Life Post Dennis Part 1: Bob Dylan

This is Bob D. on his way to the windowsill for some birdwatching. Bob spent decade with Dennis, starting with the day Bob arrived and Dennis instantly became his "mom" and never let Bob out of his sight. Dennis grabbed Bob, pinned him down and overgroomed him for many years. Bob tried to create a little space between them, but Dennis was relentless. Bob got along with Dennis better than anyone because he knew the Dennis craziness and just accepted it. At the end, when it was time for Dennis to say goodbye to this world and adventure on to the next world, Bob didn't make a fuss, or worry -- he just quietly snuggled with Dennis and reassured him. Bob felt sad for awhile, but he had Ed and Henry to play and nap with, so life went on without his old frenemy, Dennis. But not entirely without, because although Dennis ventured on to something new, he left a big impression. There's more freedom for Bob to spend time with others and he has blossomed into a cat who snuggles with everyone now. He is 100% more communicative and has, funnily enough, appropriated some of Dennis' most charming gestures and behaviors. Dennis is still with us in our hearts.

Dennis says Goodbye (d. September 2011)

" Nobody ever really dies, we just recycle in some wondrous way too amazing to grasp." ~ Dennis Teitelbaum

Dennis wants to say some things before it is too late. Dennis always loved you, and Dennis was always your friend. Dennis always knew you understood a lot of stuff, and that you are wonderful. Dennis thanks you for being so wonderful. Dennis says don't eat plastic, because it isn't good for you. Dennis says pay more attention to the things that are good for you & embrace them.
Dennis says sit in a sunbeam, take a nice nap, play with some yarn, hang out with your friends, maybe wrestle a little with them... enjoy life's simple pleasures.

Dennis passed on to a new world.

Dennis Has One Paw in the Grave

Dennis says Dennis doesn't blog much anymore due to a lack of focus. Dennis probably has two point five paws in the grave, and has been thinking a lot about Rainbow Bridge. Dennis has friends there (Larry Shulman, Bill, Pixie, Mickey, Turkish Man, the beautiful, sweet Aoise, Mortimer C. and others. ) Dennis is not that old, (almost 12) but Dennis has lived a fretful, complaining, grumpy, litigious, plastic-eating, nothing-is -good-enough life and refuses to change. Dennis does not fear the reaper. Dennis isn't sure about anything, including the number of future posts. Dennis is currently spending his retirement fund on rotisserie chickens and anti-itch ointment.

Dennis Wonders Why

Dennis notices the younger cats often act like he doesn't exist. Dennis lets them know he exists by hissing when they walk too close to Dennis or swatting in their general direction. Dennis says they still have fun and ignore Dennis. Dennis wonders how this can be!

Dennis lives in the Foreground

Dennis knows the importance of being conspicuous and prominent whenever Dennis is in the mood for a little nosh. Dennis knows that these pathetic background guys don't really know how to command attention.

Zennis

Dennis has taken up meditation.

Dennis says he ignores everything except opening the hand of thought.

Dennis is chanting to bring himself closer to a snack. Dennis calls this opening the hand that feeds Dennis.
