Baby Maximus!

Maximus arrived at 8:01 am on April 25th  via a scheduled C-Section.  The anesthesiologist had a hard time getting the spinal in, he said my back was tight. I thought he looked nothing like B and in fact the second time I saw him I thought he looked like my brother Jimmy.

B meeting Max for the first time.

Can you tell she she woke up early...way to excited to meet her little brother! Thanks Auntie Sarie!!

Papa Ken meeting Max for the first time.

Cuddly time with Mommy.

I was surprised by his coloring. B was like a porcelain doll. Max has got some color!

Big Sister came to visit!

One of our many walks around the OB floor.

All ready to go home...Mom not so much.

B was so excited to have us home

First morning home. We all had a rough night adjusting.

One tired Daddy.

We spent 4 days in the Hospital and almost another one due to my health.

Max was the complete opposite of B! It was weird. He slept all the time and barely cried. B was a screamer! I didn't know what to do with him. He finally started being awake more after his circumcision and ate better after that. My milk came in right on time and I figured Max would start putting on some weight. However his Doctor was worried about him because he was not putting on enough weight considering my milk was in. This is where I get a bit frustrated! Doug only stayed the first night with me because B was having a hard time with me being gone...so after I fed Max in the late evenings I would send him to the nursery so I could get some sleep. Normally I would not have done this but on his first day he threw up amniotic fluid a few times and it scared me that he might vomit some and the either choke on it or aspirate some.  When the nurses would come get him I would tell them to bring him back in 4 hours so I could feed him again. Well I would sleep and when I would wake up it was 5-6 hours later and I would have to call for them to bring him and then it was always on the shift change and it would take them forever to bring him to me. Urg! So when were discharged his pediatrician said I needed to wake him up to feed him every 3 hours even at night. Oh boy! Thank goodness he would wake up for his feedings because I was so sleepy from the pain meds that Doug had to wake me up for his feedings.

Max is a great eater. Breastfeeding of course has had some ups and downs but for the most part had been so much better than B. With B I had so many infections I wanted to quit so many times. This time has been infection free!!

The month before having Max I had this funny lingering cough, figured it was just allergies...well it turned nasty on me once I got home. I was in so much pain I ran through my heavy duty pain meds before my appointment to have my staples removed, which was less than 2 weeks after getting out of the hospital. Every time I coughed I had to hunch down and clutch my stomach for dear life. I felt like my insides were ripping apart! I finally went to a regular doctor to see what was up. He wanted to avoid a chest x-ray due to my breastfeeding. I was checked for Whooping Cough...horrible test...huge cotton swabs shoved up your nasal cavities. I was also given a breathing treatment. The Doctor was unsure about it being Pneumonia due to my respiratory sounds. He was pretty sure it either Walking Pneumonia or another upper respiratory infection. He gave me another round of antibiotics and an inhaler. Looking back I remember needing to couch during the C-Section and wonder if some of the junk drained into my lungs. The cough finally went away about a month later and after another Doctors visit to see why I still was coughing. Go figure. I was worried I wouldn't have any lung capacity to start my training for the TOU Half Marathon I signed Doug and I up for while I was still pregnant. Thank goodness it went away.

Baby Animal Days 2013 and T's Birthday

We love Baby Animal Days at the American West Heritage Center. This was our second year going and it was a slight bummer that it was cold and rainy...however there was not a huge crowd there. We met up with B's Aunt Kat and cousin's K and O. Technically I was not supposed to travel due to Baby M coming so soon :)
