Addy's Baptism

We were so blessed to have all of Addy's grandparents here for her baptism! Grandma Farol, Grandpa Brent & Grandma Dayna, and Nana Lisa & Papa Dennis surprised us as well and came! It was a wonderful extended weekend. It made us realize how much we miss everyone and cherish their love and support for us.

We are so happy for Addy and for her decision to be baptized. She is an outstanding girl with many talents and great character.

Here are some of the things we did with family:

Erwin Orchard: apple picking, Mr. Bee's 3D Adventure

Cranbrook on a beautiful Sunday afternoon

Our new Canon Rebel camera went missing just before this weekend. We are so sick about it. Most of these pics were taken with Craig's iphone. This pregnancy has made me extremely absentminded, so maybe I'll remember where it is after I regain some of my cognitive function, but until then if anyone could jog my memory, or if you happen to know of the whereabouts of our camera, any info would be appreciated!

Dear Elder Mitchell
Hello from Detroit! We are here with family. We miss you. My Dad, Dayna, Mom, your Dad and mom are here. Your parents surprised us. We had no idea they were coming. We spent saturday at an apple orchard. We picked our own apples, got delicious apple cider, and played in a hay stack maze. It was fun, but when we walked out of the door, we saw your parents and it was a great reunion.
Everyone was in town for Addy's baptism. It was a great day for our family. I can't believe I'm old enough to have an 8-year old. Addy is an amazing little girl. She is doing well. She played her violin "i am a child of god," while Hope was going to sing. She started with "I am..." then mouthed quietly the rest of the song until the last line "to live with him someday." Either way it was cute. Your Dad and my Dad spoke at the baptism. It was so fun. Refreshments were ice cream bar, and we watched a movie that Addy made of herself on iMOVIE.
It's an incredible experience to immerse someone into the water and to say to someone "receive ye the Holy Ghost." There is nothing like it, and to have that person be your child is magnified ten-fold.
Hope is staying cute. She loves princesses. She loves the sleeping beauty, belle, and princess and frog disney characters. She is still destructive. Now her thing is picking on Addy, 5 years her senior. Hope beats on Addy, and Addy comes to cry to me. I tell Addy to toughen up, and not let her get away with it. I'm not sure I'm a very good parent.
I think Hayden is a chip off your dad's block. He loves airplanes. He is an intense little boy, but when an airplane goes overhead his life stops. He could be in the middle of an ice cream sundae, surrounded by sticks, balls, and babies bottles, but if he hears an airplane he will look up to the sky, point, and yell "Airplane!" Maybe he's just excited to have his uncle Nate fly home.

Miles at 31 Weeks in 4-D

Here's our boy! I can hardly believe that he will be born in less than 2 months. This pregnancy has gone by REALLY fast! Which doesn't make sense, because I used to think those two words together (pregnancy/fast) were oxymorons.
However, I do realize that these last two months could be miserable and uncomfortable, and that time might just slow down.

Just a few other updates-things that have ROCKED our wOrLd- that I didn't include in Nate's letter.

The H&H duo (Hayden and Hope) literally rocked our world by putting a bunch of rocks down a pipe at our neighbors house. Craig was talking to this neighbor one day and she noticed Hope messing around with the pipe and wondered if our children were the cause of her backed up, broken heating system. Sure enough, she had it checked out and the rocks caused the whole system to crash. So, including the tonka truck down the toilet, we are up to over $500.00 in damages from clogged pipes.

Dave Ramsey has rocked our world by whipping us into shape with a budget and a plan to become financially FREE (that'll be the day)! I sure am impressed with the man though and have decided that when I further my education, it will be in business. Craig thinks I should get my MBA. It actually seems exciting to me at the moment, but maybe I am just changing too many poopy diapers :)

I'm still going through withdrawls from not running the SG Marathon this year. I missed it dearly. Next year, I'll be back!

Pregnancy insomnia and Hayden insomnia. This combination is NOT GOOD. It is 2:50 AM right now, so I may read this post tomorrow and hit delete...

All in all, life is good. The Fall here is BEAUTIFUL. We are so grateful for our children and the joy and laughter they bring us each day. Addy is getting really good at the violin. I'm so impressed with the speed she can move those fingers on Minuet 1.
Hope makes me laugh, usually quoting Megamind or calling people "sweetie" or "honey." Everything she does, she does with gusto. Hayden is her little mimic. He idolizes her and wants to be just like her (uh-oh). We are in for some very busy, funny, expensive years. It's all worth it!

October 2nd

Dear Uncle Nate
Hello from Detroit Michigan! We hope this finds you well.

Things here are plugging away. We just listened to conference, well it was the background noise that we caught glimpses of in between our screaming household. President Monson looks great. We are more and more convinced that he is a Prophet with Heavenly powers, and that we need to stand up for morality and the church.

Aubree is 30 weeks pregnant. She is feeling the pressure, and it is a good thing Addy is around to help pick up stuff on the ground.
I worked this weekend, nothing too big so far. Except a guy with a bleeding kidney that is supposed to be laying in bed, "absolute bed rest." He actually walked out of the hospital, walked home to get his church clothes, and came back to the hospital. He wanted his clothes so he would be ready for when the priest came to see him. Wackos. The sisters in our ward are getting swept out, we will get two new ones on Tuesday.

It is so cute when Addy and Hope play together. Addy is now giving me fashion tips. For priesthood session, I did my mullet church clothes. Business on top, party on bottom (White shirt, tie, suit coat on top with cargo pants and vans). Addy said I needed to change my pants. I didn't. I loved Preisthood, particularly Elder Eyrings talk. I could do so much more.

Hayden is fascinated with belly buttons. Hes kinduv creepy. LIfe for us is crazy. Sometimes Aub and I look at eachother and wonder if we are gonna make it. Good times. Good luck.

Craig

Craig about summed it up. We are plugging along here. Some days I really wish we lived in St. George, to be close to mom and dad and everyone, plus it's starting to get COLD here. I miss the warm Fall in St. George. Hope had soccer yesterday morning and her lips were blue. She tried her best, but all the kids were freezing, so we left a little early. We need to toughen up. I'm bummed I missed the marathon yesterday, but I guess I have a decent excuse for not running it this year. Hayden is funny--he recognizes now that there is a baby in my tummy and points to it and says, "Baby!" I'm excited for him to have a brother. He is talking a lot now, I think his favorite 2 words (at least this week) are NO, and uh-uh. He says no to everything. We try to trick him and ask him if he wants candy and he'll reply, "uh-uh" and walk away.
Craig and I went on a date to see Bryan Regan on Friday night. Craig left with sore cheeks, and I had a sore belly from all the laughing. He was SO funny! It was a lot of fun. We went to a cuban restaurant before that was really good. Craig had a sweet burger piled with fries, a sunny-side-up egg, and all sorts of other toppings. It was awesome.
We love hearing about all your experiences. So glad you're loving your mission. Addy got a book for her birthday from mom that asks her questions-like a journal. Anyway, there was a page that asked her questions about her room. She said that her favorite thing in her room was the picture of you on her night-stand. We all miss you and think of and pray for you every day. It's weird to think that next time we see the whole fam, you will be there too! And baby Miles will be 4 months old... crazy.

Love you Natey!

Aubree
