Today's Thought

"Neither Satan nor any other power can weaken or destroy your growing character. Only you could do that through disobedience. That is why Satan is so intently focused on tempting you to make decisions that will undermine your character. Satan is an accomplished master at making devastating choices appear attractive, even reasonable. So be careful. At this critical time of life you will be faced with many choices. The decisions you will make will profoundly affect life now and for eternity. Make them wisely and prayerfully."

Finding my place

I have been having a little bit of a hard time "finding my place".
Most of the time we get some really good help from the leaders in filling the spots for the girls to be able to do the zip and low courses. These are a couple of sisters that helped me with harness and ball. They were really cute and helpful.
Amanda and Sophie from the Layton area.
I'm so glad that they both were able to zip today.

Sophie and I went down to the ladder close to the end and borrowed Sister Ellis' water gun. Sophie sprayed the priesthood brethren when they came down.
FUN gals!

There have been about 3 deer that keep coming to our course. Sometimes they just hang around and watch the girls and sometimes they just run through the area.
It has been so nice to be surround by such great nature.

1st Solo PDAY

Monday, June 5 was our first Solo Pday since the girls started coming. Our district now takes turns taking Pday, so that there are always enough missionaries on course during the day. Some days I think we are a bit short of missionaries but if there are enough leaders/campers, then we are able to get their help with the responsibilities to run all the girls through.

So we went on about a 3 mile hike, which included hiking around Legacy Lake. In the morning announcements they said that a new baby moose was born Monday morning, but we didn't see them. We did see the new baby geese that were born that morning as well.

This is a new bridge that the Grounds Maintenance built a few weeks ago.

Beautiful hike and a beautiful day!

Autumn Jill

June 1, 2023, we got a new little addition to our family.
Autumn Jill was born at 10:22 pm, in Mildenhall, England. She is 7lbs 1 oz and 20.5"
It was 3:22 pm here...

And this is what I was doing when I received word on this cutie!

I yelled down to our group that "We have a baby!!"
I shed a few tears of joy and sadness because we are SO far away and the first grandbaby that I wasn't there for.

But we are SO grateful that momma and baby are doing well!

We are proud Grandma & Grandpa, that's for sure!

HVC Arrival Day & Graduation

Tuesday morning a lot of the missionaries gathered by the Welcome Center to see the girls started out the HVC season. Some of the girls were cheering loud and others didn't know what to think. Then we headed off to our courses/assignments and had a great first day!

This is Elder Sevy

And this is Elder Sevy and his cute wife. This is there second year.
There are only a couple sisters younger than me here, and Sister Sevy is one of them.

This is Elder & Sister Bishop. This is also their second year and they are camped right next to us. I keep an eye on them and make sure they get in before curfew.

The cars are getting backed up clear back around the corner.
You figure, if there are about 2400 girls, there will be a lot of cars.

This is our first group of the season.

Then on to graduation. We felt really bad that we couldn't attend Brookelin's High School graduation but we were able to watch it via the internet.

CONGRATUALTIONS, Cookie!!!

Memorial Day & snowy ride

On Memorial Day we had a flag ceremony down at the Point/Welcome Center. There were quite a few missionaries gone for the day because it was everyone's Pday. Tuesday, the first group of girls will be coming.

We then honored those that were there that have served in the armed forces.

Our new President Pitcher of the Camp spoke.

After the ceremony, a few of us went riding.
We started up one trail and it was just too washed out to continue.

Elder & Sister Hansen was able to join us this time!

Then we went a different route, up Timber Lakes road. We went as far as we could before we ran into too much snow to continue. Some of the "boys" will do what boys do best. Test "the waters".
A few of them got stuck and had to be pulled out.

Remember a few posts back when I said I need to THINK first.
Well it was just about killing me not to ride like the big boys.
So just before we headed down, I just HAD to give this a try or I would regret it.

And YES, I did THINK first.

I did it! And I'm happy I did.
