***IT'S OFFICIAL***
well, i don't know how i did it, but i convinced/tricked/conned/or maybe she just loves me! either way, I asked Elyse to marry me last night and she said YES!!!
We started off the evening at Texas Roadhouse, which is where we had our first date. It was a nice dinner, i was trying to throw her off the track by telling her we should go ring shopping sometime next week :D
after dinner we went out to Tempe Town Lake and rented a paddle boat. We boated around out on the lake for a while as the sun was starting to set. I had also wrapped a wooden picture frame that said 'love' in wooden letters down the side with 3 picture openings. i put 2 pictures of us together and a letter that i had i written to her that at the end said 'baby, will you marry me?' while we were out on the lake i had her open the present, and then as she was reading the letter i pulled out the ring (which i had sneakily hidden in my camera case) and precariously got down on one knee, especially careful not to tip the boat, which probably would have ruined the 'mood.'
i told her i loved her and couldn't imagine life without her and asked her to marry me. SHE SAID YES (obviously, cause i probably wouldn't blog about asking her to marry me and her turning me down, or pushing me into the water or something like that)!!
I love Elyse so much and feel like the luckiest man alive!!!
The wedding is going to be here in Arizona on Jan 24th in the Mesa Temple. I'd love for you all to come, so calendar it in if you can!

Tribute to Lester O Moore
As this is probably a hard day for many i felt inclined to jot down somewhat of a tribute to my Grandfather. Finding the right words are difficult as Lester Owen Moore was such an amazing man who lived and loved life to the fullest.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and so much more to all those who knew him. His wife and family was always number one in his life, and he constantly put others before himself. I hammered my first nail into a 2x4 in his front yard, learned to roller skate as a child with him cheering me on, dove for the first time in his swimming pool, climbed atop the old train at Pioneer Park with him by my side, prepared for battle with his rubber-band guns and scaled the mulberry tree countless times in his backyard. There were hours and hours of chess, stratego, poker and numerous other games played in the kitchen. He made the best grilled cheese sandwiches and always had enough chocolate on hand to share. His smile was infectious and he always knew how to cheer you up when no one else could. He prided himself on his handwriting. He loved to play the piano and captivated audiences as he performed Boogie Woogie Blues and Body or Soul. His gentle touch commanded the upmost respect. Never once did he utter an unkind word or raise his voice in anger. He had an unshakeable testimony in his Savior Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. His bravery was exemplified in his service in the US Air Force. His love of laughter was eminent in his constant sense of humor and frequent use of practical jokes.
These words do no justice to the amazing man he was and he is missed daily by all, but not only does he live on in our hearts and minds, but i believe he is looking down from above to help, guide and cheer us on as he did when he was on this earth. What a beloved day when we shall embrace again. May we live in such a way to make him proud and honor his name.

favorite movie quote...
so i'm just sitting here at the ASU noble sciences library; yes i should be studying, ready one of my textbooks, doing some homework or pretty much anything more productive, possibly even sleeping since i can't seem to stay awake this morning. but no, i'm listening to music and thinking...
thinking of life in general i thought about one of my favorite quotes. i have many mind you, but this one was on my mind today...it's from the most amazing movie called 'Gladiator.' so i was thinking....what is your favorite quote/lyric/phrase or short story and why?
to those who feel inclined post away....

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
-for those of you who know the story, i love this quote because it exemplifies the power and determination he had. he was a roman general who was sentenced to death because he stood up for his beliefs. his wife and kids were murdered and he essentially lost everything. despite all this he refused to give up and made the best of his life. i once read that life is not about being dealt the right hand, but is about how we play the hand we're dealt. just some words for thought.
