Everything Emery {2 months}

Happy two months, Emery Claire!

This past month you have gone from an unhappy and fussy little gal to the easiest, sweetest and happiest baby!  The transition happened around the 6 week mark.  Soon after you turned one month we switched to all Alimentum formula and it has helped you tremendously.  As long as you have that formula and the Prevacid medicine you are a happy gal.  You smiled for the first time around 5.5 weeks and you smile every day.  You ALWAYS smile when I say the words "big brother."  Maybe this is foreshadowing of how you and your brother are going to get along perfectly for the rest of your lives?? :)  A mommy can only hope, huh?

Let's see what you are up to these days:
  • Your appointment is next week but one thing I know is that you have not any problems gaining weight this month.  I would guess you weigh about 10 pounds.
  • You eat 5 ounces every 3 hours for a total of 6 bottles a day.
  • You started sleeping in your crib at 7 weeks and you have done perfectly in it.
  • You are a rock star night time sleeper!  You get your bath around 7:15 and eat your last bottle around 7:45.  I tried for several nights to wake you back up around 10:30 to feed you a bottle but you just keep your lips held tight and will not open them for anything.  So, you go to bed about 8:00 and sleep till about 5:30 a.m.  I feed you a bottle then and you go back to sleep till about 8:30 or 9:00.  So, you are sleeping a pretty consistent 10 hour stretch each night, and go back to sleep for another 3 hours and do not make a peep.
  • You love to be swaddled at night but not during the day.

  • I guess you sleep so much at night that you are not a very consistent napper.
  • You have begun to like the swing and most of your naps happen in there.

  • You wear size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothing
  • You love to be talked to
  • You are a HUGE bath lover!  You sit in there every night for 20-30 minutes just cooing and looking around.  You cry as soon as I get you out.
  • You do not like a wet or dirty diaper
  • You love to "talk" to us when we talk to your face.  You have the softest little voice.
  • You are starting to recognize familiar voices.
  • You went to church for the first time on your two month birthday.

  • You took your first road trip to Papa and Gigi's over Memorial day to meet your Aunt Heather, Uncle David and cousins.
  • You are getting better at lifting your head up at tummy time but you still have a ways to go before you start rolling over or anything.
  • Your hair still sticks straight up and is brown.  A lot of it has fallen out on the top and on the sides.  We have had several "grandmothers" stop us and tell us that you are going to have blonde curly hair.  It is highly possible since your brother does.

  • You have the prettiest skin and have never had any baby acne.  People often comment on your pretty skin.

Here is the 2 month comparison of you and Lincoln.

You have become the sweetest and cuddliest baby.  It won't be long before you start rolling over and swatting at toys!  Keep showing us that sweet smile!

We love you, Emery Claire!

First Smiles {And Frowns}

Emery started smiling around 5.5 weeks!  She smiled at me first (proud momma) and has smiled everyday since at several different people.  I have been trying to catch her smile on camera and it took me a little bit more than week to get it.  These are not the best but you get the idea.  Plus, this sequence of facial expressions made me laugh.  Enjoy!

Sweet girl.

Big Bro/Lil Sis

Lincoln is loving have Emery around to talk to and play with.  He gets excited to see her in the mornings and LOVES to give her the pacifier.  He get so proud of himself when he actually gets it in her mouth and she takes it.  He runs around saying "I did it mommy, I did it!"  He loves to kiss her and hug on her.  The other day he was practically laying on her giving her a hug.  She is not sure what to think about him yet.  He even likes to share his food with her :)  I caught him the other day giving her a lick of his sucker.  Good times!

He definitely has his moments of jealousy on occasion like when he wants something (drink, snack, to play) and I am with her.  He sometimes has a harder time sharing Cory's attention than mine.  Cory is Lincoln's number 1 playmate so that has been an adjustment!  As a whole, though, he enjoys her and I am grateful!

We'll see what he thinks of her in the coming months as she starts to play with "his" toys! Ha!

Emery's Birth Announcement

Once again, Lindsey did an amazing job taking Emery's pictures and designing her birth announcement.  It is exactly what I had in mind!

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day weekend we loaded up our 27 month old little guy and 4 week old little gal and headed to my parents for the weekend.  My brother, SIL and their four kiddos were also spending the weekend there and we were excited to spend some time with them.  The last time we saw them was during our beach trip last June!

Lincoln loved spending time with his cousins.  My parents put up a pool in the backyard and that is where the kids spent most of their time.  And I managed to get no pictures of them playing out there.  Lincoln was a bit timid about the pool and preferred just walking around the pool and throwing balls and toys in the pool to the other kids.  He came around by the end of the weekend but would only get in if Cory was in there with him.

One night we took the 6 kids to a bounce house to play.  I think the adults had as much or more fun than the little ones.  Here are a few pics from our time playing there.

We also celebrated Carter's 6th birthday pirate-style on Sunday which was his actual birthday.  He is the oldest of the six cousins.  He kept asking me over the weekend if he could hold Emery and I told him on his birthday I would let him.  He has three younger sisters so he is quite the professional at holding babies, as you can tell from the picture.

These two had a super fun time together.

And on Sunday night, the crew headed to LR to see the fireworks.  I, however, stayed behind with my little gal.  Cory took some pictures of the event so I wouldn't completely miss out!  Cory said Lincoln was pretty shy while he watched the fireworks but the way home he talked about how they went "boom."

We loved spending time with our cousins and look forward to the next time!
