Flat TIRE!!!!

After spending 3 hours bike shopping. YES I got a BIKE, a really really really really really AWESOME road bike.... alas, they had to order my size. Did you know that bikes came in sizes? Other than by tire? Ya. I didn't. Crazy. Apparently they come in sizes like cm. Awesome.

I digress.

We were on our way home from the bike shop when I was coming off the exit to go home. I was on my phone with Doug and all of the sudden, heard, chink. chink. chink. chink. Awesome. I was like CRAP honey I BROKE THE CAR, you know like HOney I Shrunk the Kids?, but like HOney I broke the car.

I pulled off to the side of the road into the gravel, hung up with Doug and proceeded to find a way to get myself out of this little predicament. I didn't know what was going on. The car wasn't driving weird, I just heard the chinking of metal scraping. Ya. Not a good sound.... I got out of the car and saw that my tire was SUPER flat. I knew that I didn't run over anything that big... I mean maybe something small, but not big enough to give me a FLAT!!!!

I tried to find somewhere for the girls to go.... Mikenna had Ballet and Savannah had therapy. Alas, no luck. I called my dad, he sent out a patrol, I called my mom.... no luck. Good grief!!!! Who to call?

Chad and Brett. TO. The. Rescue. There was a highway patrolman who did pull over. He did ask if I had AAA or if I had someone coming. I told him I was working on it.... He walked back to his car, got in, and left. SERIOUSLY!!!!!! GRRR.

Well luckily Chad and Brett were available to come and save me. After some investigating it was determined that there was a screw that got up in the inside of the tire and the thing you put the tire on (I know. I am super smart about car terminology) and it tore my rim to shreds. Awesome. At least it will be cheap to fix.... NOT!

Isabella was such a good sport. She was SO tired she could hardly stand it. Oh and she was Super hungry too. I know. I am an awesome mom. I hadn't fed her all day long. It all ended up ok.

10 years!!!!

10 years , 1 day, 11 hours, 30 minutes, and 51.5 seconds ago, I became Brittany Kunz.

I married the man of my dreams. I knew from the moment I saw him in Jack Weyland's (the author of the teen books, absentminded physics professor) class on the first day of my sophomore year at Ricks. I told myself he was the one I was going to marry.

Now to just convince him (by introducing myself....). Throughout the semester our paths crossed in the halls, study groups, the apartment, and we eventually became good enough friends that he enlisted in 3 of the same classes as I. I very sneaky :).

Eventually we made a road trip to AZ from Provo and it was all history from there.

Here we are 10 years 1 day 11 hours and 35 minutes later. Here is to another 70 years as Doug said. He will be the age of a tree by then :). LOVE YOU BABE!!!! Thanks for an awesome date!!

Motto For the Week

My teenage brother in law Colt is the funniest kid I know. He says the darndest funniest things if I do say so myself. He has broken his collar bone, his leg, his arm, some bones in his head, a few cracked ribs. He has been in a car accident (NO MORE TEXTING WHILE DRIVING), he has wrecked heavy machinery, run into houses with cars, motorcycles, and bikes.

Despite all his broken bones and misdemeanors, he is a very special guy. He plays with all the nieces and nephews. He is the favorite youngest son. He is hilarious. He is always happy. He is mostly willing to help with just about anything... except what his mom asks him to do. LOL. He is talented in sports, piano, school, and playing the trumpet.

I tell you all this because he is a VERY special kid. He also says some of the wittiest phrases. The other day my sister in law was complaining and he says:

"Only you can be in control whether you are cranky or not so I suggest that you cowgirl up and stop whining."

I totally agree. I am in control of my emotions (most of the time) I am in control of what I eat, say, how I act, what I choose to do or not to do, etc. So I guess it is about time I "cowgirl up."

Happy Weekend all!

GUTS

Today it was about 113 degrees outside.

Mild compared to the 124 about 10 years ago. It was seriously hot then. Seriously. When it is too hot to swim, I would say that it is TOOOOOOOOO hot.

SO we were all standing outside talking to some good friends who insisted on staying outside :) and we were all dying of heat stroke.

After our friends left, I told Mikenna and Savannah to come inside because they would sweat their guts out if they didn't. LOL.

Mikenna then asked me, "Mom what color are guts?"
"They are blue and yellow and green and red."
"Oooooo, Gross."

LOL

Dam... Hoover Dam that is

My entire life we have traveled to and from St. George about a 100000 times. I am NOT exaggerating. I could do it in my sleep. Really. And so could my mom. And my dad. And my brother.

We usually pass through the Hoover Dam to get to Las Vegas. (there isn't really another way....) One time, when I was about 15, we were traveling through the Dam and I looked at the water and said, "Mom, can you believe how low the Dam water is?" We all started to laugh and each took our turn. "And look at all the Dam people" "The Dam traffic is terrible today" "Isn't the Dam sky beautiful?" "The Dam streets need some work" "All the Dam cars are sure in our way"

And so began the tradition of the Hoover Dam.

If Life Were Easy.....

It wouldn't be hard

My brother Daniel recently left on a mission. I told him I was pregnant when he left, just mere 10 weeks ago (ish). Then I had to tell him I had a miscarriage, a D and C and the whole bit. He thought it over and in his next letter he said, "I have been pondering why bad things happen to good people." He then referred me to a scripture.... I didn't read it. I should. But I still struggle with why bad things happen, so we will just leave it be for now.

He was so sweet and so sincere. I can't believe how grown up he is in just a few short months. He leaves for Portugal on the 17th. It will be a great experience for him. He is quite the guy.

So I pondered why bad things happen to good people. Why does it feel sometimes that I am being crapped (my VERY good friend used this term and I thought it very applicable) on day after day after day after day?

I can't really answer that question.

I was a rotten teenager.... maybe this is my penance (no I don't really believe that). Or maybe I just need a lot of lessons to help me progress and become better (I sure would LOVE a different way). Or maybe I am such a chosen spirit that I "GET" to have all these trials because I am SO DANG AWESOME!!! (Ya. I hate it when people say, "Wow you must be really awesome to handle that trial." Ya. No. Or maybe I just need to taste the bitter again and again so that I can stop being so ungrateful for what the Lord has blessed me with. Or maybe He just wants me to be stronger. Maybe there is a greater purpose for me.

While I would NEVER have truly agreed to some of the trials on my block, I would not give up my sweet Savannah; she continually and constantly teaches me patience (by fire sometimes), self control (all those emotions and compulsions and she holds it together surprisingly well), unconditional love (no matter what I say or do she ALWAYS forgives me and loves me) I could do without the scars on my face, but they have taught me that looks aren't everything.

We all have scars. Some we can see and some we can't. That is how we learn and grow and become better. I really could have done without Daxton dying, but I would do it all over again, just to have him in my life to learn from him while he was here and when he was gone. He has taught me to appreciate my girls, everything they do. Good. Bad. Ugly. Anything. Of course I loved them before, but I might be a better mother because of it all (or worse, depending on the day and the stress level, which thank to school has been lessened tremendously).

Losing my job has forced me to find other ways to keep busy, to expand my knowledge, and to make a final decision of what I want to be when I grow up (well I have at least narrowed it to two). I was also able to spend the entire summer with the girls. 4 weeks of just them and me. It was fun, tiring, stressful, and OVER :). Pray that I will get a job soon. I am going nuts!!!!

The miscarriage taught me that losing a child is much much much much much did I mention it was MUCH worse? And that was that.

I think that the saying "If life were easy, it wouldn't be hard" is an interesting one. It pops into my mind daily, following the thought of my precious little boy on the other side. I think of him often. And it hurts to the bottom of my soul. Especially when I look at Isabella. I see all that he was, all that he could have been, all that he won't be in this life, and then I think of all the joy I will have when I see him again. When all the trials in the world will no longer matter because I will know. I will know why we have had to suffer. I will know why I accepted these unbearable challenges. And it won't matter anymore. I wish it didn't matter now..... but it does.

I guess Summer is officially OVER

School Shopping
I have this same picture with me and my sister. Someday I will find it and post it next to it. For now, this is all I have.

I don't know if I am supposed to be happy or sad. I have been counting the days down for about 2 weeks. The kids have been bored out of their minds the 5 days that we weren't doing anything.

We completed our list. Seems crazy that we are already into the next school year and just 10 short weeks ago we made the list. It was quite a feat and we set high expectations for next summer.

I was SO excited to have the kids at school so that they didn't have to be so bored.... well I forgot one thing..... entertaining Isabella. She has no sisters to tend her and tease her and make her cry and play with her :). Oh Sad. She only has me. So we spent the day doing puzzles, playing with babies, eating, and taking a nap. When Savannah and Mikenna got home Isabella ran to Savannah and gave her a big hug and then to Mikenna and gave her a big hug.....she was so excited to have her buddies back home again :)

The girls had an awesome first day. Mikenna got home and really wanted to go to bed so that she could hurry and get back to school in the am. LOL. Wish GRANTED!!! Savannah was so tired that she went to bed at 6pm. NICE!!!! Just sayin.

Summer travels- Installment #4

This is where I spent a day, but Jess spent 3 weeks here. You jealous? I wasn't too far from the beauty in Victor though.

Here is my cousin, Brookie. We got in a lot of trouble in college. Ok maybe just me :). We stayed with her for a few days. It was totally nuts. We went to Cox Honey, Gossners milk. I thought I was getting good deals when i stocked up on those items, well in reality it was the "experience" I was paying for. Owell. It was worth it. Plus I got to spend many nights up late watching movies and eating pizzookies with an actual SKOOKIE maker. It was awesome. Except for the 10 pounds I gained. Really. I am working super hard to get it off.

Check it out and feel free to join us!
www.superfitandfab.blogspot.com

Isn't she a beauty? Don't you just want to kiss her all over, even with the sand in her hair, ears, and mouth. She LOVED the dirt. And ate it by the handfuls. Gross. But she really enjoyed herself. It took a lot of scrubbing to get all the dirt from all the crooks and crannies.

Here is Mikenna. Isn't she a doll? Don't you just love the scenery behind her? Bear Lake is GORGEOUS.

I don't have Savannah pictured because she is surrounded by children that don't belong to me and while their mom's have blogs, I didn't want to put them on my website just in case....

We had a fun time visiting ya all in Bear Lake. I am not sorry though that we didn't get all the barfies that you had. Sorry if we brought it and left it and didn't even get it!

Summer travels- Installment #3

Every July, we try to escape AWESOME heat that lies here in the great valley of the sun, and we enter the beautifulness of Driggs, Idaho.

Equipped with four wheeler, tractors, horses, cows, mountains, fresh lime freezes, and huckelberry milkshakes, we spent 3 weeks with family. 2 weeks in Idaho and 1 week in northern Utah.

Of course we can't go to Idaho without spending HOURS on the four da wheelers (as Savannah calls it). Grandpa was ever available to take the girls on rides. We had the chance to spend a few days ALONE with Granny and Grandpa, and the girls enjoyed every minute to be spoiled ROTTEN by them.

While we were there, my brother and his wife came up. We horse rode, four wheeler rided, and ate GOOD food. It wasn't without a few scares though. I was holding Isabella and tending to Carter with Mikenna. Logan came up on his horse, which was a little temperamental, and we just about got kicked. I had 3 of my babies right by me. I all but threw Carter to Doug and pulled Isabella out of the way. That left Mikenna..... WOW. I am sure glad NOTHING happened. It could have been SO bad. Luckily, I just speak of a "near miss."

There were many tours of the farm. The older grandkids are the only ones who are going to remember these days. In a few years, Granny and Grandpa will sell all the cows and keep a few 100 acres to raise cattle. So while we still have it, we tour the farm. This tour consists of:

Checking out the sheep. They were just shaved. You can't see them because they are all hiding. Grandpa and Doug had to get the calves out of the gates and scare the sheep out so that the kids could see them. There were many lessons on animal sounds. Isabella learned "MOO" "BAA" "ROAR" "ROOF ROOF" and "MEOW" all while we were there.

My ever creative sister in law who teaches joy school to her kids, has many of books and activities that go with the books. Here they are reading "Going on a bear hunt" and then they all put on funny hats with animals (that were ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING to Isabella) and went out in search of a bear. It was pretty cool. A lot of effort was put into this "Bear Hunt."

Savannah found the bear hiding underneath the trampoline. She isn't usually scared of anything, and this was no different. However, after the bear stood up and roared, it was a different story. This is not just any bear. Brody about a year ago was going over the Jackson Pass and hit a bear. A series events led to this bear being skinned by my brother in law Max and stuffed by I am assuming a taxidermy place. And Tyler is reenacting the bear's life.

Here are all the, well most of them, grandkids with THE BEAR!!!!!!

The girls on the front porch with their sunglasses. Originally it was the older 3 who had them on.... Isabella was having none of that not belonging to the party, so we scoured the house and found a pair for her. LUCKILY. There would have been full fledged, running around in circles, falling flat on stomach, hands and legs flailing, screaming Isabella. (which BTW I think is stinking ADORABLE, Really.)

And we can't forget all the hours Savannah and her cousin spent on the tractor, driving, beeping the horn, and just raising Cain. She had a blast thanks to Grandpa, Shawn, Brody, Greg, and MANY MANY others.

This is the first horse my girls have learned to ride on. Ok they can't really do it solo, but they can..... It is pretty marvelous how it all works. Mikenna can ride it mostly with no help, Savannah need some guidance so that her hugs don't squeeze this ginormous beast.

Where is Isabella in all these pictures with the animals you ask? I am so glad you DID!!!! Isabella is much like her mother. Not too much of an animal lover. Let's be honest. I am NOT!

Feeding the ponies. Super fun! And SUPER BISGUSTING!!!!! I am proud of Natalie (my sister in law) for doing it. As for me? NO THANKS!!!!

And lets not forget the Roosters.

Savannah did a great job feeding the calf. Grandpa was dripping this milk into the kids mouths. It was totally and utterly DISGUSTING. Really. Really. Gross.

Granny loved taking the kids for walks and they were happy to go.

Thanks Granny, Grandpa, Auntys, Uncles, and Cousins for a GREAT GREAT GREAT TIME.

Summer travels- Installment #2

While I was in Show Low with my little bees.....

Let's back up a moment here. We arrived at Annie's on a cold summer evening.... yes it was cold, like 75 DEGREES!!!!

We ate dinner at 7 and the kids were in bed by 10..... ya that is 10PM!!!! They would not cooperate with me. Something about CUTE boys....

So it was about 10:05 that we ended up walking out in the streets of Show Low. Safe. I know.... But as it was it was our only option. We did a few loops, walking through neighborhoods, reminiscing about old houses, touring where friends live, and walking through the kids school parking lot.

It was about here where things took a peculiar turn. A car turned into the parking lot and we thought that was odd, so we picked up the pace (a slow sprint... obviously I wasn't that worried.... heck lets be honest, my butt is too big for me to full on sprint) and the car continued to follow us.

Ok I started to get a little nervous.... until I realized it was a police ociffer. Wondering what kind of trouble we were in as he pulled up, he asked what it was we were doing. We explained that we were just out for a walk slash run when we see a strange car following us. He inquired if it was us spray painting the school. Oh yes ociffer, you see my hoochie shorts, double sports bra, and running shoes?

Nope. Wasn't us. It was then Annie pipes in, Hello officer Call. WHEW!!! She could have mentioned that she knew him.... I was beginning to get nervous.

After confirming we were not conspiring to spray paint or bust the windows to the school (it happens you know. Twice. Once when school gets out and once when it starts. kids think it is funny to vandalize and do 1000s of dollars of damage.... just ask the school where my kids go. GRRRRR!!!) He let us go.

And we completed our walk, went to McDonalds for an ice cream, and settled in to watch the BEST movie you will NEVER have to see because I am right now sparing you from WASTING your time. "Remember me" with Robert Pattinson.... you know him, Edward. That is really all you need to know. The acting was TERRIBLE. The plot was TERRIBLE. The dialogue was TERRIBLE. It was TERRIBLE.

You can thank me later for sparing you two hours of your life when you WILL feel STUPIDER (is that a word?) So take that time and watch NAPOLEON DYNAMITE. At least you will have a reason to be dumber after that one :)

Summer travels- Installment #1

We spent two weeks in Idaho with Doug's family, one week in Utah with friends and cousins, a few days in Las Vegas, a week in Heber, and another few days in Show Low.

It was a blast.

On our travels from Provo to Las Vegas, we encountered a most embarrassing moment. Luckily, it isn't mine to tell, however, I was a witness.

It was late, or early, depending on if you sleep regular hours or not, and I was a might bit tired. I needed my sister to take the wheel while I shut my eyes a moment. I pulled off at a random stop in Parawan or somewhere.

We weren't the only ones at this stop. Before I got out of the car in this most secluded location, I had to make sure that the car in front of us was not a crazy person, how would I know this? Who knows. But I was going to try my best.

Slowly we eased up to the White Yukon XL in front of us. And lo and behold there is a woman out of the car. I wasn't sure so I pulled up a little closer, now remember this is the middle of the night, so as I get closer my lights shine brighter and brighter on the woman in front of us.

As we inched closer (by the foot), I noticed the woman was squatting, pants down, butt hanging out, hands on her knees. PEEING!!!! She took one look at us, a very LONG look at us, finished her business and jumped in the car. It. Was. Awesome.

I am glad that she couldn't see me... or maybe she could.... but I was laughing HYSTERICALLY. H.Y.S.T.E.R.I.C.A.L.L.Y. Seriously. I almost had to get out of the car to squat because I was a bout to pee MY pants.

I am sorry to the unsuspecting woman squatting with her butt hanging out, out in the middle of nowhere. But I got a seriously good story to remember and most importantly to blog about.

LOL out Loud
