On October 14, I marked the anniversary of Mike's passing with some of his favorite things, a little pampering and also got wonderful support from Mark:
On October 20, we closed on our house (my first!):
Around Halloween, we had two days of dressing up at work -- one baseball theme and one cowgirl costume for me!
November 8 -- moving day!
Mark's Birthday and Debbie's Baby Shower:
My gift to Debbie for "Baby Hanlen" -- pillows made from Mike's shirts. Though I couldn't be there, I made sure something special made it to the shower....
Grandpa's quilt, made by my Massachusetts quilt ladies from Grandpa's shirts and his golf towel:
Thanksgiving 2015:
On December 4, I met former Mets pitcher, Ron Darling, at a local wine store. He has his own line of wine, which donates part of its proceeds to diabetes research in honor or his diabetic son. Ron Darling was a super nice guy, signed some bottles of wine for me, and chatted with everyone. I told him that in 1986, I was an elated 11-year-old Mets fan, while my future husband was a devastated Red Sox fan up in Massachusetts. I said that once my husband and I met, I eased his wounds. He laughed. He made some comments about where he grew up in Massachusetts, and said something about what Mike must be thinking now, and I told him the rest of the story. His face dropped, and he said how sorry he was. I thanked him, and then as an employee took our photo, he said, "Well, then this is for him." Indeed.
December 12 was my cousin Christina's wedding up in Boston. It was a beautiful ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, followed by a lovely reception at the Boston Harbor Hotel. The next morning, Mark and I had brunch with Mom C., Debbie and Karen, then made a trip to the cemetery before heading back to New York.
Christmas, celebrating life and remembering those who are with us in spirit:
