Summer Bookclub

The girls in our homechurch plus a few other sweet friends are reading this book for our "summer bookclub." I highly suggest this book if you are in need of a laugh and want some honest truth on how we as women should be living our life for the Lord.

Tonight we will discuss a chapter titled "I am jealous of my friends". When I first started this chapter I went in w/ the mindset of "I'm not jealous of my friends", "I don't struggle w/ jealousy, really" and then my eyes were really open to the fact that deep down I do. I strive to not be a jealous person but if I am really honest w/ myself I need to pray each day for contentment with the precious life he has given ME. I realized this after reading these few paragraphs...

"Jealousy will make us tired supergirls crazy. Crazy. Because when we are jealous, we decide to give up our life in the pursuit of someone else's. Now that sounds foolish, doesn't it, when you think about it. Here God has gone and created you as a unique and precious individual, a complete original with personality, gifts, and talents that are only yours."
"But when we are jealous, we are saying that is not enough. Nope, we don't like this life that God has given us, this person we are; we would like someone else's life. Someone else's successes. Someone else's advantages. Someone else's path. And that jealousy can chase away any joy or hope that God has given us on our own path or journey. Jealousy is we supergirls saying, 'I would like to choose crazy over contentment'."

How's that for honesty?? I am sure there will be a part 2 to this blog after our conversation tonight!

Duct Taped Diapers

So, Davis is in the process of potty training herself. You laugh but I am really serious. She has brought this on all herself because I am in denial of the fact that she is actually old enough to go through the act. Don't get me wrong I love it that she just turned 2 and has such an interest, it's just hard to believe. She has become very aware of her body parts and when she needs to go potty, so much so that she doesn't like being wet or dirty if she doesn't make it to the potty. After many mornings of finding a barenaked baby and washing sheets twice a day I needed an alternative to keeping her diaper ON. Duct tape!!! She got big girl panties for her birthday that we will be moving to soon I think...we'll keep you posted on this little girl that is growing before our eyes

Happy Birthday Davis!

Saturday was Davis' 2nd birthday. We had a fun day on Saturday spending time together as a family. Sunday we had a little party for her at The Bounce and enjoyed ice cream at Maggie Moo's afterwards. Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate her special day with us.

I can't believe our sweet baby girl is already 2. I find myself realizing that she is no longer a baby and it makes me a little sad. We are enjoying Daivs so much right now as she is at such a fun stage. She is very into her baby dolls these days...we rock, feed, stroll, and sleep the babies ALL day long. She also loves playing dress up in her many costumes and playing kitchen or grocery store. Although Greyson and her have their moments they still have a sweet relationship and it's so fun to watch them play together (when they're not fighting) and pal around with each other. Davis is very strong-willed and is really making us practice all those great parenting skills these days ;). We keep telling ourselves that this strong-will she has will pay off some day when she is older. Even though she can be a toot with the best of them she is still so sweet! She loves to curl up in your lap and read book after book. She is talking a lot and amazes us everyday with her vocabulary. We love you sweet baby girl, happy birthday!

Celebration Week

This past week has been a week of celebrations! Sito came to visit last Friday so we got to spend some time with her over the weekend. Saturday we had a lot of fun celebrating the 4th of July. We started the morning with breakfast at my dads and spent the afternoon and evening with the Stricklands grilling, playing outside, and staying up late to watch the fireworks. Sunday was my birthday and we enjoyed a very nice bruch at Eccell Steakhouse with my dad and Sito. That afternoon we swam with the Moffitts and Stricklands and then Jason and I enjoyed a nice dinner alone that night at Atami. Thanks to everyone who made it such a special day for me. Thursday night was my sweet friend Elizabeth's 30th bday, we enjoyed a very nice dinner at Eccell Steakhouse-happy birthday dear friend, I am blessed to have you as a friend! Here are some fun pics from the week.
