The other day, Grace came up with her own book club. She explained it to me and said that she has to read 100 books. Then after she reads all 100, she gets to have a picnic with her cousins. Well Folks, today she finished reading 100 books. She has spend hours a day in her room reading. I've been tempting her with all sorts of things to come out of her room, but she wouldn't budge. She has a job to do! What a good girl.

April Fools
April Fools day is one of the biggest holidays here at the Mikkelsen household. David is a tease, and the stories I hear of him growing up, he's always been a tease. Grace has inherited that from him. So can you think of a better holiday for those two who thrive on playing tricks on one another? We played plenty of jokes, but my favorite was a joke Grace played on her dad. She went in his room and stuffed pillows in his sweats and a shirt, then made a face and feet to put at each end, then of course you got to have hair, so she found the closest wig that looks like her dad's hair. She came running out of our room shouting, "Dad, there is someone in your bed that looks exactly like you!" So David ran into our room and found this.

Festivities
Well, it sure has been a while since I've posted anything. What it's July now, and I'm now posting Thanksgiving/Christmas festivities! We had a great holiday season.

Grace and Livia made cute turkey hats. Grace sure was being a turkey as you can see.
We made a gingerbread house and it was the craziest gingerbread house I'd ever seen. I think it's because usually David doesn't help Grace and me with this project, and this year he was defiantly involved. The pictures don't do it justice.
Every year we have a family get together and have scones and hot chocolate and go see Peacock Lane, which is a little street that goes all out for Christmas with decorations and lights. Well, this year we decided to add an ugly sweater contest. We had a runway show and everyone got to show off what they had. It was hilarious! My camera decided to run out of batteries so I only have a couple of the competitors.

David with his baby blue turtleneck he happily found in the women's section at Goodwill with his sweater vest. Accessorised by him or course.
Pug with his red sweater and awesome plaid pants. As you can see, you say ugly sweater contest, we can't help but to dress the whole part, not just the sweater.
We also had an ugly ornament contest. So you could bring one that you found at a store, or you could make your own, or both! My mother in law proudly took first place, and I came in close second. Don't worry dear reader, you cannot find these at any local store. These were custom made. (with love)

Halloween and all it's FUN!
We had a very fun Halloween this year. It all started going to a pumpkin patch with friends.

Hayride at the pumpkin patch.

Then we carved pumpkins.

I made Grace's Halloween costume this year. She wanted to be a pink flower fairy. She looked adorable!

Next we have a disco queen. I saw these boots at a thrift store, and had to get them. I worried a little bit about where these boots might have been, but it didn't stop me from wearing them!
YMCA
I saved the best for last! Ronald McDonald. I think Dave makes the creepiest Ronald McDonald ever. Liz, Jay, and Scarlett came over to spend Halloween with us, and Scarlett usually loves Dave, but she didn't want anything to do with him. She would run the other direction if she saw him coming. Smart girl.
We went to McDonald's to see what kind of response his fan club would have, and they all loved him. He even got a free hamburger.
Our family picture. Gotta love it! The little flower fairy looks a little scared for her life having parents like this. Would you blame her?
