Nov-more

Happy fall!  these pics are out of order (don't have time or patience to organize in chronological order).

This is a recent picture of our boys- they are always together - so much fun and love (some times too much love that leads to some roughhousing- let's just say our neighbors know when we are home :) )

This year for halloween, we were the ninja family with paul being sensei-wu (for those ninjago fans).  we had a nice halloween dinner at our friends' home up the street (Paul and Sharmi with their similar age 2 boys) and then go trick or treating- the boys lose steam after about 5  houses (ill take that as long as i can!)  and are surprised by us encouraging them to go to strangers' homes and ask for treats/candy.  odd tradition -

Dominic was so excited to get this birthday gift (thank you stubenrauchs!) and couldn't wait to put the trucks in the water.  they are not water toys, but Dominic had so much fun.

yup, a typical bath scene.  those goggles are construction/home depot/worker goggles.

took the boys to see a halloween play.  they loved it, particularly during intermission, they ran on stage and thought it was the funnest thing on earth.  during the last scene when the protagonist exited the stage, Dez yelled out to the audience "SHE HAD TO GO TO THE POTTY" that resulted in the most amount of laughs during the entire play (that was supposed to be a comedy halloween show).

pre-theatre facepainting.  i know, dominic looks a bit like bozo the clown with his long curls.
El Chavo hats- the boys love them for some reason, maybe the earflaps?

dez silly face after fun cookie decorations.
went to get the boys hair cut- dez looks like such a big boy with his "spikey/pointy" hair!
Dez imitating an actor from the play . . .

happy birthday to dominic who is 2! i almost cried when they cut his curls (his first hair cut!)
not sure if i previously posted this pic- i held him while they painted his face and he literally fell asleep in my arms.  hmmm, maybe i should face painting when he wakes up next time at 2 a.m.

oh so happy dominic!  pure joy . . .

we went to a farm outside of L.A. to pick pumpkins and apples.  but, this being outside of L.A. the lines were crazy long, so we enjoyed the countryside and the fun colonial activities (bow & arrow, hachet/ax throwing, etc.)
 dez' hair cut . . .

our boys love them some popcorn!

Was so nice to see Tia Stefi- the boys were so excited and asked about her every second-

Late October

I will get around to posting Halloween pics, but these pictures have been sitting on my computer screaming to be shared.  the boys dug Halloween and all the crazy traditions associated with that day.  stickers on pumpkins was a huge hit- carving, not so much.  the boys didn't want to get thheir hands dirty with the squishy pumpkin innards, but I had a blast.  the weather was so warm here, that the pumpkin melted (who knew) so what was a smiling jack-o-lantern became a sliver of a smile.  wish i had taken a picture of that.
this is a typical night at our house.  bed time with no sense of personal space.  very awesome although i usually get away with a new bruise or two.
Paul takes the boys to school in the morning.  now that it is getting nippy, paul snuggles the boys in with soft blankets so they can still go with the top down in the convertible.
 Pappos just loves boots.
Dez' class room- yes, he is wearing last year's costume that is too short but fortunately that is not visible in this pic.

Dez at trader joes- this is Los Angeles so we didn't even get a second look.

Dominic was painted for the Day of the Dead.  he is such a big boy!
Dominic's smile lights up our lives.
Boys getting ready for school with Dez making a funky face- his facial expressions are the best.

. . . and best for last, dom buns- CMON!  he was writing on a piece of paper happy as could be.  who am i to disturb that?

Pictures of Halloween will be posted next week.

Much love.

Frankenstyle vs. Finkenstein

Both boys have come up with their own pronounciation of FRANKENSTEIN.  we love it.  let us know which one you prefer.  FINKENSTEIN is the preffered pronounciation of Dominic while Dez mixes it up with FRANKENSTYLE.  Dez loves to dance Gangham Style (is that what they teach him at preschool?) so i don't blame his pronounciation preference.

Dez lovin the cool headsets at the doctor's office- future dj?

The Manhattan Beach Hometown fair was this weekend and starts off with a 10K run.  Unfortunately, this is the 3rd year in a row that Paul and I haven't run it.  hoping to break the chain next year!  The highlight of the fair was not the drunk pirates performing their inappropriate pirate show for the children, or the sad magician that appears to have had a life full of disappointment, it was the balloon guy who made a shield, a helmet & sword for Dez.

Beach anyone?  Surfer orange sunblock- aka war paint!

Some of my friends hate this place called SCOOTER'S JUNGLE.  i can see why, it is essentially a bunch of bouncies and tunnels for little ones to explore and it can end in a cage match amongst the kids with the parents muttering under their breath as we try to squeeze into places small enough only for toddlers.
I am truly shocked of the aggresive nature of the slide in the below picture.  it is 2 stories high and has this plastic sheet on the top so kids fly off the bottom.  i took dominic down it once and accidentally touched my elbow on the side and it literally took off 2 layers of my skin.  Dez doesn't seem to have that problem and can spend 1+ hours slidding down-

It must have been around 76 degrees and Dez wanted to wear the cool Italia jacket Aunts Missy, Ann & Sarah brought back from Italy.  he paired the jacket with these black halloween glow in the dark gloves, crossed his arms and struck a pose.

Dez and his lovely goofiness!  We are having such a fun time together and this picture was after a day of soccer, swimming with his friend and then a playdate at our house in a "jumpi-haus."  Although exhausted, he still doesn't sleep past 6 a.m.  Seriously!  As long as he is happy, i am not going to complain.  Yes, that is a knife he is holding.  no parental judgement right?
Dominic doesn't enjoy watching Dez play soccer and usually runs onto the field.  Dominic is frankly better than most of the kids in Dez' soccer class.  This shirt is supposed to be for 2 year olds and you can see his belly hanging out.  He has his own sense of style and who are we to squelch that?  although, the more he looks like a frat boy, the more i cringe.
Still haven't cut his hair.  I just can't bring myslef to do it!  Dominic loves to play tennis and walks around the house with

Ann arranged a trip to Slimmons (the Richard Simmons workout studio) to help me laugh my way through my bday.  We had a blast as you can tell from these pictures.  Richard took the wig off during the "work-out" portion of the class but quickly put it back on for pictures!  Too bad we didn't get a picture of his sequenced gown that he wore at the beginning of class, perfect for a 10 a.m. work out!

Summer is Still Here!

The thing that is frustrating and lovely about summers in Los Angeles is that they don't usually start until mid July(i am usually dying for hot weather June 1) and then they don't end until early October.  To make the most out of this beautiful weather, the boys enjoy riding in Paul's audi convertible, playing at the beach and park for weekday dinners, and splashing around in the pool.

This picture was taken 9/23 around 6:30- pure paradise.  Fun to have a playdate on Monday for dinner . . .

Dez loves his brother so much and is showing him the ropes (at least while Paul and I are looking, when we are not, well, let's just say Dominic spends a lot of time under water)
took the boys to Legoland- they had a blast.  for some reason they loved this old lego guy that i have started calling "Creepy Guy from Boca"

C'MON- did they have this when i was little?  the boys were in heaven.

Um . . . eyes on the road Dez!

Yes, wiped out from a fun day at Legoland!

Dez was playing hide and seek under the bed.

Yeah, this is a typical scene at our house- one if not both boys are usually pantless and attacking/playing (depending on your point of view) the other

chalk this up to awesome parenting on my part, i had no idea that dominic was tired and when i went looking for him, i found him zonked out on the kitchen floor.

um, same story here, although dez was big enough to climb onto the couch.

first day of school at Creative Kids!  Dez is 4 and in Pre-K and dominic is well, in the toddler class.  We miss you Steph!

Dominic was in hog heaven wearing his lion backpack- abuelita bought the backpack for Dez when he turned 1, but Dez never had the chance to use.

The below pictures show a rough day at the pool.  funny thing is our boys are awful sleepers (they wake up frequently during the night and at the crack of dawn- usually 5 or 5:30) so it is very ironic that many of these pictures are of them sleeping.  its just that when they are awake, i don't have any free hands to take pictures.

HAPPY FALL TO ALL!
