Temple Square

Our family tradition, really the only one we have set, is to go see the lights on Temple Square. It was postponed a few times due to the cold and snow, but we finally made it for the last Monday. Conner LOVES to look at all the lights and this year he had fun naming all the colors. He loves to see the nativity and all the light floating on the water in the reflecting pool. Kaily enjoys running around the grounds and going in the visitor centers to see all the displays. Corbin enjoyed it from the warmth of his stroller and all the blankets we piled around him. Clint and I enjoyed watching the joy on our kids faces as they ran from place to place looking at everything. It was incredibly crowded, but lots of fun. We stopped by JB's for dinner and then went home. It was a great way to end the Christmas season and bring in the new year.

Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!

We have much to be thankful for this year. Clint will be moving to wk at the Bountiful Temple in Jan. so the wonder about what will happen when the Ogden Temple closes is no longer a concern. We are happy with where we are although we miss being closer to more family. This year we are especially grateful to remember the birth of our Savior and all that He has done for us this year and every year. We are grateful for family and friends, a nice home and warmth.

Christmas Eve was spent at my parents house. We had yummy food and the kids had fun opening presents from GG and my parents. We exchanged gifts with each other and even did a short nativity while we told the Christmas story. My parents had LOTS of yummy treats to eat and we had fun talking and laughing. Santa even showed up. Conner was scared at first and when he finally realised who it was he exclaimed, "Santa!" as he ran up and hugged him.

Christmas morning Clint and I were woken up by our kids who were so excited to see if Santa bought them the pillow pets they had asked for. They were not disappointed and even Clint had some surprises for me.

After the presents we went back to my parents house for a great breakfast of Ableskivers, a Danish pastry, and biscuits and gravy. We stayed for a while visiting and then went to my Grandpa's house for a great visit and ended up having a very entertaining dinner.

It was a LONG great day.

Gingerbread house

Another first for our family was to build a gingerbread house. I have always wanted to do one and Kaily asks each year if we can. This year I finally just bought one and on Wednesday we put it together. Clint, I think, had more fun than the kids. Conner loved eating the candy and Kaily had fun bossing both Clint and Conner around, telling them where to put the frosting and where to put the candy. She helped decorate too, after we split up the candy so they each had their own. I'm sure I'll hear about eating it until I throw it away.

City of Lights

We have lived here for three Christmas' and each year we pass the lights in downtown and each year I tell the kids we'll go see them. Something always comes up so that we don't ever go, so this year I scheduled it in as part of family night so we would go. The city has different business' make a display of a house of lights so that once all the houses are set up it looks like a lit up neighborhood. It's actually quite beautiful. This year, even though we have a newborn and it was terribly cold, we had fun. Conner saw this train and couldn't help himself, he had to touch it Clint saw this and had to pose.

sledding

Kaily and Conner have never been sledding, I know I'm an awful mom. Clint decided to take them on Thursday, they had SO much fun! I promised them that this year they would be able to go and Clint didn't disappoint. I stayed home with Corbin so Clint took the camera and made sure I had pics of all the fun.

Stepping into old England

When I was little I remember hearing about the Dickens Festival done in SLC. It always sounded so fun and I don't recall ever going. This year I noticed the add in the Sunday paper and quickly made plans to go. We went Sat after the Ward party and it was just as much fun as I thought it would be. They had vendors set up everywhere at the Utah state Fair Grounds. In two separate buildings they had Oliver and Scrooge playing as well as some chimney sweeps and Victorian dancers. In another part of the building they had a booth where the kids could dip candles and see Father Christmas. Conner asked for Thomas and Kaily asked for Pillow Pets. Conner was SO excited to see Santa. It was fun to see the excitement on his face! Corbin slept the whole time in a pack we brought for him, he enjoyed it too. Kaily liked seeing all the fun characters and the dancing. If she could have she would have sat at the stage all day just watching all the fun things, but her little brother wanted no part of that, he was more interested in the pretend swords and guns everywhere. It was a great time!

Ward Christmas Party

This year it was my turn to plan our Primary Christmas activity. We wanted to do Christmas around the word as our theme. However, our little primary activity turned into the ward Christmas Breakfast. It was a lot of fun. We had people talk about different Christmas cultures and traditions. I learned a lot that I didn't know before and the kids had lots of fun. We ended the party with the kids doing the Nativity. With help from a very wise and inspired song leader we were able to put together a short little Nativity program with songs and scripture. It turned out really good and I felt like it expressed the true meaning of Christmas.

Jammies are illegal

On our way home from Kaily's school yesterday she saw a lady on her porch talking on the phone while still in her PJ's. She made a comment on how something is illegal. I ignored her and we went to the store. While there we saw another lady in her jammies shopping. Kaily made a disgusted noise. I asked her what was wrong so she told me about the lady on her porch and pointed out the next lady shopping. She said that it was illegal for people to be out in public in their jammies. I explained to her that it really is not illegal. Her reply was this, "Well it should be!! People should get dressed before they leave their house and if they don't they should get a ticket or something." I should also mention that she doesn't like to go to Walmart for the same reason. I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I used to go out in my jammies.

Sick Boys

My little boys are sick. Conner has something yucky that is like the flu, but we think it might be something different. Corbin has a little cough. It's nothing too serious, but they both have been sleeping a lot lately. They look so cute together, even though my heart breaks for them when they are like this.

Blessings

On Sunday Nov, 28 we had the opportunity to bless Corbin while my brother Jason was in town. It was a snowy cold day and we were so thankful for those who braved the weather to come support us. The day was so much fun and it was nice to have family around that we don't get to see often enough. Clint blessed Corbin and he did a good job. I can't express how thankful I am to have a worthy Priesthood holder in our home. My SIL, Steph, took some great pics of the day. The kids had so much fun with their cousins and my little house seemed to grow so everyone could fit.
