Home for the Holidays

Our little family decided to go to Utah for Christmas. We spent a week with my family and a week with Dan's family. It was a lot of fun and the time went by too quickly.
Jack experienced snow for the first time! He was amazed at the snow falling from the sky and would laugh when we would come outside and see white stuff all over the ground :) While at my parents house we went up the mountain 4-wheeling. Dan was having fun doing donuts in the snow and was trying to keep it at a low roar since I was there. However right at the end of spinning donuts we hit a dry spot and we rolled the 4-wheeler! Luckily the 4-wheeler didn't land on us, and nothing was broken except for my desire to get on another ATV for awhile. We went with Dan's family to SLC for a day of fun. We first stopped off at the Dutch Store to stock up on our imported dutch food.

We heard about this Belgian waffle place that opened recently and finally got to go. It was delicious! We ended up going twice during our visit.

Jack wasn't old enough to try the waffles, but he sure enjoyed sucking on his spoon!

We stopped by Temple Square. As usual, it was amazing!

Jack had so much fun with his cousins. He and Addie are only 2 months apart. Jack was asleep during the two nativities that we were apart of. Here is Dan being Joseph and our niece Celia being Mary.

Here is Opa helping Jack learn how to crawl. He is getting really close! We had fun making lots of Dutch food that we picked up from the Dutch Store. One night Dan made some Dutch Indonesian food that was very tasty. Here is Jack posing next to some Pannenkoeken (a.k.a. a Dutch pancake we wrapped up with ice cream, chocolate sprinkles, and whipped cream)

We also made Oliebollen, which are round scone like things topped with powdered sugar.

Jack's first Christmas was fun, and as you can see he was spoiled!

We were sad to leave and are already missing family! However real life must go on...

Universal Studios

On Friday we went to Universal Studios with our friends. Here we are on the red carpet :) We went on the studio tour that showed all of these cool lots where they shoot movies. The pic below was an old western setting and they were demonstrating a flood! It was pretty cool.

Here is the set to How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Here we are with our friends Anna, Justin, and their boys. And no, that snow on the greenery above us is not real :) We watched each others kids so that we could go on the rides, it was really nice that way!
Jack got to meet Shrek. I thought he would be scared, but he just smiled.
It was a perfect day to go to Universal Studios. No lines, perfect weather, and great company!
