Cohen: Three Months Old

Cohen turned three months old yesterday (29th). Cohen is getting too big too fast! I love the baby stage and it makes me sad how quickly it seems to be flying by! I am trying to enjoy every minute I get to spend with my little man. I know that each stage brings more joy, but I really can't help but be a little bit sad to lose my little, snugly baby. I was way too spoiled with Taylor, she was so tiny for such a long time.

Here are some things about Cohen at three months:
  • He now laughs every once in a while.
  • He is such a happy little boy. He hardly every cries, and is easily calmed when he does.
  • He is still sleeping in his swing, but sleeps through the night almost every single night, so whatever works!
  • He usually goes to bed between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm and sleeps in between 7:00 am and 8:00 am.
  • He loves to be swaddled to go to sleep.
  • He discovered his hands. He now loves, loves, loves to chew and suck on his fingers.
  • He loves to be talked to. He always get so excited and makes lots of noises back.
  • He still loves his baths. He gets fussy before bedtime and as soon as he gets in the water he is all smiles! He just kicks and kicks his legs.
  • He gives lots and lots of smiles!
  • He has a lot better head control and loves to sit up on my lap and watch what's going on around him. If he's laying down, he will hold onto my fingers and try to pull himself up.
  • He loves to eat. He is still eating about every 3 hours. When he knows I am about to feed him he get so excited. He does this cough cry thing and kicks his legs like crazy.
  • He slobbers and blows spit bubbles all the time.
  • He always had his hand in a fist with his thumb between the first two fingers.
  • Is starting to recognize mommy and daddy better. He knows our voices and looks around for me if I am talking.
  • He is still in 0-3 months size clothing and size 1 diapers.

Taylor Playing

After church on Sunday, Taylor was having so much fun playing with Evan. She was being so cute! I just love her little squeals!

Cohen Talking to Kendall

Cohen was talking to Kendall like crazy on Christmas. It was so stinking cute! It reminds me of a video from this post, where Taylor is talking to Kendall.

Taylor Finding Her Kitchen Santa Brought

Christmas Eve & Christmas

We had a lot of fun spending our Christmas in Las Vegas this year with Derek's family. We got up early on the 23rd and made the long drive down there. The kids did pretty good. Taylor just watched her movies and Cohen slept until Beaver. When he woke up, he was ready to eat, so we stopped fed him, got us something to eat, gassed up and got back on the road. He started to get kind of fussy, because he doesn't like to be alone, so I climbed into the back seat between the kids, and he calmed down. He was more than ready to be out of his car seat when we got to Derek's parent's house.

On Christmas Eve we had a big dinner, with ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, and the works. It was super yummy! Taylor was pretty cranky that day, because she was so tired. Because there was so much going on, from all the people, I couldn't get her to relax and go to sleep. She just doesn't deal well with a lot of people and loud noise, so she had a pretty rough day. At 6:30 pm, she had had enough. We had her open her Christmas pajamas, take a bath and go to bed. She fell asleep in less than five minutes. She was exhausted!

Our attempt at taking a picture of the kids by the tree.

Cohen is still sleeping in his swing, and wouldn't you know that the batteries died in the dumb thing at 3:30 am. It woke up him and so he started to cry, which in return woke up Taylor. She had already been asleep for almost eight hours, so she was wide awake. Derek got up with her so I could nurse Cohen. It was a while before she went back to sleep. She woke up again around 7:00 am. She was pretty cranky again, because she didn't get enough sleep.

We had cinnamon rolls, eggs, and bacon for breakfast. Afterward, we read the Christmas story and then opened up our stockings. Taylor got some little Winnie the Pooh figures. She loved them, probably more than any other present she got given. Afterward, we went into the living room and Taylor found that Santa had brought her a play kitchen! She went right over to it and started playing with it. So cute!We couldn't get her to open very many presents, she just was too tired and not in the mood. It was kind of hard on me because I was so excited for Christmas this year because I thought she would love opening up presents, but no such luck. We had to just set them aside and hope that she would be in the mood later.

We got a lot of nice gifts! Derek surprised me with a Flip video camera. I love it, it is so easy to use and so much smaller than our camcorder. We also got a lot of movies and games. It was a wonderful Christmas and it was even better to spend it with our family. Derek and all the boys got remote control helicopters. So, of course after we finished opening presents, they all went outside to fly them. Derek got his stuck in a tree, but they were able to get it out.
While the boys were flying their helicopters, Taylor and Cohen had fun jumping on the tramp with Derek's mom and Kendall.

After we ate lunch I put Taylor down for a nap and she slept for four hours! She was in such a better mood when she woke up. We even got her to open her presents, with the help of Derek. She got some cute clothes, a keyboard, some books, some play food for her kitchen, a blanket, and a play piggy bank. Cohen got some clothes, and some baby toys.

We spent the rest of the day, eating lots and lots of food, playing games, laughing and just being together.

Christmas Cuties!

I finally remembered to take a pictures of my kids in front of the tree today. I tried getting Taylor to hold Cohen, but she would get distracted every time I had my camera and almost dropped him. So, I gave up and just stuck him in his bouncy seat.

Sleep In Heavenly Peace

Baby, It's Cold Outside

It has been snowing like crazy here in Provo since yesterday! I can't believe how much snow we have. All you who have been wishing for a white Christmas, you got it! Although it is pretty, I was personally enjoying the warm, only need to wear a light jacket, weather. My mom came out here Sunday for my niece, Tylee's, birthday and to get a few last minute shopping done. She's pretty much stuck out here for the time being, so hopefully it can clear up for at least a few hours so she can get over the mountain and make it home tomorrow for her birthday and anniversary.

I took these pictures out our back yard this morning, it is still snowing.

Cohen Laughing

Cohen laughed for the first time today! We were at our friend's house and he was just started laughing at their dog, Jake. SO cute! Tonight my mom stopped by our house for a little while and she was changing his diaper and got him to laugh again. I hurried and grabbed my phone so I could video it. I got thinking about it and the first day Taylor laughed and I got it on video, my mom was making her laugh as well. So fun!

My Little Man

I absolutely love how much Cohen is smiling lately! Melts. My. Heart. He's such a little stud.

Happy Birthday Dad & Brent!

Last weekend we went out to Roosevelt to throw a surprise birthday party for my dad and my Uncle Brent. They turn 60 this year on the 24th, but we knew since it was Christmas Eve, that it'd be a lot easier to get everyone together earlier in the month.

While we were waiting for the food, Taylor climbed up on the couch in between my dad and Brent. She would look at one, then the other, get a huge smile on her face and then giggle. It's always so funny to watch the grandkids interact with those two, they always get so confused! She also kept linking her arms with them. Adorable!

We had pizza and then Dad and Brent (mostly Dad) told stories about when they were growing up. Until the grandkids couldn't handle sitting still any longer, so we had cake and ice cream. Taylor was so cute while we were singing "Happy Birthday" to them. She had the biggest grin on her face and kept clapping and saying "yay!" She's such a doll. My cousin's wife, Tabitha, made the cake. She is so talented, I wish I could decorate cakes like that!
Cohen was getting ticked, so we ate our cake and left back to my parent's house. My mom made some cookie dough for the kids to cut out and decorate. I set Taylor up on a stool so that she could join in on the fun. She would pat her dough and then take a huge chunk off and eat it. It was always followed by a loud, "yumm!" We finally had to take the dough away from her so that she wouldn't get a tummy ache.
Later she was sitting on my lap watching "Toy Story 3" on my iPhone when my nephew, Brandon, came and climbed up on my lap so he could watch it too. Taylor kept leaning on him and kissing him on the arm, over and over. Brandon finally had enough, so he put his hand out and said "Kay, no more kissing!" It was so funny! Of course, Taylor leaned right back over and kissed right after he said that. She sure loves him!

After we got all the kids ready for bed, we had them sit in a circle and do their cousin Christmas present exchange. Taylor had Jessen, Cohen had Addi, Caitlin had Taylor, Jessen had Brandon, Tylee had Parker, Addi had Cohen, Brandon had Caitlin, and Parker had Tylee.

Parker gave Tylee some Disney Princess dolls. When she opened it up she got a huge smile on her face and hopped up and yelled, "Yay for Tylee! Yay for Tylee!" So cute! It was a lot of fun!

Sibling Love

I really can't get enough of watching my two little kids interact with each other. Taylor loves Cohen so much! It's so adorable to watch her love on him. Thank goodness he is such a good sport about it. He is one tough cookie. It does help that she is usually pretty gentle, but she doesn't quite understand that she can't sit on him, poke him in the eye, or pull his arms. I love it when I am holding him and she runs over and kisses him on the top of the head and then runs away. I know I've said it before, but I just love being a mommy! It's the best. thing. ever!
