Old flames

Yesterday we went to the museum of discovery and science. The kids had a lot of fun doing science experiments with "this guy...." No not the one w the muscles and tatoos! The one you can't see ;) he was a very nice man with a lot of patience.

I met a long time friend there and between the two of us we have 9 children soon to be ten bc she is expecting her 5th. So fun! It good to see  those friends that you can go months even years without seeing and it's like a day hasn't gone by when you seen them. Those are the keepers. I'm just sad that she is all the way here in Florida living a glamorous life ;).
Scarlett felt right at home on this here tractor. She is getting used to goin got big places where she can ride stuff and be entertained for hours. Luckily we have our handy dandy Jannae here with us. She makes my life a bit less stressful with the extra pair of eyes and adult convo occasionally.
As we were leaving the museum my girls were much more interested in chasing the pigeons around the front. I think I will try to find a duck or bird of sorts I can just tie a string to ad Scarlett can chase it all day and get some energy out. Love her. She wears me out most days though!
I think Scarlett is a little bit if a tomboy. We spent the afternoon visiting with friends, playing in the sprinklers, chasing frogs, playing walkie talkies, games, and going on a boat ride... Oh and making cookies if course. Because you can't hang out with the girl who ate everything and not make cookies.
These two little lovies are 2 days apart. They were so cute playin in the frog water... Awesome.
The view from the backyard. Soooo fun and gorgeous. I couldn't get my kids to come inside. They were having too much fun fishing and playing around in the water. The weather here is great! 90 degrees with 90% humidity! LOL. Bake or boil anyone? I think I prefer boil.
These are out of order but they are sure adorable. Savannah did not even want to stop and get lunch because she was having soooo much fun at the orange trees.
Seems like every museum has some farm theme that they use and my kids just eat it up.
Savannah was having a really hard time trying to figure out the "girl who ate everything" and where we were going to see her and was she really goin to eat everything? She was cracking herself up. Coming from savannah she probably thought that that was going to be her best day! The funny part was listening to Mikenna explain why she had that name ;). LOLOLOL.

I will say this much though. She did have her best day. She took to my friends husband and was his best buddy. I am grateful that he was so mind to her. He took her to check his mail and I noticed they had been gone awhile. All I could think of was that she had snookered him like she did my dad one time when I left her with him while I was at her school visiting the principal about her behavior and I came home finding them outside on the bench enjoying the crisp September morning.... Ya not a good day but at least they were all locked out together ;). I digress.

He took her to check the mail and they ended up at te neighbors house with a special delivery of their mail. Awesome. No wonder I couldn't find them when I was running up and down the streets. She also cuddled up to him at dinner and enjoyed every minute of it. Grateful to good friends and good times.

I am also grateful that Doug is back. It's nice to have my other half... It's been too long.

Museum cookies letters

Every day my kids go to the mailbox and every day there is something in the mailbox for them. Note Scarlett and her letter.... It has stickers on it.
She thinks that stickers belong on her face (because we always put stickers on her far at church... It's VERY reverent). So she promptly took the stickers off and put them on Her face.... Which btw you will notice is stitches FREE!!!!
This cute little bug and her pet alligator (not to be confused with the elevator that my girls call the alligator).
Savannah really liked this museum because she got to sit and read. She is getting to be quite the reader. We are getting or groove here I think. Been almost 4 weeks (which I am informed that 4 weeks is not a month... In general yes but just because it's been 4 weeks does not mean it's been a month... Just like you are really pregnant for 10 months, not 9. But that's assuming there are 4 weeks in a months (which is mostly true but does not define a month per se) and you are prego for 40 weeks which would be said to be 10 months not 9)
The girls played "nurse"... It's the better form of "doctor".
Scarlett and Isabella stopped at the post office and ran out of gas so luckily they were right by a gas station and they could fill up!!!!
And a shameless selfie with my super cute brave girl who has been so amazing in all this. She just takes it one day at a time. Every day after therapy she asks for ice cream and I just want to give it to her after all the tears.
This ain't the best pic because she is a goofball but she read that book for 45 minutes.
Found these cute old fashioned dresses on the playhouse, next to the dairy. Pretty fun.

Since the girls won't be going to Idaho to milk the cows (which actually there aren't any cows on the farm now anyway ;( boo!!!) we had to make our own little cow milking party. This is the way cleaner way to do it if you ask me.
And then there are the cookies for the coping.... Amen. Just an observation. Boy that one will go down in the books for sure!!!!
Too much fun at the schoolhouse museum. We are whittling away at our summer list ;).

Lion country safari and more

Kids are getting antsy and asking all the "summer" questions. "Mom what are we doing today?" "Mom, what's for dinner?" "Mom, can we ... (Insert whatever)".... And lets be honest. I'm going bonkers with all the nagging and the "moms" so I made a little chart. It tells us about when therapy is for the week, doctors appointment, and what the activity for the am and the pm are. So if they want to know what we are doing for the day, they can walk their little buns over to the fridge and see for themselves. ;)
My kids love positive reinforcement. They eat it up like candy. If I tell them they can eat tickets for things they love to do then by golly they do it. It's amazing.
So I came up with this LAME design, not that it would b any better if I had loads of resources at my disposal, because it wouldn't. In fact I am really glad that all I have are these limited resources. Takes the pressure off ;).
I had big plans to turn my blog into a boom from the last 5 years... Ya um big plans. Computer is too slow and the project is too overwhelming and I isnt going to get easier so I guess I will just pray that the www and blogger don't die.

I didn't realize (not do I think many realize) just how intense this lengthening is. We (mostly Jannae for now) have to lengthen 4 times a day, so physical therapy once in the office a day (which seriously takes about 2.5 hours round trip very single day M-F), physical therapy at home (supposed to be 3 times a day), not to mention that we have to dress, potty, and feed savannah (on a tray on the couch most meals) every single day. We have to carry her up and down the stairs. It's like bringing home a newborn. Except now instead of diapers we have a huge brace in the way, instead of a stroller we have a wheelchair AND a walker (oh and a stroller too bc I have a baby...) to cart around with us wherever we go.
Oh and did I mention I have a baby?!?! Who requires MUCH of my attention ALSO?!?!?! She's a cute little fart nugget but THAT'S what she IS!!!! Oh and let's not forget to mention the other 2 living children that I have. That's a big baby (savannah) a little baby (Scarlett) and Mikenna and Isabella.  Ok so now you won't judge the ice cream ;). It's a coping thing. I know. Again. Don't judge. This is real life peeps.

We went to this super fun (extremely far and OVERPRICED) lion country safari and drove through it. We saw all sorts of fun animals in their "natural" habitat. Ya. Natural habitat my ASS. (I couldn't help it).
These two goons are so fun to have around. They get into so much trouble together. Buwahahahahaha.
And these little sweet peas.... Here is what I have to say about them: my 3 other attention starved children. Scarlett is ridiculously clingy, Isabella is incredibly whiny, and Mikenna is neglected and pouty. Savannah on the other hand is loving life w her nightly snack of yogurt n crushed pills and backrubs... Today I sat down for 5 minutes to read w Isabella. My goal is to teach her to read this summer. She is doing the same math as savannah so I think she could read at her level as well. I know it's a lofty goal but she doesn't need to b reading chapter books.... Just the bob books. Anyway I hadn't been sitting for 0.5 seconds before Scarlett was in my lap crying... So I had Jannae take her while I read for 4 minutes w her. Her problem w reading is that she won't have the attention span. Maybe during quiet time I will have Mikenna read w her... And I will give her extra tickets ;) she almost has 50 she told me as we were walking to the store. I thin she's saving up for 30 minutes passes bedtime (100 tickets) I'm such a mean mom.
I thought my girls would miss their friends but other than the occasional request to send necklaces made of sea shells or letters they have been entertaining each other. This is a good summer of sisterly bonding and forming friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime. Mikenna spent 45 minutes tonight doing worksheets w savannah. Savannah earned ten tickets and Mikenna earned 5. I should have given her double but she was happy as a clam w 5.
The kids thought this whole trip was awesome... For about 3.5 seconds.
It went something like this "mom I really want to get out of the car" "mom I can't see bc the (said aforementioned) wheelchair is in my way" "mom Isabella just hit me" "mom Scarlett is pressing all the buttons".... Oh yes I almost unloaded the car on the field of ostriches!
I refrained and thought if the children all tucked in their beds whilst I enjoyed a few of these....
And they lived another day to tell about it ;). Stinking stinker is so stinking cute.
I can't tell you how long I have waited for this moment.... Walking and reading. LOVE!!!
Daddy is in Idaho for a week at a family reunion and yesterday when Mikenna and I walked to the store (hands held  and after the kids went to bed) she told me she is sad that she is missing out on all the fun memories they are making. Cutie pie. She still needs me. I keep thinks she is so much older than her 9 almost 10 years... And she still likes me... That's good right?!?!

Adventures in Florida

Went to the play mobil fun park today. Girls thought it was different ;) Legos?!? They were like um mom where's the barbies and ponies?!?! LOLOLOL. Barbie museum is tomorrow and ponies are in Idaho... Gonna miss that this year :(.

We hit the pool this am after therapy and got ourselves a little tan and the littles swam their hearts out. After lunch and naps we went to the play park. It was nice and sunny and beautiful. However when we arrived it was POURING rain. We all looked like drowned rats bc lets be honest what ya need an umbrella for? You r just going to get wet when the rain comes up to your knees anyway!!! It was pretty comical.

I think jannaes exact words to me as she sacrificed the umbrella for Savannah's benefit were, "I hate you." LOLOLOL. Scarlett was WAY wetter ;). It was hysterical.

Overall we had a good time... And didn't even mind the pouring rain.

I have made menus and schedules and chore charts and growth/lengthening charts and activities to do this summer and the kids are holding me to it. Tonight was pizza and it was a real hit ;). Live when that happens!!!

I know!!! HOT MESS UP IN HERE
ENjoying our pizza ;)
Maybe I had a bowl of pirates booty (or half a bag... Don't judge)
I know... I look like a drowned rat. Don't be jealous. I looked good at the start of the day... Ok maybe I looked just like this ;)

First post op visit

We have been making a chart! It's absolutely the highlight of Savannah's day. She gets to put a sticker on each day. It's pretty exciting. Each day seems long but each week is going by faster an along with that we are getting more height!!! We placed day 15 sticker on tonight. 1mm/day for 1.5 centimeters which is just a little over 1/2 inch!!!! Wow! It's magic. Pretty soon we will need a new shoe.

We had our first official post op visit with the PA (Servando). Savannah's leg is REALLY lengthening. It's pretty cool to see on X-ray! He was really pleased with the growth of her bone. And he texted the doctor who was also really pleased.

Tangent: Jannae made these really yummy scones and I think I ate the whole pan. Not. Good. But they were SOOO good ;) next time we r going to use wheat flour and coconut oil.

Oh miss troublemaker.... Good think she's cute with her grape filled chipmunk cheeks.

That moment when you are like.... CRAP MY GUM JUST FELL IN THE TOILET and there is pee on it and how am I going to get it out?!?!

This bone X-ray is truly remarkable. The gap is where we are turning. AWESOME! It's working ;). The white haze around the bone is new bone. I asked him (Servando) the same question twice and he repeatedly gave me the same answer... Patience. He explained to me that there was damage to the medial cortex when they put the rod in (basically they had to shove it in the bone)...

And so the white around the rod/bone is new bone forming. I'm still confused about how large the space is where the bone is growing but apparently the "old" bone will be sucked in to the "new" bone and all will be right in the bone world. Moral of the story: it will be a STRONG BONE.

The kids are all starting to feel not being "home"... Yesterday Isabella said to me, "I want to sleep in my old bunk bed at my old house" and savannah told Jannae "I want to go back to Arizona so I don't ever have to see you again." (She was doing physical therapy and lengthening which brings out the worst in savannah... Poor thing)

Loves to all!!!!
