Running just as fast as we can.....

Holdin' on to one another's hand......

Monday was a loaded day for me and I did not get my exercise in. Therefore I lose 1 point for my Challenge. Right after work I had visiting teachers come over and then I had to hurry and make a salad to take over to Chelsea's. We had a BBQ for Bananie's birthday. By time we got done there and then went to get gas in the truck it was late and getting dark to do anything and I didn't want to go to the gym that late.

On the other hand, as soon as Doran got home from work he went for his 7.25 mile run outside. Then he had just enough time so shower before the party.

Tuesday morning - Audrey and I went on a 5.15 miler. Actually by time I dropped Audrey off we were at 4.5. I don't know why I have this phobia about time. If I go 1.75 miles then I might as well go 2. If I got 3.6, then I might as well go 4. You get the picture. Anyway at 4.5 miles I said, "I might as well go 5", so I added on a couple of blocks. And it was .15 miles too many...then I kicked myself because I STOPPED! I should have gone at least to 5.25. What a phobia I have.

Tuesday Doran went to the gym to do weights and also listen for a phone call from work. He had to go back out for a couple of hours. It turned into more than a couple of hours, he got home after 11:00 p.m. then had to get up and go in the morning on his regular time. O Dark-thirty!!

We have been having problems with our screen (glass) door for years and years. We have replaced and turned it to open the opposite way but the wind still grabs it and yanks it's arms right out of it's sockets. Well last night after Doran left for work......WHISH!!!! There goes to door....SMASH!!! goes the porch light....SHATTER!!! The glass in the door is ok, it's the poor newish porch light. I had to 'dead bolt' the door and wait for Doran to get home so I could let him in. Then I worried what it would do today while we were at work. Sure enough, when I went home at lunch there it goes.....Since you can't just pop the hinges and take it off I PROPPED it OPEN.

I love keeping my big door open and just leave the screen door shut to let light in. I guess now I am going to have to deal without the light or get a new door (ya right) that has a big window in it.
On a happier note....I got a new camera. I have been wanting a little one (skinny) to put in my running fanny pack so we can take pictures on runs. My phone did a pretty good job but this camera will do a better job.

Wednesday: Doran worked a little late and headed to the gym and I went to a friends to do weights in her garage. I really like Holly's classes at the gym but 5:45 am is just SO early!!!

Look what else Doran brought home from work. He loves me, but he is sabotaging my ONE treat thing. AND of all the days, I decided to have my treat during lunch instead of at night. It killed me to look at these the rest of the night. I almost tossed in the towel for another loss of point to eat some but I held out. They will be mine soon.....

Birthday Girls

It all began 28 years ago this month.....I'm talking about when Chelsea was born. This cutie patootie was the joy of my life. She always said the darndest things and she was pretty sharp too. I was so proud to be her momma.
Then she grew up way too fast and then started her own family with this cutie patootie being born in April too.
Our oldest grandchild Bananie.
Time sure flies. I remember my mom and others always saying to enjoy them while they are young, because they grow up so fast. I think we worried too much on just LIVING day to day and not appreciating more 'moments'. They do grow up fast and time goes by even faster when you are a grandparent.
We love you two's guts so VERY, VERY, much. And we are so proud of you both!
We just pray that we can be better parents and grandparents while we have the chance.
SQUISH!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Oh the pain...It feels great!

This morning Doran and I got up and drove up to Mantua again. We parked a little further than last Saturday but my watch didn't say we ran any further. I have been worried about my shin and feeling a shin splint coming on and I was hoping that I could just work through it. I did, whew but boy from my ankle to the bottom of my heart (calf) hoits!!

In one area of the canyon I wanted to push myself. I told Doran that I would speed up as much as I could without 'hitting the wall' and then slow back down. I knew if I did this I would be tired and it would make the overpass harder to go up, but I tried it anyway. I was hoping for an 8 minute mile and when I looked down and saw a 7, I did a little WOOT!!! Remember, this is downhill, however there was that overpass that I was quite worried about. It was bigger than the one we took last week. Sometimes I wonder WHY I listen to Doran? We finished 5.25 miles in 51.29 minutes. Kinda bummed Doran out that we didn't finish faster, but I was just relieved that we finished. I wanted to quit so many times but I made it. As soon as I stopped, my legs started locking up. Good thing Doran was there to hang on to. HERO.

After we (I) stretched, we drove back up to get the car. Then when we got home I wrapped up in a blanket while Doran made us an egg samich. He loves me. :)

It's ORDERED!!

I finally finished our 2007 Blog book and ordered it today! It will be 46 pages from September 27, 2007 through December 2007. I can't imagine how big my 2008 and 2009 books will be and those books are going to cost me an arm and a leg. Maybe I will take up a collection.

Food, Fitness and Finance

A few days ago I made a roast, so yesterday Doran stopped at the store on his way home from work to get the fixin's for Enchiladas. He called me about 4:30 and asked me when I was going to be home. I told him around 5:00 so he said he got those done and would go ahead and put them in the oven so they would be ready when I got home. Woot! Then off to the gym he went. By time I got home and heated up some corn and stuff I got to eat at 5:30. I was hoping this would settle by time I went to my Boot Camp at 7:00. Misery....I should have had a small plate of dinner. But noooo, when it tastes good, ya gotta fill up, right! One good thing about eating before though, I got to ENJOY my treat before 9:00 pm.

This morning, Audrey and I hit the streets at 6:30 am. We made it 5 miles. Poor Audrey had a calf problem. It kept locking up on her. Doran felt the same thing last night while he was running. I guess it was the downhill running we did on Saturday. Guess we won't do that again....until next time.
The Wild Card for our challenge this week is to track every cent that is spent each day. I can do this but I may not like the outcome of where my money is going. Good thing we didn't start last Saturday, we spent way too much money for some more workout clothes. We are hoping that the new clothes would help us run faster.

WhAt a dAy!!

Yesterday after work we had Boot Camp at our house. Greg was going to be out of town and three out of six of us were not going to be able to make it. Greg sent everyone a list of the things that we needed to do.
Hillary, Me, Kristen
Doran went to the torture chamber to run his 7+ miles.

He got home about the time we got done with our torture. Then he went to get in the shower while Cortney and I ran to my mom's for dinner and Doran met us there in the car. (We would need a ride home)

Chelsea came over after we got home to watch a movie. We ended up watching one that was on TV with commercials and all. We have the SAME movie in a DVD. Why don't we bother getting IT and watching WITHOUT commercials? Sheesh.

Saturday morning we hit the streets again. This time Doran, Audrey and I drove up to Mantua and ran home. This was mostly downhill and it was a great run. I can honestly say that 90% of the time I was having a good time. The times that I was struggling I would just think of Jen and Heather running the Salt Lake marathon today. I can't imagine 21 more miles. I finished 5.25 without stopping. I did go back a couple of time for Audrey but she was doing pretty well that I didn't have to go far. Doran, well he ran much more because of his turn arounds to bring us water.
Doran was a wonderful HE man again. He carried our water. This was a tough run for him because he gets going down hill pretty fast and far ahead of us and then he runs back uphill to bring us water. What a guy. I think I'll keep him.
It was a fantastic run!
I didn't realize Audrey was just a snappin' pictures. A girl after my own heart.
See that little speck of yellow up yonder and the speck of black beyond that?
After the run Doran and Cortney cut and edged the grass while I did inside chores then had a shower. Then I went outside to work in the flower patches (oh how I dislike that). Chelsea and the girls stopped by for a minute. Doran was trying to get the weeds sprayed and I was trying to get the dang patches done before I ran out of steam, therefore, the kids didn't stay long.
By time we all had a shower and got most of the yard done (until we were too tired for more), and Cortney got back from a bridal shower, we headed to Ogden for running gear. Then we topped the day off by eating at Texas Roadhouse. I was so worried that I wouldn't get my dinner done by my 9:00 time but I finished at 8:50. The only 'treat' I could find was a roll of smarties in my purse. I didn't get to finish all of it before 9:00 so I saved the rest for tomorrow. I think from now on I will have my treat around LUNCH! That way I can actually enjoy a treat. And NO, I am NOT going to do without one.
I'm thinkin' we both got a little sun today. Kind of red faced wouldn't ya say?

Just a minute pillow. I'm coming, I hear you calling!!!

Night all.
