Another Late Post

It's been a while, but I blame the ease of Facebook...I feel bad as my infrequent checking of blogger made me miss the passing of one of my favorite greyhound blogs to read where I only learned today of the passing of Scout from a favorite blog I follow..R.I.P. Scout, you are missed.

Work has been..interesting..one coworker left the company entirely, another is moving departments and yet another is talking about moving departments..partially because the boss we've had for a year now is listening more to the new girl that has been here for six weeks and not to the people that have been here for 1 -3 years and mostly because they are done trying to stop him from mucking the department up and bending over for anyone to try and please them..I'm just riding the wave to see where it goes but I will have my resume updated just in case..it might be fine, but time will tell..change can be unnerving at times, and whose to say it won't end up fine in the end?

The dogs are well, Nico Foster and Loki are good, although Foster had another seizure last weekend, I was talking to the wife on the front porch, went to open the driveway gate and Foster was on the ground having a seizure- we ran back and held him for the three or four minutes it lasted and soon after he was running around after Nico and Loki as if it had never happened..it's been almost a year since he arrived, and while Foster pushes our buttons on a regular basis
we love the little shithead and he's not going anywhere.

I've enjoyed my motorcycle this year, added a windshield and a tank bag recently - riding it has become very comfortable, I just hit 1000 miles on Saturday and today it was finally warm enough in the morning to ride it to work and back home afterwards for the first time ever..a bit scary due to the expressway speeds, Detroit drivers and the road conditions but I enjoyed it, and the Bluetooth headset was wonderful, I loved listening to my morning FM show while negotiating cars and traffic into Dearborn at 6 am.

I hope everyone is doing well and to those that have lost love ones whether four pawed or not recently, my condolences.

Five Years Ago Today

Hello again, With Facebook being easier to post on, my posting here had dropped off to nothing, but since then I've had fun riding my motorcycle, our trip to Vegas in Late October was enjoyed very much as was meeting everyone that we met there (Beth,Ken,Matt,Shane,Jennifer,George, etc.) and the trip was amazing..we've adopted yet another cat we named Frankie, and my dad's(R.I.P.) best friend lost his wife of 41 years to cancer at the age of 62 yesterday.

But today marks a day that means very much to me, the day five years ago that I stepped foot into a courthouse in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan and said "I Do" to marrying my wife. Since that time we lost Guinness, Obie, both my grandmothers and my dad, I graduated community college and got a job at the big blue oval as an agency employee, my wife has gotten a much better job that she actually enjoys, we bought a house...so much that took years to get to be able to enjoy and appreciate.

Motorcycle Has Been Obtained

Well, I went yesterday to the dealership and test drove both the 2014 Honda CB500X and the 2013 Suzuki SFV650... The Suzuki was better by far, both in fit, finish and how it rode..granted, normally the Suzuki would have been $1700 more than the Honda, but the Suzuki was last years model and was for sale for $2000 less than it was last year even though it was new.

They were able to quickly get the bike approved and prepped within a couple hours, and after eight years of not riding, I drove the Suzuki home down Groesbeck and riding a motorcycle came back quickly, although I am still rusty and need to work on my shifting both in smoothness and when to downshift especially in corners..

And for your viewing pleasure, my new bike.

I'm Still Here

It's been far too long, and I apologize for the lack of posting anything since late April. So much has happened since then (mostly mundane, but still) that I'll try to post what comes to mind here and there in a few posts as the mood strikes..Loki is well, although he has proven to be skittish of wheels and strangers but is slowly getting better..we've also adopted another dog Foster, part Italian Greyhound, part Terrier..full of piss and vinegar, but he's a good boy. We had our basement flood during horrid storms here in eastern michigan a few weeks back...while it flooded the basement, we didn't lose anything which I cannot say for many others around here..a couple weeks ago we lost power for two days during a vicious storm..trees down all over, power lines snapped, etc... I turned 40 at the end of July..funny, I don't feel any different at all..we had steak for dinner and that was that. Two coworkers were pregnant and within a week of each other went on maternity leave..I've been handling triple the normal workload since mid June while training three(one quit after a month) temps, my boss quit abruptly right before HER boss moved positions..this left us with me, Mary, two new temps and a new boss...trial by fire to put it lightly..fortunately though, my old bosses boss had decided I'd proven myself and put a request in to give me a raise..which took three months to get through all the processes and starting Monday I'll be getting $4.45 more an hour..I am now making more than I have ever made before in my life (while not a lot, it's still something I'm happy with) and sometime in the future I will once again own a motorcycle..I had one before I moved down here for a few years and I had always wanted one..giving it up was necessary when I moved and now we're in a position that having one again can be afforded especially with the recent raise I received. I almost forgot! We're going to Las Vegas in late October with a group of people, many from blogger or Facebook, and recently got to meet Beth, Ken and Mark..it was so good to meet them in real life!

Facebook is easier

Sorry I haven't posted in a while..I still miss Guinness horribly, and Feb18th marked three years and I just didn't feel like posting about it again, not to mention Obie is still on my mind, as is next Monday marking a year since my dad died in front of my mom, and this horrid winter just had me not feeling up to updating my blog..I have been reading the blogs I follow but not leaving comments, but more and more it's easier to read updates from most of those I follow on Facebook so I haven't been posting lately.

Work is going good, pets are fine, and Loki is doing great-I took his crate down almost two weeks ago, and no accidents at all, and nothing wrecked-his initial few days here had him peeing a couple times against the bookcase, and pooping on his bed a few times and I was leery about trying it, but checking the webcam at work and then coming home to nothing wrong has put my mind at ease. Also, switching him to grain free has solved his perpetual loose poo issues.

I know some people have gone years after losing a greyhound before getting another, but it couldn't do that..something about this breed makes more than a week unbearable without one for me, and after Guinness died Obie was here two weeks later-two and a half years later and far too soon, we said goodbye to him and he was sat next to Guinness in a container of his own, and two weeks later Loki arrived, fresh from the track that Sunday morning, new to being a pet and in a home.

Being on the front end of getting a greyhound before they learn about windows, cars, neighborhoods, houses, and the box with moving people that can't actually hurt you has been eye opening and not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, and I'm glad he's here..he's a great dog as Obie and Guinness before him were, and Loki continues the tradition..he loves his toys, and I though Obie was amazing in his joy of just playing and running circles in the yard- Loki seems to be a combination of both Guinness and Obie..he had Obie's love of just being a dog, and Guinness' smarts and size..he's quickly become a part of our family and I only wish Obie and Guinness could have known him in life.

Loki's Snow Track

Loki running with Nico trying to keep up, and the neighbor's husky Jax wanting to join in.
