So last year we went to Washington for a visit thanks to the enormous generosity of my parents who flew us all out for 6 wks, minus Duane who had classes and patients. I have completely neglected my blog, but I thought maybe I should put up some long overdue and slightly out of date pics. Obviously my kids have changed a lot, but the weather is now beautiful so I will take new pics and post them soon. This pic of Liv has to be one of my all time favorite pictures. Not only is it a very telling shot of her personality, but it shows how we all feel about the beach. We love it!
The above picture is a pic my mom took of me in her super-ultra-nice-condo with the younger kids while she was down on the docks with the older kids doing this (pic below):
Spencer was tied to a rope for a very good reason! He might still be floating out to sea this very day if not for that rope.
Random pics of Kate because she is SO CUTE!!! You have to agree. She is totally posing in the above pic, and although the below pic is not at the beach or condo, who can resist a cute girl in pig tails with an offering of dandelions?
This is a tower next to the beach that the kids have to climb every time we walk past.
My mom having fun with the camera and kids.
Relaxing in the condo.
This is the walk to the beach from the condo. This side has a strong undertoe, but it's a nice walk.
First time at the beach.
I just thought this was a good pic. So fun! Did I mention we love the beach? This was actually taken directly across from the condo where the jetties make for a small private beach for the kids to play in when the tide is just right.
Also, the star fish are an added bonus to playing in the jetties.
We took a walk across town and Kelly picked up some wake boards, they were harder than the kids had expected. If you look across the water, you can see the condo.
The kids loved the shipwreck. It got caught on the jetty during the night when the fishermen's equipment went out. This is what the jetty looks like when the tide is in. I have another pic of the boat when the tide is out, but I'm having trouble organizing the pics, as you'll notice when you see more kayak pics below. They should have been above, but I gave up trying to place them neatly where I wanted them.
Duane's parents were able to come up for a few days to spend with us. It was nice to have them up with us, I think they enjoyed it as well. Can you see Opa smiling?
Tide's in! They couldn't understand why I wouldn't let them climb up on the wet rocks, THEY had never seen anybody swept away before, therefore it can't possibly happen to them.
Oma and Opa enjoying the view of the harbor. And the baby.
Olivia enjoying Opa. Watching the harbor never gets old, always new boats coming and going.
Shipwreck.
Baby seal. It's illegal to get within a certain range of these babies, so we stayed clear. Kinda. We might have broke the law a little. But only a little. How could we resist seeing this?
Spencer went to look from above. Finding the baby seal was just about as exciting as the shipwreck.
Every year they have Pirate Days in Westport. Here is one of the pirates teaching the boys the monkey dance. They seemed to come by it naturally.
I just thought this was a fun pic of Mia on the slide, also at Pirate Days.
Visiting one of the pirate ships. This was cool.
Picture with Captain Jack Sparrow.
Just some more fun pics.
Cooking... this was supposed to be a pic of Olivia who couldn't wait to make Rice Crispy Treats. But somehow this one ended up here and Olivia is down below. One day I might learn how to better post on my blog. Maybe.
This is how we walk to town or the beach. The ground is not near as exciting as walking on top of the jetty. This is directly across from the condo, right outside the gates.
Also an important part of walking to the beach or town.
Even Ellie had to try. Thank goodness for Grandpa! He's such a pushover.
Contemplating jumping off the sand hill. Notice the hands so willing to help him?
DJ's jump, I love the sequence of events showing all his grace...
Crabbing...
Wishing she was crabbing...
Fun on the docks.
Fort on the beach that provided happy hours of fun for many of the smaller kids.
I just thought this was a good picture.
The other boating pictures. I took these from the condo deck while watching the little ones we didn't want down on the docks.
The boys had a little trouble, in the end Emily was declared the only one able to man the steering of the boat, declared by Grandpa to be a rowing savant.
Grandpa and Grandma manning the docks.
See all the happy faces?
Another picture from the condo deck and another shot of the harbor. Can you see the pirate ship in the background?
Relaxing while I clean up to leave. They wish they could live there forever. Dream on little ones, dream on!
Fishing. Another picture I took from the deck of the condo. Did I mention how much I love the condo? So much for the kids to do!
If you are jealous of all the fun we had at the beach, this condo is sadly for sale. All this fun could be yours! Please feel free to contact us for more information, or share on your own facebook or blog. As sad as we all are to sell it, Mom and Dad are ready to move on to new adventures and would really love to sell it as quickly as possible, especially to someone who will enjoy it as much as we do. Do you know someone looking for a fabulous condo? Let them know! Thanks!
