ahhhh! our poor baby turned into a deformed alien dinosaur (we never could decide which suited his look best. oh dear. ). apparently he has a pretty bad mosquito allergy, this is the second time he has swelled up from a bite on the face but for SURE the worst. the morning after the bite, his forhead was a bit swollen, nothing drastic. by the afternoon, he had a MAJORLY portruding forhead

then, the swelling drifted south and started making his eyes swell up...

mind you, this was on the 24th of july, so later that evening i have all sorts of lovely images of him looking like this. call me vain, but i saved some sparklers so i could recreate a few now that the swelling has gone down. it's that bad. you'll see.

and then the next morning, oooooh the next morning!

the DOC said there is nothing to be done other than good old fashioned benadryl, which max thinks is delicious. it isn't serious and it actually didn't really bother him, much to our great shock! so we just had to wait it out.

did i mention that we live in west davis county, which is, ahem, known for it's mosquitoes? because we do.

the good news is that things are currently back to normal.

and we are buying stock in mosquito repellant.

p.s. does anyone know of any good natural mosquito repellant? something about dousing my child in DEET makes me squirmy. i have heard garlic tablets . . . ?

p.p.s. consider this my blogging rebirth. we have had lots of fun things going on and i am renewing my efforts to share them here again.

sweet boy wiped out in the neighbor's drive way and decided to stay there. love his tousled (white!) hair and grubby cheeks. not to mention his bare feet!

little sister came to visit this week and we are so happy about it. and nana is coming tomorrow!

and well, me. i debated even posting these because really, how silly. but you know what? someday i will be sad that i am not in any of our pictures. so here's me, not sleeping in the middle of the night. took them about 20 minutes ago. i threw a tank on just for the occasion, not sure why. some days i miss tank tops.

keeping it real.

sigh. 

i mean really, does it get better than chubby toes, sail boat pajamas and rice crispies (even if they are all over the floor)?

i think not. 

tonight i am thankful. 

thankful that i now see the light at the end of the tunnel with all the work i am catching up on, 

thankful that it means more down time with the little mister, 

thankful for my sweet baby boy and the love he smothers us with, 

thankful for a husband who moved my old side table to the basement and the new chair into the office (thanks husband, really), 

thankful that it's warm, 

thankful we are spending the weekend with family, 

thankful for our very own neighborhood swimming pool, 

thankful for evening bike rides, 

otter pops, 

thankful that he's thankful, 

that last night in my hurry to lay max down for bed 

that he reminded me. 

he lay in his crib, hands folded over his chest, persisting

father. 

i could have cried. we are extra thankful to him, who blessed us with it all. 

thanks for the reminder little guy.
