Seven Peaks

We haven't been able to make it to Seven Peaks very much this Summer. We have just been SO busy, or the kids have been sick, or it's been rainy or cold. The kids had a blast today. They really liked floating around the lazy river with their Puddle Jumpers. I am sure we went around six or seven times in a Row.

Headphones

I purchased Taylor some headphones at Target today for her to use in the car on our road trip to Vegas next week. She was really excited about them. She kept singing at the top her hunts, spinning in circles, and kept saying, "Thank you, mommy! Thank you! I love you!" Hopefully she'll keep them on in the car, and we won't have to listen to so many different noises.

Daddy's Hats

The kids have really been into wearing Derek's hats lately. It's the cutest thing ever. They kept putting them on and saying, "Hey! That's MY daddy's hat!"

Getting Along

I LOVE it when the kids get along and play nicely with each other. Today they built a couple of things with the blocks, they excitedly came and got me and proudly told me they had built a frog and a giraffe. So cute!

Playing With Cars

Cohen loves playing with cars. Today I couldn't find him, until I checked in his bedroom and found him quietly playing with his cars. Love this happy, easy going boy of mine!

My Girl

This happy girl is always hanging out on my bed.  One of her favorite things to do is flip through books. And she always wants the one I am currently reading, so I have fun always trying to find where I left off reading.

Willis' New Groomer

After years of taking Willis to the groomers at Petsmart, we were ready for a change. They always keep him all.day.long, charge a fortune, and really never do that great of a job grooming him. A friend in my ward recommend a lady that does it out of her house, so we figured we'd give it a try. I was impressed the minutes I dropped Willis off. First of all, she let him roam around while he was waiting for his turn to be groomed, instead of immediately shoving him in a kennel. She also changed less money, and he looks SO good! He was only gone a couple hours. He usually is so unhappy when we pick him up from Petsmart, but he was wagging his tail and acting happy when I picked him up this time. We are so glad we found a better place. Both of the kids were happy when we brought him home.

Sick Kids

Taylor woke up yesterday morning and was acting a little whiny, but I just figured she didn't get enough sleep. I got her a cup of milk and some cereal and let her snuggle in bed with me and watch the iPad. A few minutes later she threw up. Everywhere. It wasn't long after that, that she started fevering. Sweet baby girl. I took her downstairs while I cleaned up the bedding, and she fell asleep on the couch for a few hours.

I put clean bedding on my bed, and grabbed some breakfast for Cohen, and kept him upstairs with me so Taylor could sleep and so that I could hopefully keep him from getting whatever bug Taylor had. Unfortunately, a little while later, he started throwing up and fevering too. It is seriously the saddest thing ever when my babies are sick. I feel so helpless. I couldn't get either of them to eat or drink much of anything.  Cohen kept wanting milk, but then it kept making him throw up, so I didn't really want him to have any.  Taylor was willing off and on to eat some popsicles, but I never really got much else down her.

They both fell asleep off and on throughout the day, in between the throwing up, but never slept at the same time. Later in the afternoon, they both started to act super miserable, so I decided I better take them in the pediatrician and make sure they didn't have strep, since neither of them were drinking very well, and last time Cohen had strep he didn't have any symptoms other than fever and an upset stomach. We had to got to the on call doctor at the after hours clinic. Derek met me there on his way home from work. Poor Taylor threw up in the waiting room, and kept saying, "I'm sorry, mommy! I'm sorry!" Sweet girl.  The doctor thought they had hand, foot, and mouth disease, because of some sores in between Taylor's fingers, the fevers, and the throwing up. Since the strep tests both came by negative. He said that it was going to take at least a week to go away, and that they were going to have fevers for a few days. Derek took the kids home, and I ran to Target to get the kids some juice, crackers, Tylenol and Advil. When I got back home, they both ate some crackers, Taylor drank a cup of juice and Cohen had a cup of water. They were acting much better.

But, I don't think they had hand, foot, and mouth disease, because when they woke up this morning, their fevers were gone, and neither of them threw up today, and I've never seen any blisters on either of them. The sores the doctor saw on Taylor's hands are from her constantly chewing on them. I was pretty relieved that it was HF&M disease, because it's super contagious, and I was not in the mood to deal with them being that sick for so long.

Father's Day Weekend 2014

Last night, after the kids were in bed, I took Derek to the Blue Iguana for his Father's Day dinner. So good! I love Mexican food, and it is SO hard to find in Utah. This still isn't the best Mexican I've ever had, but it'll do for what Utah has to offer.

Sunday, after church, the kids gave Derek a card and some Reece's Pieces. Derek's siblings came over for dinner. Derek requested grilled hamburgers and German Chocolate cake. We sure love him! He's the best daddy to Taylor and Cohen, and they just adore him.

Please Let Them Stay Little Forever

These two are the cutest thing ever.  This afternoon, they were both standing by the back door listening to the thunder.  Taylor kept saying to Cohen, "A storm is coming, Cohen! Quick, hide!" Then Cohen would say, "A storm is coming? Oh no!" and then run into the family room. Adorable.

Mommy's Little Helper

Taylor is so into helping with everything lately. She loves to do little chores Derek and I give her to do. Today she helped me put the laundry away, pick the toys in Cohen's room and her room, and unload/load the dishwasher. I sure love this little stage she's in right now, and hope it lasts a really long time.

Summer Fun in the Sprinklers

This afternoon the kids were really bored, so I decided to stick them in their swimming suits and send them outside to play in the sprinklers. They had a blast. I love watching these two have fun, and I love Summertime!

Melting This Momma's Heart

Tonight, after I got the kids all ready for bed. I went downstairs to get Taylor a drink of water.  When I came back upstairs, I found Taylor and Cohen sitting on Cohen's bed reading stories to each other. Melted this momma's heart. It's my favorite thing about being a momma, watching my babies getting along with each other.

Watching Baby Evelyn

We watched Evelyn this afternoon for Eric and Eva, so they could go the movies. To say that Taylor was in heaven, would be a huge understatement. That girl loves babies. Even Cohen was cute, and kept walking over and kissing Evelyn on the head. We had a lot of fun with that cute little girl.

Big Boy Bed

Last week mom and dad brought up a toddler bed from their house for us to use for Cohen. It has been in his room since last Saturday, but we haven't put him in it yet. Last night when we were getting him ready for bed, he climbed up on it and kept asking for his pillow and blanket, so we decided to try letting him sleep there and see how it went. Honestly, I thought he'd keep getting out of bed and playing, and within a half an hour we would be putting him back in his crib. Well, he proved me wrong. The boy didn't get out of his bed once! He went to sleep just like he always does, and stayed there all night long! This morning, I went in to check on him at 8:30 am, and he was awake, but still in his bed. Guess he's done with the crib. So glad that transition seems to have gone okay. The next transition of moving him into Taylor's room could definitely be more interesting, as Taylor gets out of bed all the time, and is an early riser. Where, Cohen on the other hand, is NOT a morning person. But, I am determined that we can make it work, so the I can actually have a nursery for the baby.

Officially Summer

We took the kids to Seven Peaks to swim for the first time this Summer.  It's always one of our family's favorite Summertime activities, so now it officially feels like Summer. We went about two hours before they closed, and the park was practically empty, It was really nice. The kids had a blast, and we can't wait to spend more time here over the next few months.

Dentist Visit

I had to take Taylor to the dentist this morning to have a tooth pulled, because I noticed over the weekend she had a permanent tooth coming in behind her baby tooth on the bottom front left side. Dr. Bekker said that it was common for that to happen, since little kids' mouths are so small and the teeth coming in are adult sized, so they push up behind or in front. Since the tooth wasn't coming up right underneath the baby tooth, it wasn't making it loose. He decided that since we already had her numb, we might as well pull out the tooth next to it, because he was pretty sure the same thing would happen on that side too. Taylor did so much better than I thought she would. She did cry a little and I had to help hold her still, but she it was over, she sat up with a smile on her face and said, "I did it! I did it!"
