Hardwood floors - DUST DUST and more DUST!

I can't believe September is almost gone!  This year has been so fast.  Right now, I'm sitting upstairs watching season premiere shows on a TV that doesn't have DVR.  How did we live like this?  haha!  I'm such a snob.  Why am I upstairs you ask?  Well, we are finally getting hardwood floors and my downstairs is a MESS!!!  All my downstairs furniture is in my garage.  It's been a little crazy these last few days but soon it'll be over and all worth it.  Wood floors everywhere downstairs (minus bathrooms and laundry room).  No more carpet and no more travertine in the kitchen or entryway.  YEAH!!!!
Here are photos of the process.  I'll post before and after pics once its all done.

Day 1 - I came home after the gym and everything was moved into the garage.

No more carpet anywhere.  Tile still there but soon it would be gone.

My bedroom with no more carpet.

Want to know where my bed is....in my bathroom.  So convenient in the morning! :)

Got home after running errands (still Day 1) and they had ripped up the tile in the entry and hallway.

Still Day 1 - they nailed down the plywood in my room and closet.

Derek's office - no more carpet.  Plywood nailed down and in the closet too.

Day 2 - the girls having breakfast upstairs at their little table because we don't have any furniture downstairs.  They LOVED it!  I made blueberry muffins and we had a picnic upstairs.

I came home around 1pm today and plywood was being laid in the LR, entry and hall to my bedroom.

I could barely get the backdoor open to come into the kitchen because "debris" was EVERYWHERE!  They got the tile in the kitchen, pantry, breakfast nook and little hall to Derek's office all torn up.  My fridge, cabinets and pantry are all taped up so we moved into Emi's for dinner.

That is dust on the countertops.  I have a green granite.  That is insane.

We got home from soccer practice, the destroyed tile had been cleaned up.  They'll start prepping this tomorrow!!  They had plywood down in the LR, entry and hall to my bedroom too.

The girls examining the work.  They had to see if they could lift the buckets of heavy crushed travertine.  ha!

The wood is laid out to start tomorrow!!!  OMG!!  Notice the gymnastic thinks its her beam.

Girls wanted to show off the plywood.  They think this is the end result.  So cute!  Just wait!!

First week of first grade

Happy second day!  If you know Grace, then you have seen this pout face. I am glad I caught her in all her glory.

Day 3. Definitely settling in to first grade.

Day 4.  We walked to school this morning. Well, I walked and they scooted.

Day 5.  First week is over and we had a great one. Huge difference from last year.  I didn't receive one call from the school about meltdowns or behavior issues.  Amazing week for the Scott girls.
Love our new teachers!!! They ROCK!!

First Day of First Grade

The girls were up and dressed before I went to wake them. They could barely eat breakfast from their excitement. I wish this would last all year. They asked 'can we just walk ourselves in?' I politely said 'hell no!' Jk. I told them I would walk them in today and they could have the rest of the year. What little snots. Give me my day damn it!! Let me cry if I want to.

Derek and I walked them to their classroom and then off they went to their room.  They are so grown.  We were blessed again this year with their teachers.  I think its going to be a great year!

August - alabama. no training wheels. meet the teacher.

August was a big month!!  We had a play date with Keegan, Grace's BFF.  We enjoyed a picnic lunch at the pool.  Keegan wanted to layout so Ava decided to join her.  I guess she isn't brown enough!  We had a fun day.

We went to Alabama to see cousins.  On the plane ride there, Grace sat with Derek and I sat with Ava.  Derek started talk to the lady next to him and said Grace's twin sister was sitting in the row ahead.  The lady said "she is so brave."  Not realizing I am the Mom and she is sitting with me.  So the running joke was Derek calling me "Nanny Aly".  In the summer, my kids don't look like they belong to me but let me tell ya people those two little babies came out of my pale skinned, blonde hair and blue eyed body!!!  Yes, they are mine!

Nik and the kids picked us up at the airport then we headed to lunch.
Yes, this is how we parent.
We went to see Planes on opening day.  It was a really cute movie and the kids loved it.
 Enjoying Nik and Chad's park

On the Summer Bucket List, the girls wanted to learn to ride their bikes without training wheels.  Well on August 15th, they both rode their bikes with no training wheels.  It's official.  It took Grace about 2 tries and she was off.  I had to work with Ava for about an hour before she got it.  She cried a little because she was scared to fall.  I ran next to her holding her seat until she finally just took off.  Great workout for me.

On the 22nd, we went to school for Meet the Teacher!  Can you believe these two will start the first grade on Monday?!  Insane how fast they have grown up and how fast the summer went.  Grace has Addison in her class and Ava has Keegan in her class.  Swappin' BFF's for the year.

 Addison and Ava back together!
Love these two together!  I see lots of trouble in their future!

Here is our Summer Bucket List and we checked off 98% of them.  I'm so proud of the girls and I for accomplishing most of this list.  This summer was new for all of us and we adjusted well.  The last week of summer was long because we were sick of each other.  Good thing School starts Monday!!
