happy holidays

we're slackers and haven't been posting any pictures of our holidays
parties thus far (probably because we haven't taken any), but we did
want to wish everyone a very merry christmas, happy hannukah,
and a happy new year!!!
love you all.

fantasizing...

am i dreaming about him:

or him:

or even him:

no. not even close.

those 'species' have the dreaded snake that put me in this current condition (not that i'm complaining, right?!).

no, i'm dreaming about this:

and this:

and these:

or eating ANYTHING at these places:

actually, i just wish any of these foods sounded HALF WAY DECENT. seriously. i would gain 160 pounds if i could just have a regular (or any) appetite back. i want to eat. i want to eat a lot. and all i do eat is nilla wafers, capri suns, pumpkin cookies, baked potatoes, and the occasional pretzel. i'm sick of bland. i want a taco salad fiesta in my mouth. a feast for my little taste buds.

but, i guess a few months of crappy, bland food is worth the end result.

until next time.

a bit more

so, yes, the little pink plus confirmed that this is the beginning of the end.  kidding.  i wasn't actually as "surprised" as juno.  my body, with a mind of it's own, was fairly uncooperative.  thank the good lord for fertility docs and drugs...that's all i can say.  so, i'm about 9 weeks along and am due in june.  that seems like FOREVER away, but i'm hoping it'll pass fast.  time usually does.

and, in what's possibly even better news, LOST starts back up on january 21.  hallelujah.  i've so terribly missed jack, kate, sawyer, sayid, hurley, john (i hate john), sun, etc.  seriously, i haven't been this involved in a television show since saved by the bell (reruns saturday morning on channel 13).

can't wait.

Ski LCC for Free

I was just online checking snowfall totals for the local resorts and while I was on Alta's website I found this interesting bit of information for those of you looking to get in a few extra days of skiing this winter. If you go up to Alta on Nov. 15 and 16th from 11-4 p.m. and bring with you a coat to donate that is in good shape you receive a free lift ticket for the 08/09 ski season. maximum 2 lift tickets per person, which is a superb deal considering I personally have at least 9 warm coats that will never see the light of day. So head up there with your spouse/friends and snag some free passes while keeping some folks in our community warm this winter. If you don't ski or have no desire to ski you can donate the passes to me and I will find a place for them in my wallet. There is no better way to ski the unparalleled snow/terrain of Little Cottonwood Canyon, so get up there this weekend! And remember, Alta is for skiers (or any kevin bacon look-a-likes with patchwork neon pants.)

SNOW!!

So over the past 72 hours there has been a fair amount of snow fall in Salt Lake, but apparently there has been over 3 feet dumped in Little Cottonwood! That combined with the cold temps that allows for the snow guns to operate means that SNOWBIRD OPENS ON FRIDAY!! Ski season is here folks, and I am beyond excited! The above picture was taken yesterday at snowbird.

It's Go Time!

Those of you who know me (matt) know that I love a lot of things; biking, skiing, wife, etc. One of those things I love is the Utah Jazz. I was so excited for the basketball season to begin and when I pulled up their schedule for the year to see who they were playing and what channel it was going to be on, I got a big time punch to the groin. The last few years they have played about half of their games on kjzz and half on a cable channel, which worked out alright. But this year there are like 6 games total on kjzz, that is horrible news for a jazz fan who doesn't have the cheddar to pay for cable to watch them play. I am going to be relegated to the computer room huddled in the corner listening to hot rod hundley announce the game in his drunken stupor on a radio with horrible reception. That is how my winter will be spent. I don't know how those pioneer folk did it...

ode to missy

missy, missy, missy
it seems you've thrown a little hissy
over a picture on my blog
of your head back & sawing logs
of course, i didn't mean to make you mad
make you cry and scream and be sad
so now let me try to explain
(though my defense you may find lame)
I posted that picture in fun
Just like I would've done to anyone
Had it been Ken, Matt, or even Addie Lou
Their drooling pics would be on here too
But alas it was YOU who fell asleep
Totally zonked, not even making a peep
How could I resist such a photo op?
We were giggling about it non stop!
But now let me please repeat
that I meant absolutely NO deceit
I think Missy Mae is 'da bomb
And of course if the finest of moms
She's so funny and nice and cute
And has a nice ass to boot
She's a great wife, mother, and friend
And i'll love her til the end
(even if she now hates me
and wants to drown me in the sea)
So please know that I'm so, so sorry
And think you're better than the Mata Hari!

I love you Missy.

Perhaps I can make it up to you by posting some
rather unattractive pictures of myself
(thank you photo booth on my mac):

purtty mountains

elise was a total trooper

so matt heard a noise the first morning at the cabin but didn't see anything out the window. later that morning we found huge bear tracks all around the cabin (a grizzley was shot in august after having broken into a few of the cabins up there).

that thayne family cabin...our home away from home!

elise and her pink boots. they were about two sizes two big and watching her waddle around in them was one of the cutest things ever.

missy & addie

on our way to the cabin we stopped at the 'boiling river' in mammoth so the boys could take a dip. you couldn't have paid me enough to go in...it was freaking freezing outside.

after having squash for lunch. yum.

a truly spooktacular event

matt and i decided to keep with tradition this year and have a halloween party at my parents place in charleston. we didn't take nearly enough pictures, but the ones we do have are gold:

christopher k.
making all the girls jealous
starting the squat thrusts...
the gang:
beach bums, mario & luigi, super heros, 'cereal' killers, cowboys

it was so nice to see everyone (minus ryan & megan), catch up, hang out, and play the ever wonderful dice game.

until next year.
