All Hallows Eve 2012

Smells comforted. They intoxicated. Thrilled. Turned back time through memories.

Lacey loved her bed mostly because of how it smelt. It smelt like comfort, felt like heaven after a long day. Nothing pleased her more than diving into bed and burying her nose into her pillow after a long hot bath. This  night was no different so Lacey tucked herself tightly into bed. "The tighter the better," she thought.

It was as if her bed read her mind, and her blanket curled snugly around her. It didn't stop, even when Lacey felt a bead of sweat roll down her temple. Tighter and tighter it wound, the once cozy embrace now an ugly twist choking its owner. All this time Lacey didn't struggle because the smells! Oh, how they tempted her. Old and comforting, and yet, what was this? A new scent, wafting through the air like tendrils until they reached her nose. It promised excitement, magic, and the power to take her back to old cherished memories. It promised her the world, and all she had to do was lay still, and let the smells overtake her. So what if her bed felt a tad bit uncomfortable? Those scents forbade her to ignore them. Reality was subjective. This right here was her reality. Enjoying her bed and all the smells that left her enthralled.

All this time the blanket never stopped squeezing until it finally crushed her bones. Lacey never made a sound. All that was left on the bed was a hollow shell; a pale, empty Lace that now adorned the sheets in all its twisted, mangled appearance.

Beware your comforts
For they are always watching
Waiting to consume

All Hallows Eve 2011

The words were right at the tip of her tongue, fighting with an almost squealing-squirmish intensity to emerge from her. But she was afraid of what would happen next if the words did get out, so she kept her mouth shut, lips trembling and eyes bulging.

The words did not like that being held prisoner in her mouth, so they crawled back up her throat, causing the girl to choke, gag and suffocate. Death by asphyxiation was not what the words intended for her, no. They continued their painful journey up her throat to her nose, then her brain, where they knew just one tiny touch to that pink, gelatinous tissue could be catastrophic for her body. Together, the words spread all over her head, surrounding her brain, squeezing tighter and tighter. The girl could bear it no longer and screamed out in agony. She clawed at her face in a useless bid to make the torture stop. It was no use, the anguish intensified until she finally felt something warm and liquid trickling out of her ears and eye sockets- and then she was no more.

The words had the final victory, they had conquered the stubborn girl who refused to speak them. They had crushed her brain, and found it ironic that someone so strong willed was ruled by something so weak, pink, and sensitive. Now that she was no more, the words travelled back down and left her through her mouth. It was a pity that no one could see or hear them, for words, without pen or mouth, do not exist. But you, fortunate reader, are now able to see them through the same magic that enabled you to know about the demise of the girl.

"I'm sorry. I was wrong."

All Hallows Tradition

Viktor squeaked.
He couldn't see what it was.
Then the floorboards creaked.
He had a craving for candy floss.

Boo! He crashed into the cardboard. "Who are...

You?" Viktor squeaked again. The thing didn't answer. He should know better than to

fall for women who made yummy rats brew. Squeaking was annoying. Further

into the cardboard he stayed. He didn't dare leave his dark solace. "I'm thirsty" Viktor said.

"Goo. That's all I have. Drink it!" Finally! Some hospitality from the Thing!

Neptune's Yellow Sands

The moment Titania's blessed feet touched the shore
The fairy queen knew she wanted more.
To breathe the air no mortal could
To lie on beds made of splendid wood

The whole experience Titania craved-
Dancing in the wind, eating starlit spheres
Her desires all granted, none depraved.

But this was odd, the queen felt no cheers
Her heart felt too light; it wasn't joy
It seemed more like the devil's ploy.

What was the the point, living in paradise
Experiencing nirvana every sunrise.
When the creatures two by two
Seemed to taunt, "All alone there, aren't you?"
Then the golden sea whispered a promise of comfort and splendor,
No more need to feel hollow or wander.
Its only request was a simple gift,
And alas Titania agreed upon the offer.
The queen fell into its golden embrace-
She'd given her soul to the waters, and there it remained forever.

Halloween 2008 (2)

Scream, its halloween
Already the leaves aren't green
Glee in the air
No malice to spare

Pick your shoes up and run
He ain't liking you hon'
No point staying to analyze
Reckon you'd rather get hypnotized

Step into the forest, see it beckon
Prance and dance around, just like Ellen
Be a tree hugger; but wait, there's more
right at the old trunk there's a huge door

Welcome to a new world full of the unthinkable
Everything could be chaos, or a miracle
Further up are curtains drawn asunder
Lightning flashes, then thunder

Nearby lies a canopy
"Rest in my satin sheets," you hear
Night gown on you crave nothing but eternal slumber
Sleep on forever, year after year

Halloween 2008 (1)

This #200th post is drowning in gloom and despair,
and slowly you'll find you're yanking your hair.
Better posts may come, soon in the future,
but for now ma cherie, gloom's in your picture.

Creep down the hallway, turn around slowly
Slide along the wall, it feels really grimy.
Something cold and slimy touches your neck
And soon hairs stand; all over your back

Mouth shaped like an O, get ready to scream
A hand grabs you from behind; oh typical dream
Its normal to flee, but then you stop short
"Was reality better" comes the great retort?

You float through the walls into a new world
Where everything's wonky, crispy and curled
No reflection in the mirror, no footsteps left behind
Just waltzing and twirling, until you unwind.

Desserts.

So. I was thinking, I could attempt a Burton-esque spin on the short film.
Here's the film starring gorgeous Ewan Macgregor:

Deep deep down right in the sea, lies scary things that could make you pee.
