.

Comprehension-They are aware of so much now, their body parts, clothes, instructions. They know what each things are like socks, shoes, jackets, pants...these are what they wear when going to SF or outside since it's been cold. They know "hands up" and "switch hands" for changing their clothes. They also understand a lot more commands. They know when I'm telling them to sit down in their chairs, etc. especially when I'm using my serious mommy voice.

Teething- they are teething like crazy! There's atleast someone a day that is clingy or crying, sometimes more than one. Aya yaa! Hudson and Tobin do both, cling & cry, Skyler just clings. Hudson has 12, Tobin has 10, and Skyler has either 14 or 16. I guess that's why she bites the most!
Play- they love to wrestle! It's almost like they're cuddling together. They love to give each one a ride on the push toys... the best part is I don't have to bend over doing that, I can ask someone to do it. :-) They are able to throw balls, not quite catch yet, but working on it. They also love to do flips now, Skyler was the first and of course monkey see, monkey do, the boys are loving it too! They love blocks...I had to add another container in the play room so there's 3 now b/c they like to crawl into the container filled w/blocks and sit there and play.
Clean little helpers- I sweep the floors atleast twice daily b/c of all the food and dog hair everywhere. If I have time during their nap I would do it so when they wake up from their nap, the floors are clean for them to play on, but sometimes I run out of time and would sweep while they're playing. All of them have been picking up dirt and giving them to me or even putting it in the dustpan. It's quite funny!

Skyler playing "peek a boo" w/me at the couch.

Boys and their rides!

Tobin put these 9 blocks together and he was so afraid of it falling apart. He was carrying it around walking really really slow.

Hudson and daddy

I think we took like 10 of these pictures, this was the only one where you can see everyone's faces: Skyler, Hudson, Tobin

All geared up for their walks. They're wearing their adidas caps from Uncle Matt (Christmas presents). Tobin, Hudson, and Skyler.

Skyler being silly- diaper head!

Dan saw this one day and was able to capture Mommy w/all her kids.

Boys on my designer chairs...hope they don't ruin it too much!

playdate and 18 months checkup

We had a busy week last week, ontop of the SF classes, we also had a playdate w/Kerra and her trio on Tues, 2/23. Her kids are Olivia, Hannah, and Aiden and they are 16 months old. They were the first set of triplets we played with last year when they were 10 months. Her kids were so nice to share their toys and no one really fight except for my guys fighting each other over the phones and bouncing zebra toy she has. I also feed them lunch there. We didn't get home til 1 and of course, it messed up their nap b/c they napped on the ride home, but atleast they were able to have some socialization. Hudson was the only who napped decently, the other two not so well, but atleast they weren't cranky once nap was over with. I forgot to take pictures. :(
Thursday we had their 18 months checkup. Dr. Thaller did the routine checks and didn't see any major issues, except for one...their weights. Everyone is growing, but not as much as he'd like, so he recommend we get a scale and check them monthly to make sure they're not losing weight. He's just being cautious and said that there may be nothing going on inside of them, but just to be safe. It could also be that that's just the way they are since I'm not that big and Dan's pretty lean himself. I told him sometimes they refuse food completely and it's usually b/c someone's teething really bad and he said that was normal and also this is the stage where they are picky eaters. Also we're going back to see him in a few months to check weights and get their Hep A shots.
Here are their stats:
Hudson- 30" length, 17 lbs 14 oz
Tobin- 31" length, 20 lbs 3 oz
Skyler- 31 1/2" length, 19 lbs 7 oz
When they woke up from their nap and had their snacks, I took them to Costco w/Alejandra. This time I didn't use the stroller, instead I put Tobin and Skyler in one cart and Hudson in another one. They really enjoyed being there, I gave each kid a product to hold, it was hard finding something small enough for them to hold since everything is biggy sized. Of course Skyler and Tobin kept fighting over their items. Tobin even dropped the strawberries and we had it all over the cart, luckily it wasn't too bruised. Everyone kept asking me if they were twins b/c they didn't know Alejandra was w/me...until I said triplets and pointed to the next cart. Then of all thing, I saw a pregger w/triplets @ 31 wks, I couldn't believe she was shopping! Walking and all, I gave her the SCT card and hoped she joins the group (atleast for advice and support). I remembered at that stage I was lying around on the couch and hardly got up at all.

Happy Valentine's day

It's so great to have 4 Valentine's in my life, my wonderful husband and our three amazing children. But like Dan alway say every day is Valentine's day for us. That's the honest truth, there is A LOT of love in this home. Dan's parents came by and spent some time with the kids. They don't like to go more than two weeks w/o seeing them.
Not only was it Valentine's day, Lunar New Year happen to fall on the same day. Year of the Tiger. When the kids were napping, I went to have lunch w/my mom and niece, Julie and her boyfriend, Frank. Julie came to visit this weekend only as college life keeps her busy at UT.
I bought the kids home made Valentine's shirts from Astrid, a triplet mommy from SCT.
Tobin- you can alway catch him pushing the stroller or furniture. He's already pushed this tall decorative vase we had (he pushed it over and broke it), I guess it's the first of many broken things in the house.
Tobin rocking in his chair. Gorgeous babe!

Grandma Gail pushing toy cars w/Skyler and Hudson.

Skyler: "you want a piece of me"

We have a gymnast in the house. Skyler can flip over on command.

We tried to put the Valentine's bows on her hair, but she wanted to hold it there instead.

Hudson---he loves to say "la la la" from the Moo, Baa La La La book.

I love this pix, he looks so carefree! That's my babe!

Our family of five- it's been a while since we had a group picture.

all better and playing

Yea, kiddos are all healthy! They had a minor cold and the boys also had coughs that lasted about a week. Strangely Skyler never got that bug.

While we're getting them ready for bed, we use Skyler's crib as the one to put everyone in, don't know why, it just happens to be the one. Lately the boys will wrestle around in them. It's the most wonderful thing to watch, my two boys rolling around and hugging on one another. You can see the love in them. Here Hudson is hugging on Tobin. Skyler usually just watches them.

They like to play "on" the ball pit. They also like to play w/plastic containers, I've been giving them the yogurt and cottage cheese containers to play with. They like to pretend there's food in them and even make the smacking noises.

Hudson's looking at the camera. These adorable clothes came from Marie, they have a dalmation on them.

Their latest trick is flipping the dinosaur toy over and all three sit on it while I sing "row row row your boat" and rock them back and forth. Tobin has his head turned from the camera.

Now you can see Tobin.

what I don't like at this stage...

  • cleaning up the floors after their meals...they are constantly throwing food, I know just get used to it! We've been telling them if they don't want to eat it, leave it on the table and someone else will. Works half the time! Good thing is the cleanup crew (Redford and Molly) are ALWAYS underneath the table at feeding times. Redford has gotten so meaty!
  • picking up their toys outside the play area. They LOVE to throw toys over the gate, I think it's the noise they like to hear when it hits the floors. Tobin and Skyler will not do it if you tell them not to, but you have to be consistent and keep telling them. Hudson, will not listen, he'll do it and turn around and gives you a cute little smile.
  • still diaper changes, they are getting better but they still like to move A LOT especially when it's poopy!

teeth update

Skyler's two bottom teeth has come in, this makes her w/a total of 14. Hudson's two bottom ones finally came in and he's at 10. Tobin's working on his other two, he's still at 8.

runny noses over here- ARG!!!

It just seems we can't catch a break here...since cold/flu season started, this will have made it the third time they have colds. I can't wait for this to be over with! Tobin started on Sunday and sure enough Hudson and Skyler joined him yesterday. So far just runny noses, no fevers or anything...lets's keep it that way! They still act the same, playing like nothing's bothering them. Only thing is they keep waking up a few times at night, a little cry here and there, but nothing major. I think a lot of that has to be with the weather too, b/c it keeps changing so we're constantly changing the temperature in their room...these babies love the warmth, if it's not just right, they'll let us know. Let's pray this cold just do its normal thing and leave in week!!!
