The Wizard of Oz in Anderson

Lion, Tinman, Lindz, Scarcrow, Ryan & Dorothy

My Munchkins!

Lindsey as a monkey!

Emerald city girl and munchkin

Well as promised our high school production of The Wizard of Oz is here. Our opening night was Tuesday and today is the final performance. The kids have done 10 shows in these 6 days and are exhausted! That being said though they have had a blast and put on an amazing production! We had flying monkeys and Glenda flying in her bubble and the witch and Dorothy both flew, it was great! Ryan is playing a munchkin city father and Lindsey is playing 4 different roles. She is a munchkin, a emerald city girl, a monkey, and a poppy. She changes costumes 5 times and makeup twice. I have to say that I am really proud of my kids for their dedication and endurance! It's been tough! 2 days this week they had 3 shows a day, and they were troopers! Taylor has been such a good sport about the crazy hours and the amount of alone time that she has had to put up with! We love her for that! I was a manager for one of the committees which has meant that I have had to be at every show. Mitch was supervising the fly crew, so he has been at all but 2 performances. This has left Taylor a lot of time to play all the piano she wants and watch all the TV she wantes!
We are so thrilled to live in an area where the kids have these kind of opportunities! It is so fun to see their talents and their confidence grow and to watch them come alive in their characters! I have really enjoyed this experience!

Our Crazy Life....

Ok well I've been told to start posting, so here I go. Not much has been happening, and then again too much has been happening! I know I sound like a nut, and some times I wander if I'm not one! LOL! Anyway... We have been so busy lately with just life. As some of you know Ryan and Lindsey are involved in The Wizard of Oz production at the high school. They have been at rehearsals so much lately that it is crazy. Lindsey leaves the house at 6:20am for seminary and usually doesn't get home until about 8:30pm after rehearsal. She does her homework in there somewhere, and has managed to keep her grades up and not get burnt out yet. She has also managed to have her 15th birthday in there and celebrated with a movie night in my living room with about 15 other teenagers. It was fun and she loved it. However, I was not allowed to take pictures. She didn't even want a cake! It was an easy year this year.

Ryan along with doing the musical is working on earning his Webelos badge in Cub Scouts. He really likes his teacher at school( THANKFULLY) and ya know is doing great at being 10! Taylor is amazing us at how quickly and easily she is picking up playing the piano. She started lessons in September, and is passing off about 6 - 7 songs a week, including HYMNS from the HYMNS made easy book. Her piano teacher is so excited for her and is loving having Tay for a student! Tay is also loving it and has really found a true gift. We are so proud of her.

Anyway, I took the test to be an AID at the schools and passed; so I will be applying to work about three hours a day somewhere in the district. I want to do something, but be home when the kids are home and this will allow me to do that. Mitch is still working really hard, and still has the GPS caseload. He's hoping that will end at the beginning of next year. It's a specialty case load, but he doesn't like dealing with the "clients", and would rather have a regular caseload. We'll see...

I guess that's it for now. We are hoping to have a family picture taken this month so maybe I can get that up in the near future! Till then...........................

It's been a while....

I know it's been a while since my last post. We have been really busy doing much of the same. The kids started back to school in August, and they are doing great. Lindsey is a sophmore in high school and she has a big academic load this year. She is taking advanced classes in most of her subjects, so she stays busy with homework. She is also in the fall musical at school. They are doing The Wizard of Oz! Actually, Taylor and Ryan are also in the musical. Taylor is really enjoying 7th grade. The first week was tough for her. Her back got really tired and she was sore, but she is doing well now. We go back for a check up on her back later this month. Ryan is in 5th grade and doing great. His teacher is tough and challenges him, which is what he needs. He really likes her and so that goes along way. Mitch and I are just as busy at church and with the kids as ever. So... I guess that's it. Not much to report, but maybe next time I'll have some pics of the kids in their Wizard of Oz production. Be back later......

Girl's Camp '08

Hi there. Well this last week has been so much fun for the girls and I. We spent the week at Girl's Camp. Our camp is near Klamath Falls, Oregon. It was absolutly beautiful! It was so nice to get out of the smoke and breath clean, fresh air! On Monday night we had a big thunder storm. It was really fun for those of us who like thunder and lightning. It poured and rumbled and cracked for about 1 1/2 hours in the middle of the night. The rest of the week was beautiful. We had great activities and wonderful lessons. This was one of my favorite years that I have ever spent at camp! It was so neat to be there with both of my girls! Taylor even talked Lindsey and I into getting into a canoe and going out on the lake! I have to admit it was really nice. Taylor was in my cabin and that was fun to get to spend so much time with her. Lindsey was in a 3rd year cabin, but had a blast and we were able to have some fun together as well. It was neat to see their testimonies grow and to watch the girls have fun together as well as make new friends. It was just a great week! I have to admit though, it was really nice to get home and hug Ryan and Mitch and feel my sheets under my head!

Ryan Turns 10!!!

Wow! I can't believe it, but my baby just turned 10! He had a great day and for the first time in a couple of years BOTH of his sisters were home for his birthday! Anyway, Ryan had a sleep over with 2 of his friends. Mitch and I took the boys to see WALL-E and then they swam and played the Wii and Guitar Hero 3! They were in heaven. Things got more and more silly as the night when on. Mom was very happy when they FINALLY went to sleep at 12:45am! They all had a fun time though and Ryan is really enjoying being 10.

Anyway I guess that's it. It's been a busey week since his birthday and we have enjoyed the time that we are spending together. We miss you all and hope that you enjoy

the pictures!

It's been Exciting.....

Hi everyone. Well things have finally calmed down a bit around here. Many of you know that Taylor had to have scoliosis surgery on June 11th. It went really well and she is recovering beautifully! She's not in as much pain and discomfort as I thought she would be. I'm very happy about that, but... well whatever. Anyway, she gained about 1 1/4 inches in height, from straightening out her spine and she is now walking about 1/2 a mile at a time for her physical therapy. Not bad for 12 days after surgery right? For those of you who want to see pics of the actual procedure then email me and I will send them to you. Yes, Mitch asked one of the doctors to take some pictures and they said "Sure, no problem" so we have pics now. It looks like she will still be able to go to Girl's Camp, but we won't have a definite answer to that until later on in July. This is supposed to be her first year, so she is so excited about it. Well I guess that's about it for now. I'll write again soon.

Next Blog: Ryan's 10th Birthday! Can you believe it???

Old West

Every spring the performing arts department at the high school puts on an Old West dinner theatre show. They serve up a tri-tip dinner and a really great show. Lindsey was one of the servers at the show and this is her in her costume. Everyone is in character even the servers. Ask her and she'll tell you a corny cow joke in the best western accent ever! It was really fun! She really enjoyed choir this last year and is looking forward to participating in it next year as well. She's even going to try out for the fall musical! WOW! Well I reckon that's all fer now!
