Clean Detox Diet

I've been watching a lot of food documentaries lately like Food Matters, Fat Sick and nearly Dead, Forks over Knives, etc. on Netflix to get inspired to start eating better. Then I happened upon an episode of the Dr. Oz show with a doctor that was in Food Matters. He was promoting a Clean Detox diet so I thought I would give it a shot.

Basically its eating only clean, nutrient rich foods. For 30 days you are suppose to eat...
1. Leafy green vegetables
2. Berries
3. Plant based protein powder
4. Beans
5. Whole Grain brown rice or Quinoa
6. Lemon Water
7. Coconut Milk
8. Coconut Oil
9. Fresh water fish or chicken
10. Green Tea
I think that was it.

Here at the things to cut out.
1. No Dairy
2. No Soy
3. No eggs
4. Gluten free
5. No processed food
6. No refined food (sugar)

I didn't really follow the 30 day meal plan but here it is if you are interested.

The trick is to focus on what you Can eat instead of what you Can't eat. There are actually a lot of options if you really want to eat healthy. What helped me is making things like a Quinoa salad or a pot of beans that I could eat several times a week.

After about a week I started to feel a kind of buzz in my body, like it was actually functioning properly. The few times I've cheated and eaten dairy and bread or pasta I've felt instantly gross again, like I usually felt before. I plan on modifying it to a Whole Food diet, or really way of life.

I didn't weigh myself at the beginning and I haven't kept track of it because that wasn't the point for me. I just want to be healthy and feel better.

My new dieting philosophy is to worry about how much nutrients I'm getting not about the calories.

The diet alone hasn't solved all my problems but I just started doing 20 mins of Yoga in the morning as well and I'm no longer dying for a nap at 1pm like usual, but it's only been a few days so we will see how that goes.
