To Kindergarten We Go

I have been ready for Grant to start Kindergarten for a few weeks now. I haven't been able to tell if he is excited or not. He acts like its no big deal.

We went to meet the teacher night last week. Last year he had all Angry Birds gear. This year its Ninja Turtles.

His teacher gave us this sweet note with a bag of confetti.

We opened it up and sprinkled it under his pillow.

Then he was good to go!

All tucked in.

He got a great night's rest and was up and ready for a great day.

No tears here!

Surprise Place

Friday, we kept telling Grant we were going to a surprise place for the day. During lunch at Wendy's he kept guessing all types places. He looks sad because he was getting frustrated I wouldn't tell him the secret place.

But after lunch we made our trek. We hit rush hour traffic so we kept hearing, "Are we there yet?!"
We finally made it to our destination, The Gaylord Texan Resort. Once he got a glimpse he was so exited. "This is the most awesomist place ever!"

Once we loaded our bags in our room, we started looking around. Shrek and Fiona were actually right outside our room, but he couldn't care less. He did admire these Lionel train setups though.

We ate dinner at the hotel, at their Mexican restaurant. They had something called the Guacamole Bar. This man from the Ukraine made fresh guac right in front of us.

Best guac ever! Also largest bowl ever!

Grant enjoyed his usual queso and cheese meal

This part of the hotel is set to resemble the riverwalk.

This is not a statue, although he looks like one. Reagan didn't know what to think of the guy.

Relaxing on our "balcony" on the first floor, people watching.

Friday night they had fireworks and music on the top of the parking garage. Grant was dancing up a storm to the DJ and his lighting system. Reagan just enjoyed the lights.

He had to rest in the stroller he danced so much!

Fireworks over the lake.

Main entrance.

Reagan was ready to go the next morning, even after "clubbing"!

After breakfast we hopped the bus to the waterpark. Reagan enjoyed not being strapped to a car seat, I think.

We were one of the first ones there. It was in the low 70s so it was a little chilly, for August. What a pleasant surprise!

After some time at the waterpark it was time to head home. Now Grant looks this way because he is worn out!

Reagan, as always, is smiling and ready to go again!

Back to the daily grind VERY soon!

Sweat Equity: Part 1

Our home is stuck in the 1960s. Since we purchased it, I've had grand ideas of a remodel. After some sweet talking to my husband, we are finally going to get this thing done!

We have a half wall as you enter our home. It really has no purpose. So we decided it would be an easy DIY project.

Yesterday, I went to put Reagan to bed and came back to this:

Columns down, bricks ready for removal. Well! I wasn't expecting that but since it actually wasn't 100 degrees outside, I went with it.

Grant got in on the action and was actually really good at using a mallet to break up the brick. So we put him in charge of that as Daniel and I loaded up the truck.

It was a quick process and surprisingly Reagan slept right through it!

Grant was also excited to get after it with the crowbar. Men and tools...typical.

All done!

Now to get new flooring and so much more...but on someone else's watch!

It's All Fun & Games

Grant went with his friend James recently out to do some farming. His relatives, and our friends, harvest sunflowers this time of year and asked them to come ride the combine.

Boy, what would my great grandparents think of this air conditioned farm equipment?

James ended up falling asleep while Grant asked a million questions.

On another note...
Reagan is in love with her pacifier. I often find her like this now, chewing on it like a puppy!

My niece is getting so big as well. Look at that smile!
