Carter Family Treats

We started the tradition a couple of years ago of making chocolate covered pretzels. We use rolos and white chocolate mint kisses. We melt them and then press an m&m on top for a finishing touch. They are OH SO GOOD and OH SO EASY! The kids love to help and it is something that everyone can do. We give these out to our friends and neighbors every year.

Adam started the tradition of building candy castles.  This is his creation!

The kids were extra silly this particular night and I am sure that the extra sugar helped!

Christmas Traditions

This year we actually pulled the kids out of school to go and get our Christmas tree! Judge me if you will but there was just no time to do it! Our weekends were filled with nutcracker rehearsals and the Christmas Tree Farm closed merely an hour after the kids got out of school on weekdays. We thoroughly enjoyed the Holidays this year. We always decorate our tree over time. It takes us a long time to put up all of our beautiful ornaments that have been given to us by my Mother-in-law over the years. We wear silly hats while we decorate and we always have Christmas music playing to fill the house with the Christmas spirit. Here are some of the photos I took while we decorated our tree.

The Red Caboos

We have such a great time every year at the Red Caboos Christmas Tree Farm in Magnolia.  We get to take a hay ride and pick out our tree!  They have hot chocolate, a petting zoo, mini trains, and lots of land to run around.  It has become a family favorite.  We try to pick a cold day in Houston where we can wear jackets so that we are not sweating it out in 80 degree weather while we pick out our tree.  This year it was only 50 degrees and we were freezing!!!

My little beauties

"Brrrrrr!"

This is my favorite series of pictures of James and Claire.  They have such a special bond.  She is my only baby that has really and truly preferred her Daddy over me.  It's so cute.

My Special Boy!

Watching the kids running through the trees!  My favorite!

I like to take a picture of the kids on the top of the car with the tree. Right when we finally got everyone securely placed on top of the can, a huge gust of freezing cold wind blew in and threatened to knock them right back on the ground. This picture was taken at the literal moment that it happened. It was so funny!
