On the door
I was looking on ETSY for a handmade wreath over the weekend and was still taken back by the prices plus shipping and really just wanted something cute, but inexpensive. I found this, but didn't want to spend $70 on it, so Danny and I went to Michael's in search of something similar.
I thought I should look for a container first and I figured that might be the most expensive part of the project, but I actually found one in their clearance stuff for $6.99. I then started looking for flowers. Danny and I were in the year round section and were drawn to the dried and realistic looking flowers, butwe quickly realized this was only going to get way expensive. I asked a girl there for help and told her I was looking for lavender and Hyacinth, but we could only find 2 stems of the lavender and no Hyacinth. I took the lavender and she suggested using 2 bunches of the daisy, purple, grassy mix (technical term here.) We picked up a little green Styrofoam block to put in the container to stuff the flowers in and we only spent $20. This also included a pack of water guns for the kids.
So, it's no fancy, but we like it!

1st bike!
Danny's mom (Grana), called the other day and said she wanted to get Owen and our nephew Colin each a bike for doing so well with potty training. Owen has been asking for a bike since his last birthday and with weather only getting nicer, the timing couldn't have been more perfect!
We took Owen to Toy's R Us today and let him pick out his first bike. We had already browsed online and he was pretty set on getting a Spiderman bike and helmet. I wasn't sure if he even knew who Spiderman was, so asked him and he said yes. When I asked him what color Spiderman was, he said yellow. I said, 'No, he's blue and red." Owen then said, "Well, he has action fingers." I guess he's seen an action figure commercial on TV at some point.
Anyways, he picked out and test road the Spiderman bike at the store and then we tried on helmets until we found one for 5 yr olds that would fit his huge head. It came with a bell to put on his bike and he will thrilled with the whole outfit!
I bought the one in the box to save a few dollars, plus, Owen enjoyed helping Danny put it together. Once it was assembled, He took it for a spin.

Oh to be a kid....
or at least a stay at home mom, so some days you can pretend you are.
The theme today at Story Time couldn't have been more fitting....flying kites. The wind outside was strong and the perfect day to fly a kite!!!! We left the library and stopped at Target to buy a kite, headed home for a quick lunch and then back to Fletcher to play.
We flew our new Yo Gabba Gabba kite....

Picked flowers...
Owen wanted to take my picture....
Admired a young woman exercising through the soccer net...

Splashed in puddles...
Went for a walk and down by the creek...
Stopped to start a rock collection...
and then had to stop by Daddy's work to show him and all his friends. (and somewhere in there we also played on the playground).

Carl Sanburg House
Today (after story time at the Library) we visited the grounds at the Carl Sandburg House in Flat Rock. We met up with a few of the moms and kids from our new meet-up group and I can't say enough about how much fun we had!
We were hoping to see the baby goats while we were there, but the mama's were all still preggo and the first babies to be born won't be there until early May. We will have to go back and visit again that's for sure!

and did I mention it was FREE aaaaaaand one of the moms brought cupcakes?!?!?!

Spring LOVE!
I couldn't have dreamed up a more perfect day!
While Danny was busy building steps for our new porch, me and the kids met Julie at the park for some good kid chasing exercise!

When I got home from the park, I brought the kids in and quickly left again to meet Maggie and Bethany for a walk at Biltmore Park. We haven't walked together outside in months and it was such a nice change from working out indoors and a good time to catch-up! After we finished our 45 min walk, I went in the Y and did a few more miles (had to work off all that marked down Easter candy Danny keeps bringing home, Oreos and the huge burrito I inhaled at Neo Cantina last night!)
After some much needed exercise, I went home and got Owen and took him back to a new
Toy Store in Biltmore Park (We had gone to the Grand Opening yesterday, but I didn't have my purse with me, so I promised Owen we would get some money from his piggy and head back there today.)

he was "a kid in a toy store!"
looking for the perfect purchase....
he decided against the flower head piece and magic wand, and settled on a water gun, a wind up dinosaur and a set of frog Velcro ball catcher things (not real sure what to call these, but they are fun!) He had his little buggy filled and money in hand!
Checking to make sure everything was in the bag...
Afterward, we walked down to Coldstone Creamery for some yummy ice cream!
and to top it all off, Danny made delicious fajitas and I got to take a shower without little ones walking in and out of the bathroom...

He Said
While doing a floor puzzle...
Me: (to Owen) "How did you get so smart?"
Owen: "It was a gift."
Me: "A gift?"
Owen:"Yes"
Me: "A gift from who?" (thinking he'd say me, Danny, or "his mouth" (like he usually says when I ask him where something he said comes from.)
Owen: "Miles"
Me: "Miles?"
Owen: 'Yes, he's my buddy!"
Miles is probably the smartest kid we know, so if he picks up anything from him, it's a plus! I'll accept this gift!

Video Share
Here are 2 little videos from Owen. The first, he recites Brown Bear, Brown Bear (Ben's favorite!), and the second is him doing the planets (you'll have to turn the volume up to hear Mercury and Venus), some Spanish and the colors of the rainbow (this must be a song from Dora?).
